Battle of the wills for each others secrets
The Monte Carlo Shark is the seventh book in the An International Legacies Romance by Camilla Stevens. It is the story of Sloane and Magnus. These two have a lot of chemistry together and their story is definitely interesting and intriguing at times.
Sloane Alexander is a NYC lawyer at a prestigious law firm. But her brother is not quite as bright and does something very bad with his friend. In order to save him Sloane has to get to know Magnus and find out some information.
Magnus Reinhardt is a cunning businessman who has it all, or so it seems. He has wealth, status, cars, women and travels the world. But he has secrets and a long list of people who he is exacting revenge on for his family.
Magnus and Sloane meet in Monte Carlo and there is an immediate attraction. They are intrigued by each other as they start what becomes a battle of the wills and cunning to see who will come out on top. But there may be some feelings in there also before it is all done.
This is a well written book with a story-line that is nicely developed and exciting. But for me it was drawn out and could have used a good edit to remove some pages of things that were irrelevant and to me did not add to the actual story. But overall I did like the story as the characters are locked into a true battle to find out the secrets of the other and as a result they also discover more about themselves along the way.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
This is my first time reading this author. The story is a good one with interesting characters. I did find the plot to be slow at times but then it picked back up. The main characters have instant chemistry between them despite neither of them wanting to believe it or act upon it. I enjoyed the dialogue between Sloan and Magnus it was very well written and witty.

Sloane Alexander is an attorney at a prestigious law firm. She is focused on making partner at the firm when her life is completely upended after she finds out her brother stole $10 million from a dangerous businessman. In order to save her life and the life of her brother, she is required to get valuable information about the business transactions of Magnus Reinhardt. People who have gotten on Magnus’s bad side or who have betrayed him tend to end up dead or missing.
It doesn’t take much time or effort for Sloane to get Magnus’s attention. I really enjoyed the game of cat and mouse between Magnus and Sloane. The witty banter, the sexual tension, and the suspense were enticing elements of the story.
Unlike the other stories in this series, I devoured this book. I couldn’t wait to find out how Magnus and Sloane’s relationship would develop and how Sloane could get herself out of this conundrum with her life intact. This was my favorite book of the series so far.
Everything you need in a book – romance, adventure, excitement and plenty of steam . The heroine is strong, sassy lady and our Hero is alpha ,ruthless and carrying man.
The book is well written, engaging and entertaining.
I really enjoyed Sloane and Magnus’ story.

Camilla Stevens, ‘The Monte Carlo Shark’.
An International Legacies Romance.
As a Hidden Gems ARC reader I received a free copy and promised an honest review. Here it is.
Rating: 4,5 stars (of 5).
In general: From prey to lover.
Main characters:
– Magnus Reinhardt.
His wealthy parents were murdered because his dad seemed to be involved in a bank scandal and his mom knew too much. Magnus and his sister, Estelle, were raised by an aunt living in Monte Carlo.
After the killing of his parents the Reinhardts lost their wealth, but – driven by feelings of revenge – due to his intelligence, cunning and ruthlessness Magnus became a powerful billionaire. And a world champion in pentathlons. His nickname is ‘the Shark’ and he often lives in Monaco on his yacht the ‘Mako’.
– Sloane Alexander.
She lives and woks in New York as a corporate attorney, trying to make partner in her company. She’s abducted and blackmailed into an investigation of Magnus’ business plans. Within 40 days Sloane has to inform her client about Reinhardt’s bussiness. If not her brother Theo (an IT genius) is threatened with death as a punishment for his theft (influenced by a bad friend) of 10 millions dollars.
Sloane risks prison for insider trading, securities fraud or corporate espionage by her investigation, but the life of her brother is more important.
Magnus and Sloane meet when she, sitting on a terrace, seems interested in his yacht. They talk and get interested in each other. She knows he’s dangerous and ruthless towards opponents and he learns quick that she wants to know more about him. They distrust each other, but step by step they discover that both have good qualities.
The author, Camilla Stevens, then describes how they gradually overcome the ghosts and threats from their past and acknowledge their mutual physical attraction. It results in sassy dialogues and a bit of interesting sexual flirting. Furthermore some suspenseful action scenes and corporate manipulations. And all this in the glamorous world of the Cote d’Azur.
For me – after ‘Iceland’ and ‘Italy’ – again a pleasure to read one of Camilla Stevens’ novels.
R. Huiszoon.
I’ve read a lot from this author and much of the stories in the series. I really enjoy most of her work but, unfortunately, this read was not my fav. I liked the idea of the story and thought it had promise but the story read very slow and jumped around far too much. The book is about Magnus Reinhardt. He is as pompous as his name implies. He has it all, a title, money, good looks and amazing business skills to die for. Sloane is an attorney at a prestigious law firm in New York. They meet at the request of a third party that is threatening Sloan and her brother due to a very stupid mistake on her brother’s part. The third party insists that Sloane gather some specific information from Magnus. If she refuses, her life and that of her brother are in danger. I voluntarily received an arc copy of this book from HiddenGems
Sloane is in Monte Carlo to get close to Magnus and get information that could keep her brother and her alive. Magnus is an alpha billionaire with his own agenda. Although this story started out slow for me once it got going I was hooked and the intense chemistry between Magnus and Sloan made this book that much better for me. This is a great addition to the International Legacies Romance series and I look forward to reading the next one.
Magnus and Sloane are the perfect pair to work towards Magnus’ final revenge and love
I am enjoying the International Legacies series and The Monte Carlo Shark did not disappoint with the intrigue and attraction between Sloane and Magnus. The two play off their end goals which Magnus hopes to make one and the same, yet Sloane has troubles with Magnus’ revenge. If Magnus and Sloane even have a chance at a future, they’ll each have to give of themselves. Is it possible? You have to read to find out and before you know it, you turned the last page. Camilla makes you feel like you are right there in Monte Carlo, she describes it with such detail.
sloan is and attorney in a prestigious law firm, she is a strong woman , Magnus is a man of mystery he has a title , money and good looks . Sloan is forced into corporate espionage and magnus is the target. This story is strong with mystery and suspense . I highly recommend this story

I have read a few stories by this author and the usual trend is a great beginning that lures you in with her great writing skill then towards the middle-end things start getting a bit wonky and the story starts falling apart and then loads of unnecessary angst and at times a lack luster ending. Thankfully for the most part this story maintains its sexual and dangerous intensity between Sloane and Magnus.
Sloane finds herself in Monte Carlo due to a very stupid get rich quick scheme that her younger brother was involved in. Her goal was to find out what Magnus was up to with liquidating the majority of his assets and use that info to get her brother out of his predicament.
For me there were a lot of questions as to how she was going to accomplish that. If it wasn’t for Magnus hiring her to be his “lawyer” there wasn’t really any explanation as to how she was going to get close to him other than being in the same city as him. There are other things with this blackmail threat that didn’t make much sense either.
Magnus was driven by the need to avenge his family. He was methodical in his dealings with his adversaries. He was a man used to being in total control and Sloane threw him off balance. She made him question what his life would be like once he was done with his revenge.
These two would push and pull at each other in different ways to get the upper hand. Outwardly they appeared to be in it only for the thrill of the hunt, inwardly they found themselves giving each other more than they bargained for.
There are cameo appearances by both good and bad guys in this story from characters that appeared in some of the other related books.
While there are some areas that could us a bit of tightening up I found myself caught up in the tension that Sloane and Magnus created just by being in the same room with each other.

Loved it!
This is another GREAT story in the International Legacies series!
This time Ms. Stevens takes us on an adventure in Monte Carlo.
Have you ever imagined playing a Bond girl? A beautiful location, designer clothes, yachts, speed boats, swanky hotels, and of course the mysterious hot guy.
I have.
There is suspense, intrigue, twists, turns, mystery, romance, revenge and finally a Happily Ever After.
If you are new to The International Legacies series then I highly recommend you pick up a copy. I have read all of them, and everyone is a 5 star read. You won’t be disappointed.
Happy Reading 🙂

Sloane Alexander is on a mission to keep her and her brother alive. All she has to do is uncover Magnus Reinhardt’s secrets and they’ll be safe, or will they. When she comes face to face with Magnus, Sloane soon finds out that he’s no easy target and she in turn becomes the hunted.
The Monte Carlo Shark is a intriguing story about a stubborn and strong willed hero and heroine who once they’ve set their sights on a agenda there’s no stopping either from getting what want until they meet each other of course. Sloane and Magnus bump heads quite a few times while both are trying to figure out the others end game. While doing so, questions are answered, vengeance is served and love is found. What I liked most about the story is that neither the hero or heroine back down and both fight for what they believe is rightfully theirs , which when all is said and done, is each other’s heart. I also loved the authors detailed description of Monte Carlo which made me feel as though I was there myself and in turn made the story more enjoyable for me. I look forward to seeing what this author has coming up next in the International Legacies series which with each book takes you on a romantic journey of finding love in wonderful far off places .
I’m giving nothing away with this one. You MUST read this book for yourself. This is the BEST one yet. This hero is everything–smooth, cool, calm and collected. Nothing ruffles his feathers until the heroine manages to make him aware of her. Don’t read too much into that because nothing happens that he doesn’t want to happen. He is in complete control and I loved seeing the heroine try to navigate inhabiting his world.

Unusual Courtship 4 ½ stars – Sloane had plans when she got to Monte Carlo but Magnus made his plans her plans. It started out as a game to Magnus with the usual sprinkling of attraction but morphed into want. Sloane is a strong woman though and wouldn’t settle anything less than love and surrender. It’s an unusual courtship with the backdrop of yachts, royal balls and sinister reasons. The plot will keep you interested. I like the epilogues. [I received an advanced copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.]
An exciting addition to the series that doesn’t disappoint. Sloan and Magnus are two strong characters that when combined ignites. Magnus is such a complex character with such a background you had to have expected it and it shows through his mannerisms. I loved their intense chemistry that seems at times painful but in the end their HEA was so worth it. An exciting storyline filled with suspense, danger and a heat level that sizzles from start to finish. I loved how the other books in this series is starting to connect to each other. If your a fan of this series than this is a definite must read for you.
I know ARC reviews are treated with some suspicion, but this book really is great! Sloan and Magnus are magnificent… Lol.. But really. Sloan is a strong female lead with drive and ambition without the hard shell and bitchiness we sometimes encounter in the stronger female MC. She is being forced into corporate espionage with Magnus the target. They have witty interactions, the drama is more emotional and both characters are uncompromising in their actions in the beginning. I love that we get to see some of Sloan’s insecurities but that she stays strong in her convictions. She did not just roll over for Magnus. Without giving much away, Magnus did need to eat some humble pie.
The book had great pace, was excellently written and well edited. The plot was believable and transition points in the story smoothly done. The connection between Sloan and Magnus was build over time and believable.
Sloan reminded me of why it is sometimes difficult for women and more so for women of colour, to feel confident in their skin and with their achievements. Yes, we live in a biased world, and this means family is even more important.
