New York reporter Paige MacKenzie has a hidden motive when she heads to the small town of Timberton, Montana. Assigned to research the area’s unique Yogo sapphires for the Manhattan Post, she hopes to reconnect romantically with handsome cowboy Jake Norris. The local gem gallery offers the material needed for the article, but the discovery of an old diary, hidden inside the wall of a historic … hotel, soon sends her on a detour into the underworld of art and deception.
Each of the town’s residents holds a key to untangling more than one long-buried secret, from the hippie chick owner of a new age café to the mute homeless man in the town park. As the worlds of western art and sapphire mining collide, Paige finds herself juggling research, romance and danger. With stolen sapphires and shady characters thrown into the mix, will Paige escape the consequences of her own curiosity?

I loved this story line. Different that’s what made it interesting to me
I don’t read a lot of mystery books since I have a thing about nervous tension. I generally prefer a happy story line and mysteries are often more dark than I’d enjoy. However, I did enjoy this mystery. It isn’t too deep or dark. The bad guy is bad but his antics are a small part of the story. There is a little romance mixed in but not a ton.
This was a light, fun read.
This book is a little slow getting started but then it takes off and you are hooked and can’t put it down. I never came up with the ending on my own. Lovely characters.
This was nice, mind candy book. Not hard to read, interesting enough to finish. it was a little predictable but the characters were likeable and the setting for the story unique. I would choose it to read at the beach or somewhere you just want escape into an easy read for a while.
Loved the characters. Looking forward to more in the series.
Good read. Informative
It was a fun read. I liked the interaction between the characters. It was quick to read and kept my interest to finish.
Nicely written characters, fun story line! A little romance, some mystery, some geology. Open hearts in many of the characters. Very enjoyable.
Slow start, picks up in the middle.
A nice twist to romance. Recommend it!
Ok not wonderful parts really slow
I needed more character development.
Nothing complicated but an enjoyable story.
Good easy reading.
Quick read. Entertaining.
Clean
I liked the uniqueness of the story. Sometimes it was not fast enough moving, however.
I loved learning about the sapphires . Painting a painting over another painting is interesting. I grew to love the town and the characters, so I hope there will be many more books about the town and the reporter. A pleasant couple of days dreaming of Montana. from Sandra
