This series was totally unexpected. I’ve heard amazing things about Marie Lu’s books for a while now, and I thought I’d start with The Young Elites since I love X-Men and am always down for a society of teens with genetic mutations. The series definitely had the superpowers I was hoping for, but what I loved most about it was that it was so much darker and more twisted than most YA trilogies. The narrator is villainous and tragic and you spend most of the series oscillating between despising her and pitying her. The supporting characters are so well crafted and the world building is super unique, and I don’t think I predicted a single twist or turn this series took. I absolutely recommend picking these up (start with The Young Elites), especially if you’re a Victoria Aveyard fan!
Another awesome series completed!
I highly recommend this series. It may be considered young adult, but the series is quite dark, and not necessarily in a gore/horror sense – you’re not really sure who is good and who is bad (main character included). That’s what really hooked me, but at the same time deterred me from reading the last book in a day. However, I’m truly glad I finished the series. It was a great ending to an epic adventure.
There was once a time when darkness shrouded the world, and the darkness had a queen.
Couldn’t wait to dive back into Adelina’s world again!
I was so interested to see what would transpire…..I wanted Enzo to prosper, I wanted Adelina to be exactly the same as she was in The Rose Society and I wasn’t disappointed! This book did seem more fast paced than the previous 2 but I enjoyed that. There is no point dragging something out for the sake of it…..I hate filler.
But then that ending. I feel like I’m not real! That ending! I’m trying to think of the best word for it……bittersweet maybe?
In this third book, we continue to follow Adelina and her quest for revenge. The story does well to tie up some of the storylines and characters that we were introduced to in the first two books. I found the book to be a little slow compared to the other two but liked the way it ended.
The 3 book series were some of the best books I’ve read. Very entertaining, would definitely recommend!
“”We were never meant to exist, Adelina,” he says. “And we will never exist again. But we cannot take the entire world with us.” He meets my gaze. “No matter how it has wronged us.””
This saga was great, I really loved it, the story is really original, the main character Adelina is a girl full of hate and makes a lot of cruel decisions in order to achieve her goals, she lost her prince, her friends and her sister, there are only two elites that remain loyal to her now, and she is losing her mind. So…could she hold her crown keeping her ruthless ways or will she seek for redemption???. If you like this genre, then this saga is definitely a must read and a favorite for me.
This book actually made me cry at the end. This is such a beautiful twisted tale that enterwines with the gods. Absolutely stunning and amazing! The imagery and the details were haunting and entertaining! The emotions were so tightly tied into everything and the ending was fabulous. I loved it! 🙂
