In this twisting time-travel thriller, a woman faints on the eve of her wedding—and awakens at the turn of the century in her grandmother’s body . . . The night before she is supposed to get married, Shay Garrett has no idea that a glimpse into her grandmother’s antique Chinese mirror will completely transform her seemingly ordinary life. But after a bizarre blackout, she wakes up to find … wakes up to find herself in the same house—but in the year 1900. Even stranger, she realizes she is now living in the body of her grandmother, Brandy McCabe, as a young woman. Meanwhile, Brandy, having looked into the same mirror, awakens in Shay’s body in the present day—and discovers herself pregnant.
As Rachael—the woman who links these two generations, mother to one and daughter to another—weaves back and forth between two time periods, this imaginative thriller explores questions of family, identity, and love. Courageous, compassionate Shay finds herself fighting against the confines of a society still decades away from women’s liberation, while Brandy struggles to adapt to the modern world she has suddenly been thrust into. The truth behind this inexplicable turn of events is more complex than either woman can imagine—and The Mirror is a tribute to the triumph of the female spirit, even in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

Always enjoy a time-travel read.
I’ve read this book several times. Its one of the most original time travel books I’ve read.
Way out there in concept but interesting. Kept me on the edge of my seat
Entertaining read. Two lives turned upside down. Experiencing the changes the two main characters must and do adapt to. Humor, adventure, romance and happy endings.
I feel like I have been reading this book forever. The story line is a good idea but the details go on and on forever. It is very hard to follow at times. I am so far into the book now that I have to finish reading it to see what happens.
This is that one book that imprinted itself on me. I remember it well YEARS after I read it the first time. The heroine’s situation is frustrating but feels so plausible. What would you do if you were stuck in a century not yours originally? Eventually you would accept that everyone thinks you’re crazy and you have to make a life here. Masterful story-telling, vivid characters, believable romance, and wonderful secondary characters.
I first read this book when it was published. I read it about once a year and it never gets old. It is about a girl who switches places with her grandmother the night before each where suppose to get married. It is such a fun book.
This was an interesting story and a good subject for fantasy. At times I had to slow down and reread certain paragraphs to clear confusion and keep on the correct thought. The end wasn’t what I hoped for, but it was okay. It leaves the door open for a continuation of this story.I usually feel that’s a trick by writers to see the next book as another episode, but in this case I wouldn’t mind.I thought it was a little slow moving and more lengthy than it needed to be, but I understood the writers need to describe the differences in Shay’s and Brandy’s everyday new lives.
It took me awhile to really get into this book, and after reading the first time I’ll have to go back and read to really get a feel for the parallels and family connections. Original and thoughtful, I e enjoyed it in the final chapters.
I have owned four of this book, I loan it and they love it so much it doesn’t come back. Glad to get it on my e-reader so I can keep it. I love, love, love this book. So much to think about. How would it feel to have this happen. it was wonderful.
This was a good read. Very original.
Loved this book. The premise was great. So many twists, loops and trails kept my interest that I really couldn’t put it down. Truly, it was a book that I was sorry to see end.
Well written and tragic. A heavy dose of how out of control life is with a bit of magic thrown in.
Very interesting and original premise. I kept waiting for a particular resolution and it never came. Very much a page turner.
One of the few books I have read many, many times. A great “what if” kind of story.
iT DIDN’T REALLY END…
Love love love this book. Haunting story
From the very first page I was captured and drawn in by the characters. Great read
I read this book when I was … maybe 12. And when I saw it on book bub I had to give it a second try.
Now in my forties I enjoyed it the second time around a little less than I remembered but it was still an entertaining read
Wonderful story that captured me from the beginning.
