Caderyn is the sexiest–and perhaps craziest–man Bridget has ever laid eyes on. He may have rescued her from death, but who’s going to rescue her from him? With all the right moves, the man is a walking seduction that’s too hard to resist. Sparks fly. Desires heat. But there’s one small problem. He claims they’re trapped in the lost city of Atlantes, living on a cursed island deep within the … ocean.
Lords of the Abyss Series
Paranormal Shifter Underwater Romance
more
A ship of scientists had been working all day when they saw a man floating in the water. He was alive but kept talking about monsters. There was wooden wreckage floating all around. The man was dressed in strange old type clothing. They got him onboard and sedated him because he couldn’t calm down.
As the crew discussed what might have happened, something struck their ship hard enough that one of the men was flung over the side. They got him back onboard and tried to spot what had struck them as it continued to do so. They lowered a net and caught something. Bridget thought she saw a merman! But before they pulled it up, the net was ripped and came up empty. Then their ship started to break apart!
Caderyn, a member of one of the hunter teams, is a merman shifter who saves Bridget Dutton, a marine biologist, from a sea monster, a Scylla water spirit, and now he wants to make her his. Although many may find Bridget annoying (because yes, she was), she makes Caderyn happy and gives him the opportunity of having someone to share his life.
We are given some interesting background history about their underwater dome and how women are added to their community as they are rescued from death at sea. Is Bridget going to finally believe and accept what he tells her? Will she be satisfied with the future he has to offer her under the sea?
This is a unique, intriguing, and engaging mermen romance. Characters are well written and developed. Steamy, compelling and descriptive this is a book I did not want to put down.
Amazing Underwater Adventure!
Shipwrecks and mermen make for a great start, and the story just gets better from there! I really sympathized with Bridget; her entire world has been turned upside down, she ends up married without knowing it, and she feels threatened because her identity as a scientist is threatened. How she eventually comes to terms with her situation and admits her love for Caderyn made for the sweetest, spiciest love story. Loved it, and I’m looking forward to adventuring into the rest of this series!
What a creative, engaging and steamy book this was from a new-to-me author. I enjoyed how the science and the fantasy melded, that the romance was at the forefront of the story.

This is the first book in a series. I loved this book! A merman saving a woman and claiming her. So hot! Let us not forget to mention that this book has an amazing twist on Atlantis. There is everything you can ask for in this addicting story. It pulls you in and I never wanted the story to end! This is a must read!

This book 1 in the Lords of the Abyss Book Series is a steamy standalone shifter Romance with a tough, rugged and irresistibly sexy alpha male and sassy, sometimes irritating female. This very well written book has amazing characters who are very well crafted with good histories. This has an amazing storyline to read with good depth and world construction. The Characters in this book are well written with issues which they resolve and the characters evolve in the stories. This will be worth your while.

The more I think about what I read in this novel, the more I feel the need to reread it. It was so good I almost doubt my recollection. I liked the sound of the book description, but it did not prepare me for the literary ride I then travelled. A brilliantly addictive author writing books that become addictive. Compelling, intriguing and emotive – absolutely perfect.

The detail to character development, describing the scenes and the character’s emotions without over doing it, was awesome. The interaction and chemistry between the characters was awesome. The plot line was awesome. The world came alive, I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Great merman romance with well developed characters and plenty of action and plot. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Underwater Savior
Michelle M. Pillow’s first book in her series ‘The Lords of the Abyss’ is definitely an interesting story. This is the first time I’ve ever read about Merr shifters and I thought it was fascinating. Caderyn and Bridget, the main characters, have a bumpy relationship at first because Bridget can’t believe they’re living under Atlantis. After she finally accepts her new reality, their relationship begins to evolve. I really enjoyed this story. Highly recommended and definitely a MUST read!
I enjoyed reading this story in a box se, it was entertaining and has a great storyline. I can’t wait for more from this author. I received this book in a box set as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
Michelle M Pillow must have a magical pen. I’ve never gotten into the mermaid/merman books UNTIL now! It was actually based in the Atlantis mythos & not just another shifter book. The world building is exquisite and the characters are very likable. Not to mention the parts dripping with sex. Caderyn is hot, hot, hot! Bridget though, is so frazzled at times you want to smack her upside her head and at other times so excited you can’t help but smile. This is easily a 10 star book and I highly recommend it!
enjoyable beginning … excited to read more of this series
In general i am very cautious with every book that contains Greek language, mythology and in general anything Greek and also i am very cautious with every book that contains mermaids or merpeople in general due to a traumatic experience with a book in the past but i have to admit that this book was really intresting and entairtaining.
I loved the characters and how fun the interaction between them was.
Also loved the world builting of the underwater dome and society .
The heat level was high between the main characters and i loved it.
A great beginning to a series.
Michelle M. Pillow has always written interesting series, no matter the setting. This one is no different, but the location is Atlantes, or what we would call Atlantis. Caderyn is the hunter, a Mer, and Bridget is a Marine Biologist. This book is the introduction to the series Lords of the Abyss. Besides our two main characters, we are introduced to several secondary characters, who will have their own stories. This book follows the format the author has used in other books, but still works well for this story. All in all, this book kept my attention, and I will continue to read the other books in this series. I received a copy of this book from the author to read, and this is my honest opinion.
When I started to read this advance copy, I realized I’d already read it and found I had done so two years ago. The fact I could remember the plot after having read over 1400 books since I read it must mean it was memorable. I must have gotten this book in KU because it wasn’t anywhere in my Cloud.
Below is the review I wrote two years ago:
I don’t normally read stories about Mermen and didn’t think I would like this one but I was pleasantly surprised. This one had a little bit of danger, plenty of discovery, lots of steam and a realization of what one really wants. I hope the next book in the series will follow Bridget and Caderyn’s story while exploring another couple. There were other women and men introduced that I am sure we will see more of in the future.
Fantastic paranormal shapeshifter story! I love paranormal shapeshifter books but have never read a merman/mermaid shifter book. The Mighty Hunter is a fun and hot take on merfolk, and I can’t wait to read the other book in this series I want to learn more about the other survivors, the history of the Atlanteans and Olympians (mermaids/sirens).
I received an ARC from BookSprout in exchange for my honest review.
Pros: a love story with an HEA. Atlantes and the merr people. Unknown creatures in the deep abyss. Villains you don’t expect. Sexy times.
Cons: The first story in any series is always a bit of a download of information. Introducing the reader to a new and intriguing setting with all of the lore can be overwhelming.
An interesting start to a new series for me. Just how does ships from the 1800s and the 2000s meet in the same spot? What are the scylla? And will there be a redemption of one the Olympians?
I loved this book! I adore mythology and the thought of Merfolk, so this book was very enjoyable. I will be reading the rest of this series for sure!
