He can be a teddy or a grizzly. She’s a genius with a wrench. Can the pretty mechanic tame this cowboy’s wild side, or will they both be left broken-hearted this Christmas?Bear Glover can be a grizzly or a teddy, and he’s always thought he’d be just fine working his generational family ranch and going back to the homestead alone. But he’s had a crush on Samantha Benton for a while now, and he’s … while now, and he’s decided it’s time to do something about it.
But his first date with Sammy is a spectacular disaster. He’s embarrassed and doesn’t call her back, but when three tornadoes hit Three Rivers, his first thought is of the beautiful woman he’d really like a second chance with.
Sammy feels like she has to be the strong one in her family. Ever since her sister and her husband died, Sammy’s taken care of Lincoln, her sister’s son, and her aging parents.
And three tornadoes?
They’ve only added the weight of the world to Sammy’s shoulders. School’s been canceled, and she has nowhere for her eight-year-old to go.
Bear knows exactly what to do with an eight-year-old boy on a ranch, and he offers to take Lincoln up to Shiloh Ridge Ranch with him every day. Bear has a lot of contacts in town, and he’s able to help Sammy and her parents get cleaned up and back in their houses in record time.
In fact, Bear has an answer for everything—which only makes Sammy feel weak. And she hates nothing more than feeling weak. Can Sammy realize that the Lord may have given her Bear so she doesn’t have to be strong all the time? Or will she sabotage their relationship this holiday season?

I really enjoyed this romance. It was a great start to a new series and a new family. It was wonderful having interactions with so many loved characters from previous series. I liked getting a feel for the distances between all the ranches and how they worked together. It was wonderful watching these two come together and work through their differences, and link was such a fun little boy. I loved the pieces of Christmas woven in. They’ve got a great idea, because I like the season to last as long as possible. I really cannot wait for the next book.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This is the first book of a new series. It really sets the stage and makes you want to read more of the books and get to know this close knit family. I loved Bear and Sammy’s story, all the characters and catching up with characters from other Three Rivers books. I can’t wait for more books to be released.
It was an enjoyable story. I couldn’t put it down till I finished it. This is going to be another great series by Liz. Thanks for all your hard work, Liz.
An excellent story of a big family and a warm-hearted community. The focus of this is on Bear and Sammy the female mechanic. I love the way the two of them dance around each other without admitting how they feel. I can almost see in my mind big strong Bear, stumbling over his words, trying to talk to Sammy. There is some sorrow in this story as well, but the entire book is full of home, love, and caring for others. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
(I received an advance reader copy through Booksprout. This is my honest review.)
Sammy owns her own mechanic shop and can fix practically anything. Her sister and her brother in law were killed and she has adopted their son Lincoln.
Bear is the oldest brother at Shiloh Ridge Ranch. Sammy works on their machinery. They have silent crushes on each other and finally Bear asks her out. There are lots of ups and downs in their relationship, as Bear wants to always fix things for Sammy and she does not want him to.
A tornado tears through the area and damages a lot of the ranches and houses in the area. Sammy gets mad at Bear and breaks up with him. Will their ever be forgiveness between the two? I received an ARC of this book and I am giving an honest review.
MECHANICS Of MISTLETOE…..Liz.Isaacson
Bear was becoming more like a bear, with the frustration of equipment not working, and if crops didn’t get in on time, the ranch would be behind for a year. Samantha was the one who keep his equipment running,, and he would like her to come to the ranch full time. She doesn’t want to accept help, and he will find work to keep his cowboys busy. A good story of two strong willed people learning that together to share running the ranch. .
A good beginning to this new series, with other characters we know from Three River, given ARC for my voluntary review.
Bear and Sammy, both have a lot on their plates, is there time for romance? Can they get past all their baggage and duties to find love? They both are so string willed and don’t like to show weakness. Bear, is a huge teddy bear when it comes to Sammy. I love the writing of this book, her style, I just love this new series, I love the peek in at characters from past books, it’s there if you have read them, if you haven’t you wont even notice!! I recommend this for anyone who loves a good clean cowboy or ranching series, and no cliff hangers, a peek into the next brother’s situation, but no cliff hangers, just enough to make you wonder what might happen with the next book. LOVE LOVE LOVE Liz’s books.
Ever since we first met him, curmudgeonly Bear Glover has been a character that captivated my imagination. I feel like I’ve been waiting to learn his story for forever. The relationship between Bear and Sammie reminds me very much of the old joke about ‘how do porcupines come together? Very carefully.’ They’re both so used to stepping up and doing what needs to be done without necessarily needing to take anyone else’s opinions or feelings into consideration that there are a lot of misunderstandings and resentments as they start to navigate their relationship. And, Sammie, in particular, is a prime example of how difficult it is to learn how to accept help gracefully. I enjoyed watching this pair grow together and getting the opportunity to learn more about the Glover clan. I’m already looking forward to reading what’s next.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
Great new series at Shiloh Ridge Ranch. Bear Glover lives up to his name and he is usually a “grizzly”. He has known Sammy for some time and finally asks her out. She is so intimidated by him and he is so nervous that the first date doesn’t go very well. But they both want to try again and being with Sammy makes him want to be more of a “teddy”! Liz Isaacson weaves a story with complex characters that all have different issues. I love the family dynamic that is in this story and the fact that even though they are all different they all really love each other. It is refreshing to read a story with characters that are older and that have some life experience. Don’t miss this new clean, inspirational romance!
Enjoyed this sweet story with two independent people who are used to doing things all on their own. When they meet and she starts working for him they clash when he oversteps and she wants to do things on her own. Great story and characters.
The Mechanics of Mistletoe is a character-rich novel by Liz Isaacson. Each one is well developed and flawed, just as in real life. The author makes a point that men like to “fix” things, when women just need to vent. (I have definitely experienced this in my 40 year marriage! Lol) The book highlights the need for good communication and forgiveness in a relationship. The writing is exceptional and the plot is interesting.
This is the story of Bear and Sammy. Bear is co-owner of Shiloh Ranch and Sammy is the town’s mechanic and instant single parent when her sister and her husband are in a fatal auto accident. I fell in love with the characters: Bear’s capacity to love and Sammy’s efforts to rear her nephew in a loving environment. There are several bumps on the road to their HEA ending including tornadoes, misunderstandings and health scares. All in all, I loved this book! 5 stars.
Bear is getting older and is wanting to finally settle down – now if only he can get the local mechanic out to work on his tractor so he can get some very important chores completed on the ranch – his life will be so much more simple – but then Sammy is not your normal mechanic and nothing is going to be
the same again!! A wonderful read and loved revisiting with prior series characters is a bonus in any book!

Bear feels a pull toward Sammy but doesn’t know how to approach her. He ask for help to Evelyn Walker. When they start seeing each other it seems like a good match but Sammy must battle against her need to do everything all by herself and learn how to share her burdens with him. A sweet love story

Loved this story about Bear and Sammy, I enjoyed reading about some of the other people from Three Rivers. I am looking forward to read about the rest of the Glover family

I understand Sammy being independent, especially after becoming the mom to her nephew and having to care for her parents too. Bear wasn’t interested in taking over Sammy’s life. He was just interested in helping her, making her life easier, sharing her load.
I found Sammie to be incredibly irritating. She seemed to me to be very dismissive of someone who loves her and her son, while she is also being embraced by his family, and he is trying to be supportive in her time of need.
I did like Linc. He was a sweet kid. I was also happy when Ranger stood his ground with Oakley. It was a little confusing keeping up with ALL of the Glover’s, but I imagine it will get easier with each book.
This book had moments of being a sweet romance. I liked that it was full of love, family, faith, and community support. I don’t feel like I can say it had an HEA, based on Danny’s previous behavior. I will say it ended with an HFN.
Bear and Samantha are both very independent people and take charge of what needs to be done. Once they start dating Bear is less grumpy and much more cheerful. I loved how he wanted to help Samantha. I’ll be honest she irritated me. When tragedy strikes the community comes together to help each other and this really brings Bear and Samantha together. The ending was really sweet.
I loved this story. What great characters. I enjoyed getting to know Sammy, Bear and their families. This wonderful book is full of faith, hope and family.
This is a different type of love story. Two independent, stubborn people try to figure out what they feel for each other. The lady is used to getting things done herself and wants no help from anyone. She worries she will look weak. The gentleman is use to getting things done when he sees it needs to be done. The characters are wonder and you can relate to them.
I received this book as a gift in exchange for an honest review.
Bear is interested in Samantha. Samantha is interested in Bear. So what’s keeping them apart? Well, he’s running a big family ranch and she’s a talented mechanic who is running a busy shop. She’s also busy raising a young nephew and still grieving the loss of her sister and brother-in-law.
Still, they get together and hit it off. Maybe they are ready to start planning a wedding. Until Bear does something that Sammy views as a threat to her independence. Can they work it out?
This is a sweet and clean romance that anyone can read. It has some more religious content than other books I’ve read by the author. I enjoyed it and I recommend it to people who enjoy this genre.
Well done characters from two different but equally close families.
The two main characters are both in charge and in control of their businesses and families. Well, one’s faking it and one’s barely making it…
Ok, they’re both stubborn, really into each other, and have no idea what to do about it.
Along with some prayer and some friendly advice, they’re on their way to figuring out “together.”
