Quiet, reserved, Lady Ophelia Fletcher always has her nose stuck in a book; hence why she didn’t witness the death of her friend the fateful night of her passing. Now, she writes the Mayfair Confidential column to expose unsavory men as a way of making amends for not backing her other friend’s claims of murder. When a handsome stranger arrives to meet with her father, Ophelia is helpless to keep … keep from investigating the dashing lord.
Colin Parnell, Lord Hawke, has a promise to uphold: find the book that proves his grandpapa worked as a spy for King George II and did not die as a no-good smuggler off the coast of Kent. Shrouded in mystery and scandal, the Parnell family has been at war with one another for decades, and Colin is determined to put a stop to it all by discovering proof of the family’s honorable past. Unfortunately, the book he seeks is in the hands of a fiery-haired beauty, and he’ll need to enlist Ophelia’s help to uncover the truth.
Ophelia is more than happy to use her skills to help Lord Hawke. But will their search for answers lead to misadventure, or will they get something greater than they bargained for: the truth and each other?

The third book in a brilliant series
This is the third book that continues a brilliantly crafted series. This clean plot sees the friends finally solve the mystery of their friend’s death, as well as heal the rift in another family. As with all historical romances, the two focused characters manage to grasp their own happiness in the end.
I purchased this as part of a 3 book bundle the author offered called THE UNDAUNTED DEBUTANTES.
This was my favorite until the ending which was rushed. I thought I knew who the murderer was from book 2 and I was correct. I felt the confession of the person, the H’s father complete about face and reason was disappointing.
If you are a stickler for Regency Rules, this will upset you because so many rules are broken. But, if you can get past that, it is an interesting story line.
Another clean story with only kisses. I loved the grandma Molly and her dead fast love for her departed husband. The stories she instilled in her grandson warmed my heart and she never gave up in her belief.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, little on romance, great banter, but rushed ending. (ljb)
The final book in this trilogy of “The Undaunted Debutantes” was a delight to read. I was waiting for Ophelia’s story and Ms. McKnight did not disappoint. Lady Ophelia feels overlooked and invisible most of the time she’s with her more outspoken friends, Lady Edith and Lady Lucianna, but when a chance meeting with Colin Parnell, Lord Hawke, sends an opportunity her way to solve a mystery, she dives right into a misadventure of her own. Finally finding her own courage, she and Colin, embark on a quest to clear his grandfather’s name. Along the way, she learns some valuable lessons about being true to yourself, friendships and the exquisite pleasure of love.
McKnight is a talented author and she winds up the mystery of who killed Lady Tilda with a clever storyline. I have loved Ophelia’s character since the series was introduced and was thrilled when Ophelia finally had a moment to shine. To fully enjoy this story, I recommend reading the first 2 books in the series. Fans of regency romance will definitely enjoy this story.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This is the last book in the Undaunted Debutantes Series and it is Ophelia’s story.
Ophelia feels bad because when their friend Tilda is pushed down the stairs and murdered on her wedding night all her friends say they saw Abercorn push her. Ophelia had her nose in a book and didn’t see what happened because she was day dreaming about adventures. Poor Ophelia has always day dreamed about having an adventure especially since Tilda’s death as all her friends have found love but it was adventures that brought that about.
While Ophelia is following Abercorn and his sister into a book store trying to hear or learn anything that might implicate Abercorn in Tilda’s death. She sees a man that meets the description of every pirate she has ever read about plus some. Handsome and rugged with all sorts of mystery enveloping him. Colin Parnell, Lord Hawke is a man that dreams are made of. Of all things he is searching for a book by his grandpappa Fair Wind Parnell. It will prove that Colin’s grandpappa was not a common smuggler.
Ophelia’s adventure starts when she decides to help Colin find the book.
For me one of the support characters in this one could have stolen the show. I loved Molly the feisty grandmamma. She is a card.
As always Christina McKnight has hit this one out of the park. The story line, the characters and the Debutantes, I will miss it all.
I highly recommend this book but be sure to read all the rest in this series too.
