This is my third book by this author and I loved it, this might have been my favorite so far. I think because this one touched me in a more personal way. I actually found myself crying through many parts of this story, and it was written so beautifully and felt so very real. There was 2 or even maybe 3 stories going on in this one book in my opinion and they were all Elena’s. I love how the author weaved them all into one and I’ll be honest I didn’t want the book to end. I can’t really explain it without going into too much detail and ruining it for someone else. I’m not normally a fan of flashing back in time but the way this was done in this book was spot on and very much needed to get the full impact of where Elena was in her life and how she got there, and then there was West! I could gush about him for the rest of this review but I’m not going to…
I can’t recommend this story enough, I can see this story touching different people in different ways but I know how it touched me and it is a definite reread for me somewhere in the near future.
I absolutely Loved it!!!
The Memory of Us by Lisa Sorbe is a new adult romance novel. This book pulls you in and doesn’t let go even when the book is done. It is so emotional it puts you on an emotional rollercoaster.
Elena left Wolf Lake once to pave way for her future. She didn’t think she’d be back but here she is after her mother’s passing. She knows the way she left before maybe wasn’t the best way but it needed to be done. Now she is face to face with the past when the first person she sees is Weston. She never meant to break his heart but she did what she felt was necessary. Just as soon as she can get her moms house on the market she plans to make a break for it back to her life in Phoenix. Now the only problem is, Elena’s attraction to Weston hasn’t changed. Will she be able to leave Wolf Lake all over again or will their connection keep her around this time?
Elena is strong and driven but at the beginning of the book, I wasn’t her biggest fan. Once I kept reading, I saw more into Elena’s character and warmed up to her quicker than I thought I would. She was a little brash at first but there’s more to her than meets the eye. I truly enjoyed reading this book and meeting these characters.
The Memory Of Us by Lisa Sorbe is a contemporary adult romance novel. I had never read any of this author’s work but after reading the blurb I thought that this book would be right up my street, and it was!
The story is told from the point of view of Elena Everhart, or Laney as she’s more commonly known. Laney is very much at a crossroads in her life. She no longer loves her career as a lawyer, her last living relative, her mother has just died and she has to return to her home town to sort out her mother’s affairs. Laney has never returned to her hometown since she left 12 years ago and she wants to be in and out of there as quick as possible. So who does she bump into immediately as soon as she arrives home? Her childhood sweetheart Weston, whose heart she broke by leaving to go to college 12 year ago.
I loved the way this story really got you into Laney’s head. The author did an amazing job of showing the heartache and struggle that Laney was going through. The Laney inside her head is so different from the top class lawyer persona that she shows on the outside. I have to admit that there were occasions that I’d have loved to know what was going though Weston’s head. I also loved that we are taken back in time on many occasions to visit with the teenage versions of Laney and Weston.
I really enjoyed The Memory Of Us. Lisa Sorbe definitely has a new fan.
The Memory of Us, by Lisa Sorbe, is a new adult/college romance. This is not just a story that touches on the past, but so much more. The author added layers upon layers of depth within this novel. Elena’s character is multi-faceted, coming across as fiercely independent and strong, yet fractures are evident. She has accomplished much in her life in a small space of time, but the question ultimately becomes is it what she wants or does she need to find something new. Then there is Weston – holy smokes, that is one attractive male – he just melts the words off the pages. When these two characters are in the same room, you can feel the love – yet, is that friends or is it more and is it something that can survive? Lisa Sorbe has created a beautiful story that is emotionally touching.
I have read several of Lisa Sorbe’s novels this year and really have discovered that she is one that I can never go wrong one-clicking. I must say this little gem though, The Memory of Us, is my favorite! I adored this sweet and addicting second chance read. I was captivated from the very first page until the last and found myself reading it in one fell swoop. I enjoyed multiple emotions while doing so too.
The Memory of Us is the story of Elena Everhart and Weston Brooks. As children they were something special and you would have thought they were destined for forever. However, life had different plans. Unfortunate circumstances have thrown them back into each other’s lives again though. What will life and fate have in store now???
The Memory of Us written by Lisa Sorbe. This is a cute second chance story about Laney and West. There’s a lot of push and pull with their relationship and with everything that happened in the past. Laney is a little hard to get to know as a character but the more into the story the more you start to understand why. West on the other hand is pretty open about certain things especially when it comes to messing with Laney and getting her to open up. But once every thing is out in the open will thing work out like they should have or is there too much in their past for them to move forward with a new relationship…
The Memory of Us is a second chance story written by Lisa Sorbe. It is a tale of a rekindled romance between Elena and Weston. They knew each other their whole lives and were the best of friends. Until they became more. Events had them not seeing each other for years, only to meet again.
This story is light, even though it deals with loss and moving on. The author has a way of softening the blow, for lack of a better word. So even though it is really sad, your focus becomes the two leading characters and of course, the somewhat humorous and eccentric secondary characters. I understood each character in a semi detached way, but that in no way detracts from the high quality of this author’s work. It is a busy time and I could not give the book the complete attention it deserved, but I thoroughly enjoyed their story and the enigmatic writing style this author demonstrates. 4 stars.
Anyone else a sucker for second chance romance? They get me every single time. And Sorbe does a magnificent job with these characters and this storyline. Detailed, rich, solid – everything felt relatable and tangible. I loved it from the first page to the last and hated to see the story end. Beautifully written. I will definitely recommend to others.
This is one of those books that I was able to relate to on so many levels, it gave me a pit in my stomach.
I believe this is the first book I’ve read by this author and I love how she threaded the story together. It’s told in a first person narrative with a break in the fourth wall at fantastic times.
The characters in this story are well developed and multi dimensional. Their behavior is age appropriate and they weren’t pigeon holed into traditional stereotypical behavior. Each character is part of the over all story and it never feels like something was added as a word filler.
I was able to read this book cover to cover in one sitting and I will be checking out other books by this author.

The Memory of Us by Lisa Sorbe is a fantastic contemporary romance- with second chances, love, loss, heartache, a little drama, and a wonderful plot. There was sooooo much to love about this book- it has a real depth of emotion to it, which triggered a wide range of feelings in me. After reading Ms. Sorbe’s other work, I must admit that I had some high expectations for this story- and I am really happy to say that she didn’t let me down, this is every bit as good as I hoped it would be.
I love the cover on this book, but it’s the beautiful contents that really captivated me- pulling me in and keeping hooked the whole way through. I loved meeting these wonderful characters and following them through their second chance, they were so lovingly crafted into interesting and unique individuals, who we got to witness grow and develop as their story unfolded. The story was quite emotive, but also extremely enjoyable- I flew through the it in a matter of hours.
I really can’t wait to see what Ms. Sorbe does next!
Thank you, Ms. Sorbe!
This is a second chance-boy next door romance book that I loved. The author’s writing style is easy flowing and the characters are well developed, strong and loved their chemistry. The author pulled me in right from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down until the end. Elena left years before but now she is back to take care of her mother’s passing. Weston is the boy she left behind. If she walks away again will the be a bigger cost? Their story is a must read!

The story The Memory of Us by Lisa Sorbe is a new adult romance book. It is a story that takes you on an emotional rollercoaster and doesn’t let you go until the final page. I loved reading about the character of Elena Everhart. She is a woman who is a successful lawyer. She is someone who keeps her relationships at an arm’s length. When she returns home to take care of the aftermath of her mother’s death, she believes that she will be finished quickly. That she will then be leaving the past behind her. And then she sees Weston Brooks again. Her and Weston had a special and strong bond when children. She left him once in order to save her heart and to pave a future for herself. Now she finds that the attraction and feelings for Weston are still there. Elena tries to keep her distance. Will she be able to leave again? What does the future hold for Elena and Weston? Read this story to find out. This is a story about the power of memories, friendship, love, and loss. There were moments that my eyes were misty and others when the story had me smiling. I had empathy for Elena and what she was feeling. Both she and Weston are characters that I grew to love more and more with each chapter that I read. I could feel the push and pull going on between them and I wanted them to find happiness. This is a story that I would highly recommend reading.
