Hilarious, sweet clean romance:
This was a captivating book that held my attention throughout. I found I kept wanting to read “just a little bit more” to see what would transpire next! It was fun catching up with all of the quirky residents of Creek Water and thankfully some of them have mellowed so that their antics weren’t as over the top as in book 1. Despite being a bit far fetched and fanciful, it was still a delightful read. However I didn’t particularly care for the pschic element of the book and thought it was overplayed. Also it was only from Lexi’s point of view and I found myself wishing I knew more of what Beau was thinking and feeling. The ending seemed rushed to me and Beau and Lexi’s relationship could have done with more fleshing out as it just concluded with them declaring that they were now “an item”.

The Move is the second book in The Creek Water Series and is a truly entertaining read.
This author has a knack for giving us enjoyable but thought-provoking stories and this one is no exception. Lexi is on a journey from disaster in the big city to a possible love connection in the small town of Creek Water. The story is well written with laughter, a quirky family, some history of the Underground Railroad, a prophecy, and life changes.
I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
Destined to be a favorite read of 2020! Dineen’s quirky small-town characters will have you dreaming of packing your bags and moving to the Show Me state. Another winner of a read in the Creek Water series!
A delightful read with just the right amount of humor to keep it entertaining. A well written story line that holds the readers attention. The characters are also strong and well developed and fun to get to know.

It is a feel good wacky family tale, that involves fortune telling, a not quite romance, a runaway father, a house that was just right, finding the past and so much more in this wonderful story
I’ve enjoyed each book I’ve read by this author but I think this is the best yet. So much depth to a romantic comedy. The comedy is not in your face but real as life can be. Having read the previous book in this series does help but not essential. I really enjoyed the ”normal” strength of Lexi – she wasn’t the slightly pathetic lead female as they are in so many comedy’s. I eagerly await the next book.

Fun and Funny Romance
I am not sure if I have read this author before, but I found myself delightfully surprised at the quirky humor and immersive experience provided by this book. The author does deep, humorous point of view very well, which is not an easy feat. immediately, I was caught up in the mental meanderings of Lexie, the heroine, as her life spun out of control. I loved the contrast between city and country life, especially when viewed through the somewhat satirical lense of the very native New Yorker as she adapted to her new circumstances. If you like stories about small towns, contrasting big cities and small towns, great characters, and a sweet and slow romance, you may very well enjoy this book.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
She was given a heads up about her life in the future although she didn’t put much stock into it. Now that it has come to pass, Lexi is taking everything in stride. This story will have your emotions all over the place and you falling in love with Lexi and all of the other characters that makes this such an amazing read. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
I have not read anything by this author before. I have a one from her other series on my TBR but this is my first foray into her writing style and it is different. It has humor, it has depth and it is surprisingly deep. The story as well as Lexi is unique and intriguing and touching and relevant. The story really makes you stop and think and consider life as it is to fate and preordained and history, our own personal history. I love the setting of the small town but also the beginning for Lexi in the city. This story captures your heart.

Loved this book. The first book in the series was great but this one is even better. Can’t wait to read the next story in this series. Lexi is a strong character and she feels like someone you want to know in your life. This story had a great plot and the characters were fantastic. Really enjoyed the past and the present feeling in the storyline. Hope to read more about Lexi and Beau and of course their families in future books.
The Move, the second book in The Creek Water Series, is the perfect follow up to The Event. It works well standalone, but why wouldn’t you read everything author Whitney Dineen writes?
The Move is all the Whitney Dineen we’ve come to know and love, but very different from The Event. Everything in Lexi’s life, childhood, parents is different than her friend Emmie’s was, and after that dog jumped over her everything seems to be going wrong and Lexi now starts to seriously wonder if the fortune teller’s predictions from when Lexi was twelve years old are actually going to come true. Lexi decides to escape for a bit to visit Emmie in Creek Water, Missouri. Nowhere could be more different than New York City, and the fun and Lexi’s journey of discovery begin.
The Move is a fun read full of the usual eccentric characters and laugh-out-loud situations they get themselves in, as well as enough tender moments to satisfy your romantic heart. Creek Water is so vividly described that I want to live there – and smack Cootie in the process!
Thanks to Whitney Dineen for providing an advance copy through Booksprout in exchange for my honest review. Do I recommend The Move? Yes, I do! It’s a fast-paced story with well-developed characters, a very satisfying ending, and a lot of history and serious looks at big city vs. small town life thrown in. I love everything Whitney Dineen writes and The Move did not disappoint.

A quirky tale with a prophecy set in motion unbeknownst to the bystanders of Lexi’s life. The romance, the characters, the town, and everything is just intriguing and adorable.

This book caught me completely off guard. It’s funny, but it’s not quite the same slapstick humor as filled the previous book. In fact, this story is remarkably sweet, bringing lost family together, showing us how to honor where we’ve come from, and reminding us to speak our truths. There were a couple of plot threads that felt very similar to the first book, but that could just be because the Frothingham’s are “that kind” of nosy, interfering, busy-bodied, loving family. I loved reading about Lexi’s journey of self-discovery, and I can’t wait to read more about Creek Water and her slightly loony inhabitants.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book through Booksprout.
I wasn’t ready to get hooked from the first pages of this story, but I did. I loved that it had just a bit of “woo-woo” going on, nothing too out there, just someone with “the sight” when Lexi (Alexis Blake) was a child that changes the direction of what she perceived her life was to be. It was fun!
As I said above, Lexi was given a prediction by someone her grandmother knew, that in her thirtieth year, her entire life would change. And boy howdy, does it. What starts out as a job crisis of faith and commitment turns into an extended vacation to visit her friend Emmie, which turns into a move to Emmie’s small town. From New York City. To (what her New Yorker friends and family call) ‘not on this earth’! Too funny. But move Lexi does and falls in love with small town life, if she ever gets to settle in that is. There is much drama (the good to read kind) and she meets someone that she falls for immediately, Beau (Beauregard Frothingham), cousin to Emmie however he is not really available…or is he?
I don’t want to give too much of the story away but the southern family dynamics are hilarious. And Lexi’s New York City parents? They are quite the trip and play a big part in Lexi’s past and future. I loved her dad, sometimes her mom was a bit too set in her ways, but they both adore Lexi. BIG things happen to Lexi during her visit with Emmie and I couldn’t wait to finish reading Lexi’s and Beau’s story. I will say, though, that although I loved the entire book, and how it ended, I felt the ending was a bit abrupt – not that the story was short, but to me, the ending came about very quickly. I DID love how it ended; I just thought I had missed something. Still recommend it as I loved it and maybe it will not be the same reaction from other readers. Fun story, too-real families, crazy relatives, and some very interesting across-time ties. Love this book and the previous one!
Lexi has crushed on her neighbor Tim for more than a year. When he returns from a summer at Fire Island, he asks to see her at work. He needs help putting together a registry with his fiancée. Turn out they have been together the last year, and she is planning to move in next door. Since the apartments are going condo, Lexi will not be able to afford to stay there.
Work sees changes as well, and not in a good way. Lexi is smart enough to insist on taking her paid vacation, rather than getting paid for only half of it.
With her parents their usual non traditional selves, and her job in transition, a trip to visit friend Emmie in Missouri seems just the ticket to take her mind off things.
Moving forward and connecting with her family past in meaningful ways lies ahead with a bunch of possibilities for Lexi.
Exciting and fun read!

I love the quirky characters that populate the author’s imagination. This book picks up where “The Event” left off and reunites the reader with the charming Frothingham family. After a series of foretold events, Lexi Blake finds herself on the brink of joblessness and homelessness. She finds herself visiting her old friend and former colleague Emmie in the town of Creek Water, Missouri. The journey of self discovery on which she embarks is delightful and I found that I didn’t want to put the book down. I am eagerly awaiting the next book in this series.

Change is the watchword for a heroine ready for her foretold future
I loved how this book folded so well into the small-town world of imaginary Creek Water, Missouri created in The Event, the first book in the series, but the flavor of the plot is so different. Yes, Author Whitney Dineen gives us her signature zany characters; in this instance heroine Lexi’s artist father Bertie is odd behavior personified. Lexi’s odyssey to her BFF Emmie’s hometown becomes the lynchpin for the total reshaping of her future (and that of her parents). Three born and bred NYCers suddenly discover that life does not start and end in the Big Apple !
The romance is gradual and sweet rather than saucy and the villains of the piece like downer Cootie and Lexi’s boss do not get the last laugh. In the meantime, a heap of huggin’, feastin’, joy makin’ living is goin’ on. I love The series and will keep reading when the next book comes but The Move is a complete, standalone story with its own HEA(s).
The author is a favorite of mine, a go-to author for humorous, flawless writing that flows easily and feels optimistic and upbeat.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout but also purchased it for my library; this is my voluntary and honest review.
