Wingman rule number two: never reveal how much you want them.Lex hates Gabi. Gabi hates Lex. But, hey, at least the hate is mutual, right? All Lex has to do is survive the next few weeks training Gabi in all the ways of Wingmen Inc. and then he can be done with her. But now that they have to work together, the sexual tension and fighting is off the charts. He isn’t sure if he wants to strangle … wants to strangle her or throw her against the nearest sturdy table and have his way with her.
But Gabi has a secret, something she’s keeping from not just her best friend but her nemesis too. Lines are blurred as Lex becomes less the villain she’s always painted him to be…and starts turning into something more. Gabi has always hated the way she’s been just a little bit attracted to him—no computer-science major should have that nice of a body or look that good in glasses—but “Lex Luthor” is an evil womanizer. He’s dangerous. Gabi should stay far, far away.
Then again, she’s always wanted a little danger.

As I’ve come to expect with RVD books, I devoured this one. I read The Matchmakers Playbook a couple of years ago, and ever since then have wanted to read Lex and Gabi’s story. I was not disappointed.
The dynamic and chemistry between these two is amazing, and I loved being along for the ride. I’m always a sucker for enemies to lovers and so I was bound to fall easily for this one. These two just work well together even though they constantly bicker. They just fit, and it’s a great story. There are also some great friendships in here and a couple of more serious issues that do get presented in the story as well.
I also really love the kindle in motion feature of this book. I deliberately read it in the kindle app so I could experience this feature, as my actual kindle does not support it. Its a great little fun addition to the book.
I read this in basically one sitting, and definitely recommend.
The Matchmaker’s Replacement is the second book in the Wingmen Inc. Series. You can read it as a standalone but I recommend also reading the first book to get the feel for all of the characters involved. Plus, it’s fucking awesome!
Ian and Gabi. Lex and Ian. They used to all be together until Lex moved across town, and Gabi and Lex were separated. Their only connection was Ian. Their best friend. That lasted until a party Freshmen year in college when they all landed in the same room. That was when one hot reunion was suddenly the start of a verbal sparring of insults mixed with sexual tension between Lex and Gabi. And four years later it’s still going strong and steady. They couldn’t be in the same room without a fight. And they are in the same room a lot. They work together at Wingmen Inc., share a best friend, and now he has to train her. Wingmen, Inc has taken on male clients so Gabi is getting promoted to get them who they desire. Even when she can’t get the one she does…
Lex might look like perfection on the outside but he was an asshole on the inside. She knew this but she was still attracted to him. She hated it. Hated him for making her feel this way. Four years of hate. Four years of sparring. Four years of wanting him. Four years of watching him being a Manwhore. What she didn’t realize was that he hated what she was doing to him too.
Lex has wanted her for four years. But instead of acting on his feelings he took the fighting. Four years of it. He has always know Gabi was off-limits. She was like a sister to Ian, and he couldn’t lose his best friend. He kept his distance but now things are changing. He has to train her which means he has to be alone with her. To stay close. To keep her safe. Lines start to blur. One minute they would be yelling at each other and the next their bodies were fused together. Then right back to yelling. It was their only way to let one another know there was some kind of emotion between them. But, what happens when they want more? What will happen when they are tired of hiding from Ian? From themselves and each other? Is losing Ian worth it?
I love Lex and Gabi! Sure, I wanted to smack Lex more than a few times but I knew what he was up to so I still loved him. His actions speak louder than words. And Gabi…she is strong, confident, and sassy. She doesn’t put up with Lex’s shit and it’s funny as fuck. Their fighting is The. Best. Ever. It makes their chemistry even hotter. I so needed this book. I needed the laughs. I needed the banter. I needed the heat. I also needed the cry! It was perfection in my book.
Overall…if you want a hilarious and sexy read, this is it!
Quotes:
“Sunshine,” he said, his smirk deepening as he crossed his burly arms over his chest. “Dickhead.” I smiled sweetly. “New glasses? They look thicker than last time.”
“Better to see you with.” He leaned forward, his eyes narrowing into tiny slits. “There they are.” He reached for one of my boobs.
“Kitty will scratch your eyes out if you say ‘kitty’ one more time.”
“He’ll make a great mom someday,” Gabi joked as she slowly unbuckled her seat belt and got out of the car.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series. I hurried and grabbed this book and it didn’t disappoint. We finally learn the reason for Lex and Gabi’s cruel banter, tension, and hate for each other that had been with them through Ian and Blake’s story. I loved their banter as enemies and when they crossed over to lovers.
I did not want this book to end!!! I Loved Lex and Gabi from the first book and was stoked to see their story play out in their own book.
Man I was not disappointed!!! I loved that while they fell harder for each other they kept their same banter. I really wish passionflix had done this one too. I would love to see Lex and Gabi unfold on screen.
I love Rachel’s Wingmen books. I read this in two days and I have a solid book hangover now that I’m finished.
The Matchmaker’s Replacement is the story of Gabi and Lex. He’s been enamored with her for years but, since Ian is his best friend and Lex has always been a manwhore, Gabi is off-limits.
There’s SO MUCH chemistry between Gabi and Lex. So. Flipping. Much. Even in the first book, I could tell that beneath the smart assed comments and back-and-forth banter, these two were sweet on each other. It was nice getting to see more of the backstory between the two of them in this book. It made complete sense to me why Lex acts the way he does and why Gabi’s defenses are up and she’s got these huge walls built when it comes to him.
This was a fun one to read. We got to see plenty of Ian and Blake, whom I fell in love with when I read the first book. The plot of this one was fun too, with the new male clients and bringing on Gabi as a Wingman employee.
I love these characters and I’m so sad there’s only two books in this series! I’ll have to dive into more RVD books now to deal with the book hangover.
Five stars to this novel!
This book is everything! The book is mixture of best friend’s sister and enemies to lovers trope and Rachel had shown it amazingly. She had done it once again! It is definitely one of those books where you can’t seem to put it down. Love it so much and specially Sexy Lexy.
The perfect enemies to lovers story! Lex and Gaby have an interesting relationship and even though they really are friends they are frenemies but with Ian as a buffer until lines are crossed and they become lovers. So, so good!

I really enjoyed reading The Matchmaker’s Replacement. The characters and story were very good, as well as, the pace of the book. I look forward to reading the Book 1.
Seriously! This book and The Matchmaker’s Playbook are the best reading experiences EVER! And the Audible narrators are Supreme! They don’t just narrate the story, they act it out. This was incredible!
I knew after the first book that Lex and Gabi were going to have some seriously intense sexual tension. All the insult slinging was their personal form of foreplay. They were the ultimate frenemies and it led to some very comical and entertaining moments.
Just WOW!
Lex became my favorite
I honestly thought Ian was the best after reading the first book. But after reading this one, I’m a total Lex fan. It’s hard not to like him. And honestly, even the worst of them buckle to the ground. Lex and Gabi were perfect. And the chemistry could not be mistaken. I laughed, I even teared up. It was a mazing
Lex I think is scared of Gabi at times and it’s interesting to watch his reactions, “when I turned, Gabs had a knife in her hand and a devious smirk on her face. “Oh hell,” I muttered. “We need more alcohol.” Lex is such a dramatic boy at times, “Gabs, don’t get me wrong, my ***k really appreciates all the staring you’re doing right now, but since it’s not up for another performance for at least another hour, you need to stop before I get depressed.” I liked this book,I loved Lex.
Oh my goodness, these two! I couldn’t wait to read Lex and Gabi’s story and it was everything I had hoped it to be. Gabi’s sassiness, Lex’s cockiness, and their banter had me laughing constantly. Their wit, chemistry, and tension is of the charts and I loved the way this all played out!
“Perfect Enemies to Lovers story!”
What made the experience of listening to The Matchmaker’s Replacement the most enjoyable?
The characters, RVD writes such fantastic characters! And the banter- so witty and entertaining, you want the book to go on and on.
What did you like best about this story?
I loved that Lex and Gabs stayed true to who they are throughout the story, even after they fell for each other. The teasing and arguing- it was all so “them” and it worked so well!
Which scene was your favorite?
Goodness, which one wasn’t a favorite??? I really enjoyed the moments in Lex’s pov, when we’d see his vulnerability come through as he was realizing he was falling for Gabby.
And when Gabby “burritoed” Lex was so funny!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! But I listened to it during my commute to and from work- I wish I had the kind of job where I could have earbuds in and listen all day.
Any additional comments?
I loved this duet! It was so fun and engaging.
