An expert mountain rescuer, a starlet filming in a remote location, and the blizzard of the century… break. James decides his boss can force him on vacation, but he can’t take the mountain out of him. He retreats with Siku to his cabin on Clear Mountain, but arrives just in time to get trapped by snow—a lot of it.
Nicole West is the #1 box office sweetheart in America. She’s known for her laugh-out-loud romantic comedies, but when she’s offered the dramatic role of a lifetime, she decides she wants to show everyone she can do more than make people laugh. When production gets shut down due to harsh weather conditions, everyone makes it out but Nicole and her team. She’s not sure what they are going to do until they see a light in a remote cabin. The problem—a vacationing mountain rescue cop owns it—and he doesn’t want to share with anyone but his dog.
Can James let go of his gruff ways to make room in his heart for a woman? Can Nicole focus on more than her career when an opportunity to find love comes knocking? And when an avalanche brings down the mountain, can James and Siku lead them to safety before it’s too late?

Rude and abrupt?
James can seem both rude and abrupt, but it’s more that he’s not comfortable in social situations, underneath the growl and grumble there is the heart of a protector who mourns anyone he cannot save.
Nicole has been pigeonholed and unfortunately the worst culprits are those closest to her, what once seemed like good advice from management is suddenly uncovered as controlling and demeaning…but they have underestimated Nicole. She may be calm, quiet and undemanding most of the time but she has a spine of steel when pushed, once she has made up her mind nothing stops her…how is James supposed to resist?
Career Compromise?
Hollywood meets heroic hunk in this tale of avalanche survival. These quick novellas are always fun, and I learned some survival tips to avoid suffocation in the snow!
Will the rescuer need rescuing?
Part of the DCSR, James and his K9 partner Siku are the best of the best and they have used their talents to help hundreds of people. But when a rescue goes bad and he loses a young lady which is haunting him, he is made to take a break and goes to his cabin.
When a famous actress is nearby filming a new movie and her and two coworkers get caught in the snowstorm, they end up at James’s cabin. He and Nicole begin to get to know each other and there is a definite attraction there.
But when an they need to get back to the resort with their snowmobiles, who knows what till happen!
I am enjoying this series so much and look forward the next!
I enjoyed this story. It is well written. Ms. Brandt is an excellent author.
I can’t imagine being buried in an avalanche. The author did a great job with feelings of the characters as they are first stranded and James a rescuer takes them in. As they try to get back to the resort there is an avalanche. Once they are saved, there is a second avalanche. Nicole, an actress and James really get to know one another. But when they are out of danger how will they be together if she is in California and he is not? I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
I enjoyed reading this book! People got stranded on a mountain by a snow slide and were trapped in a cave. I recommend this book to readers who love romance with some excitement mixed in.
I love Jenna Brandt stories period, add in rescue and dogs and you have a sure winner. The Disaster City Search and Rescue series has been a particular favorite and this is a good addition to that. Book can stand alone but you will encounter old friends if you are familiar with the series. Enjoyed the book.
A great little book to read that was so much fun. I’m glad I got to read it.
I did receive an advanced copy of the book and the review is mine voluntarily.
The Movie Star Rescue is a sweet romance between James, avalanche expert for Disaster City Search and Rescue, and Nicole, an actress known for her rom coms who wants to do a serious part. The characters are well portrayed in this well written, dramatic story of rescue and romance. The book captured my interest on page one and kept it. I could not put the book down.
ONE SPECTACULAR DELIGHT
Exceptional! Jenna serves up one delectably delicious, deep dish delight, tilting my world on its axis and blowing my mind with this incredibly spun debacle, hooking me from the start and reeling me in for the duration, catapulting this sweet treat to staggering heights. Anarchy runs rampant and havoc is rife, boundaries are shattered and amplified, propelling this gem into the eye of the storm, kicking it into a frenzy with an astonishing culmination. Sparks fly as drama, turmoil, intrigue, escalating danger and spiraling suspense ensue in epic proportions, wrapping this baby up sleek, shiny and tight. The attraction and chemistry builds as each layer is peeled back, baring thrilling emotions and intense affections, binding them to one another beautifully. The characters, banter, interactions and charged atmosphere are realistic, complex and genuine with traits and qualities, add depth and diversity, blending into charismatic personalities. The scenes are abundantly descriptive with colorful details that blend and flow, creating one vivid backdrop that’s so rich and lively it feels as though you were transported to ground zero with them. Remarkable job Jenna, thanks for sharing this thrilling treat with us.
Another action-packed DCSR/Clear Mountain story!
James was an interesting, surly man trying to move past a DCSR work-related tragedy. Nicole, A-class movie star working on Clear Mountain, happened to stumble across James’s path and experience a new intimacy with snow… and its force of nature powers!
Without sounding like a sadist, I enjoyed the avalanche action scenes, the survival skills in practice, and the struggles the cast of characters had to overcome.
NB I received an ARC of this novel.
I liked how the main characters didn’t start off on the best foot but as they were made to spend time with each other they realized that the other person understood them really well and they grew to care for each other. I found it interesting to learn some about avalanche search and rescue and I thought Jenna did a good job at showing how hard it would be for these rescuers to lose someone. I thought she did a good job and I like they romance between the main characters.
I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.
This book is full of action, adventure, suspense and romance. James and Nicole’s story will keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. This book was a joy to read. I received a complimentary copy of this book and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Love the rescue! Loved getting to know Nicole and James’ story. Nicole was trying to prove herself more than a romcom actress. James was tormented by his last failed rescue attempt. Nicole was finally shooting her first dramatic role. Knowing nothing of how fast snow storms can turn into death storms, she wanted to practice her lines after the crew left early because of storm warnings. I started fussing out loud at Nicole. Telling her, “Don’t be stupid girl, snow storms are dangerous in the mountains”. Of course she didn’t listen to me…lol I’ll not tell you anymore, but if you like clean, stories with danger as the main events, you can’t go wrong with ‘The Movie star Rescue. I received this book from the publisher. The thoughts and comments are my own.
Sometimes people think that most celebrities are all “divas” but quite a few of them are down to earth people and that’s what Nicole West is. She may be a famous movie star but in private, she sure doesn’t act like it! She is just a “regular” person and wishes people would treat her that way! James Franklin is a decorated search and rescue guy who works in the snow covered mountains! Sometimes he works on avalanches, other times he rescues people in snowy, mountain conditions but he also trains new recruits at the Disaster City Search and Rescue Training Center. When he has a rescue go bad, his boss makes him take time off. It’s while he’s at his cabin in Colorado that he meets Nicole and he doesn’t even know who she is! However, when disaster strikes, Nicole is sure glad James has the skills to rescue her and her friends. James is an interesting guy because he’s a total loner and would rather be by himself or with his K-9 partner than with people. Nicole is a people person so the two of them are an “opposites” attract type of thing! It was a great story and I loved the action of the avalanche!!!!
Pretty good story with sad and heartfelt moments. Felt sorry for sam and what happened on a rescue mission. His boss ordered him to take some time off. So him and his K-9 went to his cabin at Clear Mountain. There he met Nicole and he didn’t know anything about her. When he and his friend Jose were stuck because of an avalange with Nicole, Britney and Matt, he was bound and determined nothing was going to go wrong this time. HEA.
