When you have a very determined man, a hesitant, distrusting woman, and a viper intent on spoiling the works, you have all of the makings for a great read. I loved all of the characters. Both of the main characters were very charismatic, their families were loving and supporting – and there wasn’t a bit of navel-gazing angst. It doesn’t get much better than that. The story, of course, is well-plotted, well written and engrossing.
Frederick (Frits), Lord Littleton decided to be different than the Littleton males who came before him. They all put off marriage until they absolutely had to marry in order to fill their nurseries. Frits has decided he’s ready and he’s going to embrace love and marriage with open arms. Granted, he really screwed things up last season – he didn’t mean to – he just panicked. Now, it is a new season and he’s back to try again. Will society accept him back after what he did? Goodness, he surely hopes so. Especially after he sees a pair of soft gray eyes that glitter like silver. Oh my, he is totally smitten. Is the previous season already repeating itself before it has even begun?
Lady Adeline Wivenly has just arrived in London for her first season. London might prove to be exciting and interesting, but she’d far rather be in the country. She quickly makes four good friends – Lady Dorie Calthorp, Lady Augusta Vivers, Miss Featherton, and Miss Stern. The ladies all make pledges to protect each other throughout the season – especially from rogues. Adeline is especially wary because her brother was an infamous rake and she isn’t going to trust any man she even thought might be a rake. Especially that handsome, intriguing man she had just met – the one who broke her friend Dorie’s heart last season.
Everyone who knows Frits and Adeline were made for each other. Frits knows they were made for each other. Adeline – no, she doesn’t think so. She doesn’t trust Frits as far as she can see him and he hurt her friend, so she’ll be polite because she has to be, but she’ll also be aloof and cool to him. And she is! But when she overhears another woman plotting to trap Frits into marriage, her sense of honor just won’t allow her to ignore it. She has to warn him.
I hope you’ll read and enjoy this story as much as I did. There is humor, intensity, romance, and a healthy dose of a large and lovable canine. The whole thing is just a fun read that will keep you flippin’ those pages as fast as you can.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
Fredrick “Frits”, Baron Littleton caused a bit of talk last season when he set his sights on Lady Dorcus “Dorie” Calthor and diligently courted her only to seemingly throw her over with no explanation. This season he is sure he has found his bride, too bad she is friends with Lady Dorie, the woman he courted last season until he realized they wouldn’t suit and left her without, it was not well done of him and now he needs to convince Lady Adeline Wivenly that he is not the rake she believes him to be.
Adeline doesn’t want anything to do with rakes, which is exactly what she believes Frits to be after his treatment of her new friend Lady Dorie. She tries to keep the handsome lord at bay, even though she is attracted to him. Frits is sure Adeline is meant for him and sets out to prove they belong together.
This was an okay read for me, it was well written and well researched, but it just didn’t do it for me. The story was sweet and I did like Frits, but Adeline annoyed me. There were some amusing scenes and quite a few familiar characters from the previous series as well as slow burn romance between Frits and Adeline, culminating in a HEA. But when all is said and done, I am not sure how I feel about this book, I didn’t love it nor did I hate it, I am glad I read it, but I don’t think I would read it again. This is the first book in a new series and while I was not “wowed” by this book, I am interested in continuing with the series.
*I am voluntarily leaving a review for an eARC that was provided to me by NetGalley and the publisher.*
The Most Eligible Lord in London is the first book in the brand-new exciting series The Lords of London. And it was a fantastic book to start the series off with.
Lady Adeline is in London for her first Season and unsure of how-to avid rakes and find a husband. Luckily, she has found some friends to help guide her, but the man she is interested in led her friend on the previous Season. She wanted to have a love match with a man who the same things she does. She tried to be loyal to her friend and distance herself from Frits but became too hard to deny the connection and the similarities between them.
Frits had made a mistake the previous Season trying to find a wife and had rushed into things with Dorie. Only to realize that they would have a bad marriage between the two of them. So, he hurriedly left town to escape Dorie’s expectations. This year he is determined to take things slowly and to find someone that has the same interests. He is drawn to Adeline, but she is hesitant to spend time with him. He is not above finding was to make her include him in her plans. The more he uncovers of Adeline, the more he knows she is the woman for him.
Some additional romances were growing in the background with some of the side characters that helped Frits’s courtship. Adeline must overcome her feelings of betrayal if she wants to have a future with Frits. This was a wonderful book to read and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
There was a good foundation for both of the main characters, their families and friends. But the story was SO Slow….I was past the 40% on my kindle still waiting for something, anything to really happen.
While it was nice to have dual P.O.V’s from both Frits and Adeline, for me the story was JUST okay.
On the plus side I guess you could say that it was somewhat charming at times, there was a bit of humor but it was still somewhat predictable. The only real twist I saw came when a secret was exposed about another man who was also pursuing Adeline.
I did think that the eBook cover was very attractive.
“I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”
Ok, the cover is really pretty and the blurb really grabbed my attention. As I have a few Ella Quinn books but haven’t read them yet, this one I decided to give it a try. Sadly, the story didn’t grab my attention as I thought it would have from reading the blurb. I couldn’t connect with the characters either. I will still try more Ella Quinn in the future.
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

My review :
Will he be able to win her trust before it is too late …
This tale is a slow-burn romance as even if Frits recognizes from the beginning Adeline to be the right lady for him, he has his work cut out at his feet because of his previous year’s behavior.
He is a man easily smitten so when twice in a row he finds himself drawn to a debutante, it is obvious the previous season didn’t taught him much. But when he first was attracted to a diamond of the first water lady, here he finds his new objet of desire very beautiful when she is only pretty in the eyes of the others.
Up to him to show her he can be someone she can relate on and not the rake she came to believe he is.
Frits knows he acted badly when he left, the lady he had risen hope for a possible match between them, without a word of explanation. A very wrong move when now his new lady love is friend from said abandoned miss.
Why he will have to work twice as harder to prove Adeline he is more than the rake she supposed he is.
Adeline is very naive, instantly siding her friend when she forgets everyone is two sides of a coin. Why she chastises herself each time she enjoys her time with Frits. Each new encounter showing she has more in common with him than her other prospect, but as she has already labeled him as not suitable, she is also blind to every evidence her other suitor is far from perfect.
This is a tale of few actions as the author follows her characters from ballroom to daily calls, Park rides and visits at Gunther …
In this retailing of the Haute ton’s day-to-day life with its schemings and intrigues, Mrs Ella Quinn takes her time establishing her many protagonists and their games with each others.
Why at time, I skipped some pages to go a bit faster in the plot as this book was a long wooing story even if the heroine was not aware of it, very naive of her.
3.75 rounded up to 4 stars.
I was granted an advance copy by the publisher Kensington. Here is my true and unbiased opinion.

The Most Eligible Lord In London is a phenomenal historical romance by Ella Quinn. Ms. Quinn has provided readers with a well-written book and populated it with an outstanding cast of characters. Adeline is having her first season and has a tight-knit group of friends. When she finds one of her friends has been hurt by Frits, Lord Littleton, she tries to avoid him. Frits was entranced by Adeline and knows he’s going to have to work at getting her to let him court her. Their story is packed with drama, humor, sexy bits and suspense. I totally enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more from Ella Quinn in the future. The Most Eligible Lord In London is book 1 of The Lords of London Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Frederick, Lord Littleton is a rake, but determined to reform and to find a wife during this season in London. His only problem is that last season he disappointed the expectations of a young woman and she is a good friend to the only woman he wants. Lady Adeline Wivenly finds Frederick attractive, but her friend warns her that he is not to be trusted. As they get to know each other during the season, their common interests draw them closer together. Adeline intervenes when she hears other young women plotting to compromise Lord Littleton. The Regency Era with its rules for young women makes finding the right spouse a difficult task.
A delightful love story!
We discover in this novel not to judge a book (or rather a rake) by its cover! Frits had made a mistake last season but learned his lesson well. However he had to pay for the repercussions of his actions in ways he hadn’t anticipated. I liked his fortitude. He made mistakes but he owned them. His persistence in Adeline was heartwarming. He was thoughtful of her and was genuinely interested in her as a person. Adeline is in her first season and is young and extremely naive. At some points she seemed a little too sheltered and inexperienced. She was so young and uncertain that it was hard for me to cheer for her at times. However, about halfway in I saw her backbone through her actions and I really liked her spunk!
The villain in the story was detestable and very well written. Through scenes entirely dedicated to him you see what a horrible man he really is and how well he hid it. There was another villain in this story, slavery. I got a glimpse of the situation of slavery in that era. It was eye opening. There was a parallel plot on this issue that was enlightening and deepened the story.
I really wanted to see the couple get their happy ending. There were times in the first part of the book that I felt could have moved at a faster pace. However, their journey was sweet and the storyline was enjoyable. The one thing I loved about this author’s other series was the humor sprinkled in the books. I found that lacking here. Overall, it was a delightful read. It took me just a little while to get fully invested, yet when I did I throughly enjoyed it. A fun read and I will be looking forward to the next one.
A great addition to the Worthington series!
Frederick (Frits), Lord Littleton has returned to London for the new season after the diaster of the year before. Ready for a wife, his one obstacle is the lady he’s interested in. She’s friends with the lady he left hanging when he suddenly left London the year before. Poor Frits has his work cut out for him. Nothing is easy in his quest for the lovely Adeline Wivenly. Carriage rides and ices, supper dances and suppers, competition for her attention and of course Maximus.
A lively season in London. Laugh out loud.
This was a fun read. A historic RomCom, reminiscent of a Shakespearian comedy, without the Elizabethan dialect and spelling. The book centers on the new season of the Marriage Mart. Fredrick (Frits), Lord Littleton, would be considered the most eligible gentleman in town, except for the mistake he made the previous year, by showing interest in a girl, before he knew her well enough to know if they would suit and when realizing that they would not, suddenly left London, without telling her. He is looking for a love match, and the first time that he meets Lady Adeline Wivenly, he believes that she is the one for him. However, she is friends with the girl he fled from last year. She has her own list of qualities that she is looking for in a husband, and a rake is not one of them. There are ladies plotting to compromise Frits to force him into marriage, not for love but ulterior motives, while a villain attempts the same thing on Adeline. Meanwhile their mothers, who are friends, believe they would make an excellent match, but in the end it is Maximus the dog that saves the day. Appealing characters, witty dialogue and an amusing plot, skillfully written combined to make this a fun read.
I read an ARC from NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Good book to give it 5 stars, it needed to finish some of characters, …still good book
Quinn knows her Regency period and entertained me. I had two quibbles with this book. The main characters took one look at each other and were attracted. Then came the conflict. Which could have been settled with a conversation. I know, those rarely happened during the time period, but seriously?
I was hoping for more.
Lord Frederick LIttleton knows he made a mistake last season but he knew the girl he had courted wasn’t the right match for him and he handled it poorly. Now he is back and is hoping to find a wife that suits him. When he meets Adeline he believe he has met the woman who is meant for him, however Adeline thinks he is a rake and tries her best to keep him at a distance. Frederick knows he has an uphill battle with Adeline and other suitors who also have interest in Adeline.
There is quite a bit more to this story that unfolds that was a bit of a surprise. I enjoyed this quite a bit, the chemistry is there from the very beginning. I liked Frederick quite a bit and it was fun reading how he tries to navigate the ruff road ahead of him.
A Delightful debut for the start of a new series by the wonderful Ella Quinn. What could be better?
Frits, Lord Littleton was making his way to his second season. After the disastrous one last year he could only hope it went better. He had acted the cad in paying attention to Lady Dorie, but decided they would not suit and had just left without a word.
He had high hopes though because he did want to find a wife, not wait as his ancestors had until they were forced to marry. Of course the one who caught his eye was a friend of Dorie’s Lady Adeline. He was definately enchanted by her and wanted to court her. But he knew it might be difficult due to her friend.
This was a slow burn romance and I enjoyed Frits and Adeline. But there is a real rake in the midst who wants to court Adeline just to get her dowry. All is not as it seems and the journey is fun and intriguing! I read this through NetGallery and the publisher
The hero Frits has his work cut out for him to prove his worth to the heroine Adeline. She is naïve. Believes him to be a rake and her loyalty to a friend unfairly colors her opinion of him. It is a slow burn romance and I loved the hero. Very romantic and enjoyable read. There is a real cad in the story – love to hate him. Love the Worthington series. Humor, romance and the dogs!
The Most Eligible Lord in London by Ella Quinn is the First book in The Lords of London Series. This is the story of Adeline Wivenly and Frederick ‘Frits’.
Adeline is having her first season in London. Adeline ends up meeting some other women and they become fast friends vowing to keep watch on each other. Adeline is somewhat distrusting of rakes of the town because of her family. So when she feelings the need to warn Fredrick she is leery about helping him further. Fredrick family has a history of putting of the marriage mart and having children for as long as possible. Fredrick thinks to do thinks differently but had some fall out from last season. This season he trying again but this time he thinks Adeline might just be the women for him. I enjoyed reading how their story was going to play out. This is a good start to a series and I hope to read more from this author’s writing!
I voluntary reviewed this ARC after receiving a free copy.
I loved Frits and Adeline love story. For me it was original and well put together. The writer had a number characters introduced to the book, however this did not confuse me as who was who. The sense humor and witty banter was great. It was light and not to excessive.
The timing for the humor was placed accordingly in the right scenes. I find having an animal in a love story is a plus. I like how Maximus had a part in almost every scene of the book. The book had a fast pace. There was no slowness to the book, which was great!
It held my attention, leaving me wanting more. It was informative on facts, which was another plus. I will say this, I knew the mother’s were up to something. That’s all I will say. My fellow readers add this book to your TBR.
