I enjoyed this book. I had guessed who the culprit was
Different. Along the lines of Downton Abby.
A nice period piece with surprising twists and characters. An easy to read story by a pleasing author who delivers.
One of the best old fashioned British murder mysteries I’ve ever read!
The book was entirely too predictable. I had solved the mystery after only about 75 pages. Characters were ho-hum and stereotypical (like the spoiled playboy who drove expennsive cars too fast and irresponsibly.)
Can’t wait for more from this author!
Interesting murder mystery with plenty of surprises. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five was because most of the characters were pretty shallow and two dimensional. I am unsure if this was intentional to characterize the attitudes of the English upper class during this time or not. If it was, then well done! If not, more …
Now I want to read the whole series!!
How the antagonist met her dimise. That was quite a twist. Interesting characters. Easy to read. The ending could have been a bit more extended. Perhaps the next book will continue the story.
Good summer read.
Agatha Christie-esque.
no smuttieness
Typical English country house mystery. I do like the story. It’s entertaining.
I really enjoyed this book.
I thought Poirot would never show up in this book and, despite showing some of the customs of the period, the murder victim was left unburied. Rich, important men of that time were always remembered with funerals, condolence calls, flowers. Even the vicar didn’t show up.
A detective series with wrong person named as the detective. Angela was the dtective but had small, part in the book, hmm.
Very British is quoted language. Good book and surprisingly good mystery.
Interesting characters that kept me turning pages long after I should have been sleeping. The murderer was a twist at the end.
This is an entertaining read, but fairly lightweight.
Enjoyable book set between work wars. A period I am less familiar with and therefore enjoyed reading about.
