This book grabs you from page one when a jogger stumbles upon a brutal murder. This scene sets up a page turning whodunit, featuring Kate, a young forensic photographer from New York and her mentor Neville . The plot is interesting with plenty of twists and turns but it’s the interaction of the characters that excelled! This first installment piqued my interest particularly regarding Kate’s memories. I recommend this to mystery lovers – I am hooked and am definitely reading the next book.
Absolutely loved this start to the series. This is my first Gabriella Messina book and I am so excited to read more from this author. It was a quick and easy read that kept you on the edge of your seat from the very first page.
Kate starts off her first day on the job running (literally) late and working on a murder case. Being the newest forensic photographer for the New Scotland Yard. A New York transplant brought to London by Forensic Photography Supervisor Neville Crane. He talked her into crossing the ocean to put her unique talents to use working with him.
The story opens up with a brutal murder scene that leads Kate, Neville and others in an edge of your seat, who-dun-it mystery. It’s a highly addictive book that you don’t want to put it down until you know.
Kate, with the help of Detective Constable Paul Owens, puts the pieces together to find the murderer before they kill more people because Kate knew he or she wasn’t done yet.
Along the way she meets Road Assistant Forensic Scientist Jimi Khan, Sergeant Richard Pierce, Detective Superintendent Douglas Hagen and Doctor Diana Monaghan. They all play their roles in helping Kate feel at home and comfortable while they all try to help find the murderer.
I am super excited and cannot wait to read more about Kate and her new friends. I love a good mystery and this one did not disappoint.
this book was amazing! she can remember a photo that she saw once days later . its all in her mind. so when a murder happens something doesnt add up. read to find out what happens.
A thrilling crime mystery that hooked me from the first page. I enjoyed the suspense and discovering who done it.

Welcome to the New Scotland Yard , where a young crime scene photographer Kate Gardener has come to work . She is the perfect person to work crime scene . She is smart and had a photographic memory. When crime scene photos go missing and men end up dead . She thinks the murderer is closer then she thinks . Will she be able to find out who has killed these men and why they are linked to a past murder of a young woman.
The characters in this book are very well written . I really like Kate, she is smart and sassy. She is perfect for the job because of her photographic memory . She is such a fun character to read . There are so many characters to mention in this book . The guys from the murder squad are a varied bunch . Detective Paul Owens is the lead in the case and he is a no nonsense guy that will get the job done . He works well with Kate and yes there are a few sparks every now and then between them. The detectives and the medical staff make Kate feel like she fits in .
I love a good mystery and this one was good . I will say that I had a bit of trouble at the start and getting into the book but by chapter 3 I was hooked . The author takes us on a journey that has you on the edge of your seat most of the time. The characters are well developed and you can’t help but like them . The mystery is one that you try and try to figure out but you really don’t until the last chapters . This is a good book to read on a rainy day , or a day at the beach . Check it out if you love strong characters and a great mystery .
Kate Gardener is a forensic photographer who was recruited and now finds herself working across the pond thousands of miles away from her home in New York.
Her first case is one that seems to have ties to an older case that seems to be just as brutal as her current case.
But Kate isn’t just your typical forensic photographer. She has a photographic memory that seems to be a blessing when looking for clues and yet a curse when it comes to having to relive crime scenes.
With a second body found, a third injured and possibly still on the killers list, Kate and the Murder Squad detectives must find the missing link between the killings occurring now and the decade old murder of a 15 year old girl.
I won’t lie, I was able to get the murderer figured out pretty quickly. But reading through I was glad that my interest was still peaked.
