A sexy, sleek-tailed monster.Zantu has evaded the mate-bond for thirty-five years, dodging promiscuous mermaids with vile intents. Now he’s bonded to a human.A woman looking for a reason to live.… woman looking for a reason to live.
Briana thinks her life is over after the loss of her child. Instead, she falls into the arms of a merman who is anything but cold-blooded. He’s wild, seductive, and sets her blood on fire every time he touches her, and soon she begins to need him for more than his magic to breathe underwater. He might just give her a new purpose.
But as dangers encroach from every side, Zantu must choose; keep his new mate at his side or keep her safe.
Either way, he’s sure he’ll end up with a broken heart.

I liked it
Quick read but a really good .
I like the fact by chapter two they get right to the sex lol. It was an unusual but fun read.
Zantu and Brianna
This was a fun read, a new fairy tale. It started off kinda slow but became more and more interesting.
I actually enjoy the concept very much, and as far as the hot illicit scenes go I figure the author was trying to pair it with the mating habits of merpeople. It was a tad on excessive. There were italics issues and grammer control problems, but if a little extra time is pushed into editing this short story has some major potential. For me, the ending is what truly dropped it a star. It was just cut and dried. It was a HEA but, it was just “bam” we are now happy from not happy. Nothing gradual or an epilog to set up for his brother’s story. 3.5 stars on here for me. But, like I said it could really be a great read with a bit more effort.
great series
easy to read smooth flowing story
I love this book. Finally a story from the merman’s point of view.
I liked the unusual composition of mer society. There are a lot of legends about sirens, who have always be depicted in legend as female. This is the first story that asks what mer society would be like if the mermen do not have the same vocal talents. Very original!
First of all, it should be stated that this is definitely an erotic romance. There is sex, and there is romance. Best of both worlds if you ask me.
If you’re looking to indulge in a little underwater merfolk lore, this is a great book (and series) as it paints a very different light on these mythological creatures we all know so well and yet so poorly at the same time. Mrs. Ley’s depiction of the species is unique and simultaneously heart wrenching. You have been warned. There are feels. LOTS of feels in this book. But fear not; there is a happy ending on the horizon!
Zantu (our merman hero) and Briana (our very human heroine) are both somewhat tortured characters who are amazingly tenderhearted despite it all. Zantu’s relationship with his brother and his brother’s child is particularly touching.
No spoilers here, just expect lots of interesting new merfolk lore, lots of steamy sex, some very sweet romance, some emotional healing, and an adorable baby mer. And don’t worry when you get to the end and want more! Rubac and Ebby both have their own books and you will see more of Zantu and Briana. Enjoy!
THE MERMAN’S KISS is a standalone fairy tale read with a HEA. A young woman in a bad relationship miscarries. Her husband seems uncaring and distant. She is depressed and decides to kill herself. She goes off a pier with weights tied to her body. As she is sinking she tries to undo what she is doing but it is too late until she feels strong hands grab her by the waist and pull her towards him. Then he kisses her. She thinks she must have drown because she is breathing underwater. There is a whole world of creatures under the sea that are willing to help and some to harm but he manages to get the human to his home.
This is a fairy tale so anything goes. It was interesting and sexy. I thought it was an interesting take on life under the sea in the imagination. I would recommend it for a quick read that doesn’t take a lot to keep up.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 7/2/19
I adore this book. I can’t get over the author narrating her own book! What a treat. And she did so good. She really brings the story to life and gives the characters a great voice. The only negative thing is, I wish there was more! Hopefully she will narrate her other books. I don’t know if she narrates for other authors but she should! Great job!
I loved the world the mermen lived in. The description of the home. It was sad how the mermaids treat their young and baby daddies. For sure a new take on that. My favorite was the whales and the voice of them. That was so fitting. I can’t stress it enough how I wish everyone would listen to this audiobook.
Can be read in one sitting but with plenty of heat and romance. Discover the interesting different world of merpeople. There’s enough adventure and romance to recommend this story.
The “human female–alien/vampire/otherworldly male” genre is replete with works which all seem to be very much the same, but there is just something about this tale that sets its apart from the rest, and in a very good way. The author writes well and creates an underwater universe that is alluring and terrifying and fascinating. Her characters are likeable and accessible, and she adds delightful touches such as the main male character singing to his human mate, and charming her by blowing bubbles into her hair. A really entertaining and enjoyable read.
Weak story and plot.
The story line was dull and boring. Poorly written. The sex scenes were more important than the story and they were badly written!
I found this book just boring, the world was nothing very interesting nor were amy of the characters. There was no real story here, no tension, no climax, the whole thing just seemed half formed to me. I almost didn’t finish but it was short more a novella length. I kept hoping it would get better; foolish me, it did not.
This was a different kind of romance. It was a change from what I usually read, but I enjoyed it. The story was interesting and kept me intrigued. It is short, I would have liked more of their history and a greater explanation of how the ending came to be. Overall, a compelling book.
I didn’t care for this book.
