New York reporter Paige MacKenzie has a hidden motive when she heads to the small town of Timberton, Montana. Assigned to research the area’s unique Yogo sapphires for the Manhattan Post, she hopes to reconnect romantically with handsome cowboy Jake Norris. The local gem gallery offers the material needed for the article, but the discovery of an old diary, hidden inside the wall of a historic … hotel, soon sends her on a detour into the underworld of art and deception.
Each of the town’s residents holds a key to untangling more than one long-buried secret, from the hippie chick owner of a new age café to the mute homeless man in the town park. As the worlds of western art and sapphire mining collide, Paige finds herself juggling research, romance and danger. With stolen sapphires and shady characters thrown into the mix, will Paige escape the consequences of her own curiosity?

This is a good read. The characters are very believable, like your friends and neighbors. You get involved in the story.
Loved this book
This was a fun, cozy mystery. The author managed a mystery with no murder but managed to keep us entertained throughout. The setting, a western town, was out of the ordinary. We learned about sapphire mining in the USA as well as how paintings are authenticated. The characters are original. In short, a fun quick read.
Like the history that the book included!
It’s a little slow, last few chapters is where all the action is.
Very clever ending!
I read the first one in the series, and now with number 2, I’m waiting to read number 3. There is continuity that picks right up, even though it has been a while since I had read number 1. There is a mystery going on in the book that keeps you coming back to finish the book
This is a light read with some interesting characters. Fun to see if your premonitions are the same as the authors twists.
Fun read and I like the main characters in this book. Being this book takes place in the state I reside in it was interesting how the book came together and concluded.
Enjoyable reading.
Second book by this author. I could not stop reading it.
Really enjoyed reading this book. Kept my interest and didn’t want to put it down!
One that I will read again!
Creative story. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this.
Read first in series and have bought he rest that are now out. Recommend.
I liked the story line and the realistic characters. Just an enjoyable read
Couldn’t put it down.
Okay, but a bit far fetched. Subject matter and setting good
I like the concept of NY people wanting to read about “fly-over” country, even though that is a total untruth (so totally self-centered, most don’t know or care where food comes from!)
I like the characters and premise of each assignment the lead is given and how the romance will continue long-range.
It was a good book with interesting characters. I think it’s only worth 3 stars though.
liked it.
