great end of the series
King Lucius of the Merr people is lonely he has lived thousand of years under the ocean and has decided to take a chance and see if he could survive on the surface because he knew that time was running out for the Merr. The Olympians were threatening their way of life, he came to the surface to see if he could survive above the surface he didn’t die when stuck his hand or head above the water. But he did see someone fall off the boat they were being pulled down fast he swam after and grabbed hold of a woman she would die if he couldn’t slow her descent she was partially conscious he breathed into her mouth he would not let her die, he was sure the God’s had sent her to him. Olivette Waller thought she was going to die just because she didn’t want a creep to put his hands all over her he knocked her down she hit her head and he pushed her over board, she thought of herself as being useless since she had lost her business. This is Lucius, Olivette and the Merr people’s story. I was given a copy as a gift by the author. I am providing an honest review without obligation.
Lucius is king of the Merr of Atlantes. But with the Olympians making a grab for power, all is not well. When he makes himself the guinea pig in an experiement to let the Mer move into the open air, he saves Olivette as she is thrown overboard after a government official gets too handsay and she fights him off.
When Olivette awakens in Lucius home she is understandably confused. She just wants to go home but Lucius is doing all he can to make her feel at home, including getting more of her “gowns” made (read sexy Mrs Claus outfit in many colours LOL),
Lucius and Olivette are a great match, even when she doesn’t see what he sees in a failed florist. I loved the way the story tied up all the loose ends and really meant that the Mer HAD to move on from their life under the dome. Fab ending to the series!
A dangerous test gives King Lucius a beautiful woman. He has watched his hunters find mates. He wants one but isn’t sure the gods will bless him with all the guilt he carries. What he can do is test a discovery that may release his people from their underwater prison even as beautiful as it is. That test gifts him with a beautiful woman who would have lost her life had he not saved her and taken her back to the dome city. Is she meant for him?
There is so much to this story. Big changes for the citizens. Humor that only those from the present time get. Battles. Steam. And a future no one expected.
I’ve wanted Lucius to find a mate. He is a good guy who doesn’t give himself credit. I love the new wives from the present land world. Their hunter husbands are brave and often bewildered by these strong, sometimes funny, snarky ladies. This trapped me from page one. I just planned to check it out–right read right through to THE END. I loved every word. The only problem is that I want another one really soon.

I have very mixed feelings about this series coming to an end. I enjoyed the whole series very much. And the narrator just got better and better, especially considering the narrator weirded me out in the first book. The books are well written and well edited, which is unusual in this genre. The storylines are also pretty unique—once again, unusual in this genre.
The female protagonist in this one is I think my favorite so far. She’s not overly sassy like a Lira in book 3 or whiny and dumb like Bridget in book one. Also, this book tells the story of the king. Which I had been dying for the entire time. It brings the entire series to a close by addressing the centuries-long feud with the Olympians, and what the kingdom does when the dome around them starts to break. All in all, I love the book, but the conclusion felt rushed and left many loose ends. It gives no explanation of the three triplet boys. How it is the gods allowed them to be and also what became of them. No other children? Really? We’re just glossing right over that? There’s also no closure on what happens to the Olympians. No vengeance of any kind? What? I’m glad all the women ended up happily as mermaids with their mates, and I know these types of stories aren’t exactly known for plot development, but these books were actually really good! So I expected a better ending.
All in all, books three, four, and five, were just too short. The author obviously has the talent to round out the stories further, but chose not to in the middle of the series. It left too many loops to close and not enough time to do it.
I’m still giving this four stars because, well, the stores were cool. Just be prepared for a sigh of frustration at the end.
Loving this series each books has been amazing. The characters are captivating and intriguing. The storyline takes you along as the story plays out.

King Lucius feels it is his fault that his people have been cursed to live in a bubble under the sea for so long. With the bubble cracking, they are close to finding a way to reach the surface, breathe air and not die. The King decides to do the test himself and as he succeeds, he also finds his mate thrown overboard and into his hands. He takes her down to Atlantes and things skyrocket. Love this series and all the characters. The storyline has plenty of drama, fun, surprises and romance. It all culminates here in the final book of the series. Love it and now I can reread all six together at once. Well done.

First my usual points:
– I do not do spoilers unless warned.
– Read the summary above; it will tell you what the book is about. I will not reiterate.
– This is a bit of a standalone but the final in a series, different characters in each book, but we first get a better view of the world in book 1 so best enjoyed when read in order.
– No errors that I caught as far as editing.
– The author was pretty new to me but I read all but one in the series and have enjoyed the overall story

Notes/Opinion (personal):
This is a 6 book series that interconnects. I would highly suggest it be read in order as some details were covered in earlier books but not in great detail in later books. As with prior books, I did enjoy the story but felt more detail could have been added to strengthen the world and give the characters more depth. The overall arc of the story is definitely indicative of continuing through the other books (which I have not read at this point). I did enjoy the story overall but did feel that it could be built on a bit for stronger characters. In some ways it felt like a first draft of a book; meant to go back and build upon with more detail. In other ways, it felt like a novella, meant to leave the reader with a bit of imagination.
Lucius is the ruler of the underwater city of Atlantes feels guilt for the curse his people suffer. Two millennia he has been trapped to live under the waves but finally they may be able to breathe fresh air above the surface.
Lucius is willing to be the first to see if his theory is right but something unforeseen happens.
The most beautiful woman falls into the ocean but… Is her presence a blessing or a reminder?
I have adored each of the books in the series and have waited with uncontrollable excitement for another.
This was probably the best yet with more back story revealed and the chance for the king to be complete.
We have seen his mermen find their mates and fall completely in love so I was eager to see this change in him.
It gives us more of an idea how this situation affected the king and his mindset is explored.
I liked how the pair interacted and found amusement in general.
This book had it all and at no point did I feel this series had wound down or tired out but everything good must come to an end.
An author who is genuinely able to breathe life into mythical beings and make them her own.
A talented and flawless series which certainly captivated me.

Lucius is king of the Atlantes, he was responsible for its fall with his greed. His people were changed into merpeople and forced to live at the bottom of the ocean in a dome. He feels responsible so he alone must try to see if he can breathe air. When he does though he finds a woman tossed into the ocean.
Olivette is working at a party and hating it. She has to wear a stupid, sexy Santa costume and serve drunk, groping men. When one goes to far and she embarrasses him; he later tries to attack her. She passes out and sees flashes of scary things. Eventually she wakes up in a under ocean castle and she falls for it’s king.
Lucius finally gets his story but the path of to his happiness is beset by uncertainty. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The Merman King is the sixth book in the Lords of the Abyss Series by Michelle M. Pillow.
I have been waiting for this book because we have seen King Lucius throughout the other books in the series. I was interested to see his side of the story.
This was a short novella. The king of Atlantes feels the weight of their curse. He is desperate to find a way to make a difference in their lives. Many of his Merr have found their soul mates, so there must be a sign that something can change.
King Lucius went towards the surface where he saw a woman drowning. He did not think twice and went to her recuse. Not only did he have a new person in his life, he still had to deal with the Olympian’s that are trying to destroy his home.
This was a quick and interesting book. I never expected it to be super sweet and cute too. With a dash of adventure and suspense. This was nice!

The chemistry between Olivette and Lucius is great, this story is filled with action and adventure. The interaction between the characters is great. I can’t wait for more from this author. I received this book, as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
Finally, King Lucius got his happy ending! I loved this series, and was pleased with the ending. I do hope that at some point we get to revisit all of the characters that we have come to care about. This was my second time reading the series, and I enjoyed it just as much, if not more, than when I originally read it. Great ending, great series!

Lucius and Olivette’s Story . . .
The Merman King is Lucius’ story and how he finds his mate while dealing with other issues for his people. Long ago, the gods exiled Lucius and his people to the bottom of the ocean where they live in a dome. Stories say they will burn if they go to the surface, so out of guilt at causing this problem initially and with concern for his people, he decides to go to the surface himself.
Olivette was serving guests on a ship. When one of the handsy drunks got angry at her embarrassing him, he threw her overboard and she hit her head. Lucius investigated and saw her sinking, so he rescued her, breathing air into her lungs as he took her to the dome. He falls for her right away; she is his mate. Will she accept what that means? Will she be content to live under the sea in Atlantes? With the dome cracking, can he save his people?
I enjoyed the conclusion of this series. The author has written so many wonderful stories. Grab your copy and see if there is a HEA to Lucius’ story. There is also some power struggle upheaval going on, so the excitement continues to the end.
Fun merman romance. Cursed by the gods, the people of Atlantes were destined to live under the sea for eternity. However, with recent discoveries king Lucius hopes to change that, but things do not always go as planned. This is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone.

I have been reading a few of the merman books and really felt this was a fitting conclusion. This one wasn’t the steamiest book out of the entire collection but that is okay! I really liked the FMC.
