New York reporter Paige MacKenzie has a hidden motive when she heads to the small town of Timberton, Montana. Assigned to research the area’s unique Yogo sapphires for the Manhattan Post, she hopes to reconnect romantically with handsome cowboy Jake Norris. The local gem gallery offers the material needed for the article, but the discovery of an old diary, hidden inside the wall of a historic … hotel, soon sends her on a detour into the underworld of art and deception.
Each of the town’s residents holds a key to untangling more than one long-buried secret, from the hippie chick owner of a new age café to the mute homeless man in the town park. As the worlds of western art and sapphire mining collide, Paige finds herself juggling research, romance and danger. With stolen sapphires and shady characters thrown into the mix, will Paige escape the consequences of her own curiosity?

Ms.Garner always gives us a fun story with characters that we wish lived in my neighborhood.
The romance of Paige MacKenzie and Jake is delightful…. And clean, thank you very much. I enjoy the surprises of adventure, the discovery of the gems and mining history, and appreciate the sweet growing relationship with out it being messy or distracting. Excellent entertainment!
Well written, fast moving. Heroine often portrayed as impulsive. Would have liked more HEA at the end instead of just a hint.
I loved how each book took place around Christmas with new characters mixing with some of the originals.
I didn’t finish reading it.
great characters. interesting twists in story.
I loved it.
good read
The twists and turns of the plot were well done. The mystery kept me guessing and when I thought it was all solved along came another twist. Characters are mostly believable (not too sure about Mist), there is some romance with nothing to offend readers.
This was a quick read that I was sorry to see it end. It was fun and had a little mystery too.
Just okay. A quick read, but somewhat predictable.
Cute easy to read mystery.
it was kind of slow
This is a charming mystery about a living ghost town (I know: oxymoron, but you’ll see), its quirky characters and the towns lost treasure. Research into the sapphires and the area is well done. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Feel good people and places
I enjoyed the characters and story
It was a light mystery with a twist or two. An easy read when you want something simple.
Honestly, it may be better than 1 star. I gave up after the first 10 or 15 pages, I just couldn’t get into it.
Easy to read.
Good book, a bit predictable at times, but kept me reading until the end.
