He can be a teddy or a grizzly. She’s a genius with a wrench. Can the pretty mechanic tame this cowboy’s wild side, or will they both be left broken-hearted this Christmas?Bear Glover can be a grizzly or a teddy, and he’s always thought he’d be just fine working his generational family ranch and going back to the homestead alone. But he’s had a crush on Samantha Benton for a while now, and he’s … while now, and he’s decided it’s time to do something about it.
But his first date with Sammy is a spectacular disaster. He’s embarrassed and doesn’t call her back, but when three tornadoes hit Three Rivers, his first thought is of the beautiful woman he’d really like a second chance with.
Sammy feels like she has to be the strong one in her family. Ever since her sister and her husband died, Sammy’s taken care of Lincoln, her sister’s son, and her aging parents.
And three tornadoes?
They’ve only added the weight of the world to Sammy’s shoulders. School’s been canceled, and she has nowhere for her eight-year-old to go.
Bear knows exactly what to do with an eight-year-old boy on a ranch, and he offers to take Lincoln up to Shiloh Ridge Ranch with him every day. Bear has a lot of contacts in town, and he’s able to help Sammy and her parents get cleaned up and back in their houses in record time.
In fact, Bear has an answer for everything—which only makes Sammy feel weak. And she hates nothing more than feeling weak. Can Sammy realize that the Lord may have given her Bear so she doesn’t have to be strong all the time? Or will she sabotage their relationship this holiday season?

THE MECHANICS OF MISTLETOE by Liz Isaacson is a sweet, inspirational romance.
Bear Glover works the ranch with his family in Three Rivers, Texas. He’s had a crush on Samantha Benton for months and finally gets up his nerve and asks her out.
Sammy owns the local car repair shop. She’s raising her orphaned nephew, and she’s caring for her aging parents, leaving little time for romance until Bear Glover asks her out. She’ll make time for him. Bear is kind, handsome, and supportive. He’s someone she can count on whenever she needs a helping hand with her parents or her nephew or someone to hold her close.
I was surprised with the title that there is almost nothing about Christmas other than at the end they discuss Christmas lights going up at the ranch at the end of October. Even so, it was a sweet small-town love story with a nice happily ever after.
Enjoyed it so much, I have stared collecting the rest in the series. Great read for a rainy/snowy day
It is a love story, easy to read with a good ending, the characters were realistic and their stories believable. I enjoyed reading it.
I’ve been enjoying this series. Good clean reads. Interesting story lines. Good characters.
I received an advanced ebook and I am voluntarily leaving my review.
The Mechanics of Mistletoe, Shiloh Ridge Ranch in Three Rivers Book 1. A new Christmas series that takes you back to Three Rivers where you see all the friends from The Seven Sons Ranch and the Three Rivers Ranch. This series is about The Shiloh Ridge Ranch where we meet Bear Glover and his family running their family ranch up in the foot hills outside of Three Rivers. He is known for his grumpiness but he had a soft spot for Sammy Branton that runs her own auto repair shop in Three Rivers. She also is trying to care for her aging parents and raising her nephew Lincoln that she had adopted when her sister and her husband were killed 5 years ago in a car wreck. Sammy likes Bear and when he finally asks her out they start dating. When the tornados hits Three Rivers and the surrounding ranches, all the cowboys work together to fix up all their ranches. Bear let’s Lincoln stay with him and work helping with the clean up and repair of the ranches while Sammy works at her repair shop during the day. Bear gets the cowboys also to agree to repair damages at her parents home. She loves the way Bear helps her out until her Dad takes a fall and Bear rushes to their home to help anyway he can with her Mom and getting her to the hospital. The stress brought on by the fear of losing her Dad makes Sammy say things to hurt Bear and he stopped calling and coming around her. It takes Lincoln talking to one of her mechanics about missing Bear for her mechanic to tell her she can get Bear back if she really loves him. A story that will bring you laughter and tears and all the feel good moments of a beginning of a new family.
Two awkward people, strongly attracted to one another, enter the courtship arena with all the fumbling and mishaps that can occur when communication is not among their strongest characteristics. Bear is a gentle giant whose bark is worse than his bite. When he finally plucks up the courage to reach out to Samantha and invite her on a date, it all goes horribly wrong. However, when three tornadoes rip through their community, it’s time for everyone to pull together and Bear takes Sammy and her adopted son under his wing. Men have a difficult time understanding women at the best of times, but Bear is very confused by Sammy’s frustration with him and it almost destroys what could be a very good thing indeed. This sweet story is well written, set in a farming community where neighbours are dependent upon one another, and life is simple and wholesome. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
This is such a great series have love every one I have read.
I had been waiting a long time for this book to come. I really love the Three Rivers books and the town that just makes me wish I could visit and observe how people are suppose to treat others. This book starts the stories of another family with deep roots in an area where people treat their neighbors with respect and pull together when a crisis strikes and help each other to recover. The book is about Bear Glover and the woman he has secretly crushed on for some time, Sammy. Both characters are strong and certainly don’t need someone to make them whole but they really are a great compliment to each other. I didn’t like how sometimes Sammy seemed to withdraw but I love how in the end she stands up for herself and what she needs from a man who would giver her anything if he could just figure out how to navigate that. They are great and I really enjoyed meeting the rest of the Glover family and look forward to the next book in this new series. I really like family sagas and sweet clean romance. Wonderful book!
3 stars . Good book but predictable.
A Delightful Romance… Holiday or Not!
I loved these two characters! They’re both so strong and more than a bit stubborn. She especially thinks that accepting help shows weakness; she can’t quite bring herself to understand that supporting one another is not a weakness but is a strength that buoys both. These two just kept getting in their own way! The hero, Bear, is an especially complex character, having to be so strong for his family for so long and being so tough on the outside, but he has a tender heart and a way with the heroine’s adopted son that was so heartwarming. And I loved that he initially struggled just talking with her beyond the needs of the work she did for him on his ranch. The heroine was much put upon, but she bore up her responsibilities to her family with love and a good heart to the best of her abilities. Such strong characters who deserve love and the person that matches their good hearts. You just wanted them to each get it together on a personal level and then just get together as a couple. A wonderful romantic read, whether you read it at Christmas or any other time.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
This is book one of the Christmas at Shiloh Ridge Ranch series and tells the story of Bear Glover and Sammy Benton. She can do amazing things with tools and is a successful and hardworking mechanic. She often gets called out to the ranch to help fix farming equipment and has caught Bear’s eye for years. She has her own business but also other responsibilities as well, caring for her nephew Lincoln, after the death of her sister and her husband some years before, as well as her elderly parents. She feels she has to do everything for them and not allow anyone to help her, not allow anyone to see her fail. Bear is the oldest of the Glover clan and has run their family ranch for years. He thinks he can live a single life and just work on the ranch and then send his nights alone, but he has crushed on Sammy for years and finally pushes himself to ask her out. Not that the first date goes well on either of their sides, with them both being really nervous! Bear may seem like a grizzly bear from his size and appearance, but underneath, he is just a big teddy bear. He likes to help people and wants to do the right thing for others.
When three tornadoes hit the town before Christmas, Sammy tries to continue to do everything herself, but the schools have been closed and she can’t juggle work, repairs to her parent’s house and looking after Lincoln, whilst doing her job as well. Lincoln is only eight and her parents are in a fit state to be able to look after him and have problems of their own with the state the tornadoes have left their home in! When Bear comes in to offer to look after Lincoln for her, by taking him out to the ranch and keeping him busy whilst having some fun at the same time. He even starts to organise help to fix her parents roof and get them all back into their own houses, with the help of others he knows in the community. But Sammy’s problem is that she feels she should be doing it all, otherwise she will look weak and that isn’t something she is happy with. Lots of people in town need help clearing up after the damage of the tornadoes and Sammy needs to work out that she isn’t weak, just because she accepts another person’s help once in a while.
A community pulling together after tragedy, a single woman taking on the responsibility of her nephew after he was orphaned, caring for elderly relatives, running businesses and the romance of two people getting to know each other better, who have an attraction to each other and one who just needs to let her shields drop a little! A small town romance, with highs and lows, but lots of humour with a disaster of a first date, and love for a young boy who lost everything from both Bear and Sammy. A protective and compassionate teddy bear of a cowboy would be top of my list of the type of man to take a first and even a second chance with. A holiday season with love on the books if only one side of the equation can let loose just a little. Another cracking good story from this author and further adventures in love from Three Rivers. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Handsome cowboy Bear Glover who enjoys taking care of people and solving problems falls in love with an independent woman who is used to making her own way in life. Samantha Benton is raising her nephew, looking after her parents and running her own auto repair shop. Will they learn to discuss their feelings with each other and follow God’s leading, or is this romance over before it really gets started? This book is the first in a new series, and it starts off with fireworks!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Charming and entertaining story. There are lots of twists and turns with the story as the characters journey toward romance and love. It’s always an inspiration to read a book where the characters have growth. Good read.

Bear is seriously brooding and swoony. Like a cowboy Darcy. Loved his quiet stalwart ways and his desire for some well deserved happy. The introduction to all the new characters left me wanting to know their stories and I will definitely be following this series.
Bear runs the family ranch and Samantha is the mechanic who keeps the farm equipment running. After a couple of years working together Bear finally gets the courage to ask out Sammy it doesn’t go well. These two go through so much to get their HEA in this small town romance. This is a well written book with likable characters, real life problems, tornados, misunderstanding, romance and a great ending.
his is a wonderful story of two people that have a lot on their plate. if you like romance and what happens in families you will like the book
Another Glover brother is looking for a wife! “Bear” Glover is sometimes a grizzly but other times, he is a teddy bear or panda! He sure is attracted to Samantha “Sammy” Benton, a local mechanic, but doesn’t think she would be interested in him. In fact their first date is a dud! Bear is busy running a large ranch and Sammy owns a garage besides caring for her parents and her adopted son. They don’t have much time to see each other when you throw in tornado damage! This is a sweet story of two people who don’t think anyone could love them finding true love. I received a complimentary e-book from Liz Isaacson. This is my honest opinion.
Great storyline and character development made this book a hot and enjoyable read! Extremely entertaining, captivating and interesting sexy read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong, intriguing characters. I want to read more from this author.
This is an excellent story with mature characters who are looking to make a change in life to include a long lasting love. The plot is interesting, the characters are strong and very likeable. The dialogue is realistic. The author has created a ranch/town that you begin to care for. You want to continue to see what happens to the other characters as well as the key couple! I highly recommend this book and look forward to others in the series
This is a clean live story and so much more. This revolves around the lives and loves of the Glover family. It has such character development with a couple of main characters in each story but the secondary characters are numerous and play vital roles. The plot is unique and and the challenges to the relationships feels real. I found it easy to become immersed in this story. Not wanting to put it down. I’m thrilled that it is a series because I definitely want more. The story line is rich and you can picture the ranch and town easily with all the details. This is a clean Christian romance with some kissing but in my opinion would be suitable for all ages.
