He helps the other shifters who live in the mountains with him and he does his part to show kindness to others, but what he really wants is to hide away and nurse his wounds. Theresa is a romance writer who is tired of dealing with people in the industry. She has two adopted boys and goes camping in the mountains, where she gets the surprise of them shifting into cubs. Heath finds them at his cabin and goes looking for their parent. He finds Theresa about to be attacked by a wolf and stops it. He brings her back to his cabin to reunite them and falls in love in the week that they spend there. She leaves a personal note inside his copy of her book, which he finds a little later and realizes he let something precious go.
The characters are terrific, with great backstories and intense emotions and feelings. Surprises and twists along with drama and romance, fill this storyline. Loved the boys and the banter between all of them. The ending was perfect.

I enjoyed reading this entertaining, quick-read bear shifter romance & it is definitely worth reading. The plot is well-written & interesting. The characters are likable with good chemistry.
There is: a helpful bear shifter (Heath) likes living alone on the mountain but the situation changes when he discovers two bear cubs (Silas & Sebastian) on his doorstep & decides to look for their mother (Theresa aka Terri Jones), a protective dog (Spot), drama, intrigue, adventure, threats, danger, some violence, inquisitiveness, advice, attractions, decisions, surprises, happiness, contentment, some steam, love & a satisfying conclusion.
Short but sweet with a touch of excitement in there for spice. Good story. I loved it. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
Theresa is an author who is not happy with her pushy assistant, so she plans to have a weekend in the mountains with her kids.
Heath likes to live alone in the mountains. He likes the freedom he feels up there.
Although I enjoyed the book in the end, I don’t know what to think of it. The story has potential and some parts are nicely done. However, there are other parts that feel weak, the dialogues are silly and immature. It feels like some ideas put together without connection. All the info about the kids is missing and sometimes Theresa and Heath behave as if the kids don’t exist.
She needs to get away but never planned on him being in the woods
The Mountain Man’s Baby Bears is the second book in the Stormy Mountain Bears series but the first book I have read in this series. I was not sure what to expect with this shifter story as Sophie Stern writes a number of different genres and I have found some better than others.
This is a sweet and lovely shifter romance story that is not to long or complicated. Basic premise is single mother of two boys needs a break and decides to go camping in the woods with the boys. They end up running away and are found by a burly and surly, plus sexy as heck, mountain man that brings them to his house. He finally locates mom and things start getting really interesting from there. Turns out the boys are bear shifters and so is the mountain man. So now what does mom do but decide to climb the mountain man and gentle his ways, plus get a wonderful dad to her two little cubs.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
I really enjoyed this Shifter romance! Theresa adopts twin boys that have a shocking secret. Heath lives alone in the woods and finds the boys after they wandered off from Theresa. I thought these 2 were compelling characters, with interesting backstories. Heath is super curious as to how this human woman became the mother to these two. The book moves quickly, was a page turner, and has some ironic twists. An enjoyable read.

Heath is a sweetheart and Theresa’s kids are adorable and mischievous. Imagine adopting two little boys, and when you go camping and are sitting around the campfire, they suddenly turn into little bear cubs, you faint, and when you come to they’re gone. This is exactly what happens to Theresa when she tries to get away from the city for a long week-end to de-stress. She is a well-known romance author and has to do a lot of meet and greet book signings and it has gotten to be too much. While looking for her boys in the dark she is attacked by a wolf then saved by a bear shifter named Heath. Heath enjoys a quiet life in the mountains and Theresa lives in the city. Even though they want to be together what can they do? Will this just be a week-end romance or can they somehow make it work?
