Radcliffe Emerson, the irascible husband of fellow archaeologist and Egyptologist Amelia Peabody, has earned the nickname “Father of Curses” — and at Mazghunah he demonstrates why. Denied permission to dig at the pyramids of Dahshoor, he and Amelia are resigned to excavating mounds of rubble in the middle of nowhere. And there is nothing in this barren area worthy of their interest — until an … an antiquities dealer is murdered in his own shop. A second sighting of a sinister stranger from the crime scene, a mysterious scrap of papyrus, and a missing mummy case have all whetted Amelia’s curiosity. But when the Emersons start digging for answers in an ancient tomb, events take a darker and deadlier turn — and there may be no surviving the very modern terrors their efforts reveal.

Good background in archaeology. Definitely recommend.
I loved the entire series of the Amelia Peabody adventures. Well written, well researched with humor and ‘English pluck’. It is a pleasure to read a book with proper grammar and story structure.
I enjoyed reading this book and several of her other books too, love them.
Boring, tedious, slow.
This is a read over and over book, a clever book written by a practicing Egyptologist is my idea of heaven!
If I had to pick one series that I love above all others it would be Elizabeth Peters’ Amelia Peabody Emerson series. I have read them all, and listened to them as well on Audible (Barbara Rosenblat narrating), countless times. I envy anyone who has not yet had the joy of reading this series.
Elizabeth Peters always writes suspenseful stories about one of my favorite subjects: Ancient Egypt.
A great read for alittle history, and a lot of Peabody family fun!
The writing appeals to those who seek enjoyment while being intellectually stimulated.
I have loved this series from the early days. The characters are rich, fun and absolutely hysterical (reminding me of my own family).
Love Amelia Peabody! What a woman for her generation..
One of my favorite writers, the Amelia Peabody books are consistently . entertaining–and educational
The Mummy Case gives more of the action to previously minor characters
Peters characters and stores are just plain fun.
Amelia Peabody is a great character! So much fun to read her stories.
