Where the training is intense and the contracts absolute?
Let’s take a beautiful young and vibrant woman with very limited experience in the BSDM world, who is down on her luck. She is filled with desperation to just get her life back on track, anyway she possibly can. Opportunity strikes in the most unlikeliest of places – a BDSM Auction house. Where the training is intense and the exchange of contracts between The Auction House, Master and Slave are absolute.
Claire Thompson will take you on a journey that is dark, it’s gritty, it’s intense. However, despite how absolute contracts are, no matter how intense the auction training was… Carly finds herself in the hands of a Master Sadist. Adam is very clinical in what he wants and what he expects from Carly at all times.
For Carly and Adam…their days will be all about learning to have open and honest communication of our true desires and what fears we have. The level of the play that Adam craves, is an intensity that not only demands trust but it needs to have your fears exposed or the consequences are dire!
Carly is apprehensive, she knows she is hiding her experience and fears from Adam. Though she is intrigued by the opportunities Adam presents to her with all she has because at the back of her mind the payoff is worth it. However… things start to go horribly wrong, as the intensity heats up and the level of emotions between two people become more. Do you rise above those challenges and take charge or or give in and run from them? Actions always have consequences.
Claire writes with passion and focus. Her words and scenes are highly descriptive, the content beautifully explained for those that may not have an understanding of this lifestyle. You feel the fears, the emotion and tension, frustrations and angst of the characters. this is a relationship that is not to be entered into lightly.
If you love a read that is darker in content and darker than usual BDSM play… take Carly’s journey with her, as you find yourself turning these pages wanting to know more and see where Adam takes her and what it takes to be a submissive slave/sub to the man, the sadist, the Master, who captures her undivided attention.
Carly has limited D/s experience but a ton of debt. So she lies on her application to be sold at auction as a sub for 30 days. Adam, a rich man with huge trust issues with women, purchases Carly’s contract. He intends to use Carly as his sub in every way possible, without feeling, without emotion. Carly, in her inexperience, finds herself falling in love with Adam. In turn, Adam cannot understand why this situation doesn’t feel right. Both come to understand that the true D/s relationship cannot be treated like a contract between 2 parties, Without trust (and love), the D/s relationship (like any other relationship) cannot thrive or exist. I didn’t like this story at first because of Adam’s original focus, but came to love the story once Adam and Carly figured the relationship out. As with all of Claire’s books, I find it impossible to just read the story. Her books force me to think and analyze as well. While this was a quick read, it was time very well spent. Great job!
The story of Adam and Carly. Carly need money so she signs up for a slave auction. Adam doesn’t do relationships so buying a slave for 30 days sounds like a great idea.
What I loved about this book is that is it all about trust. Yes, they have a contract and a safe words, but all that means nothing without trust. Once they realise that everything chances.
What I also really enjoyed was seeing Adam’s friends, who showed that age means nothing to a strong and loving m/s relationship.
Great read and interesting. Loved it
This is one of many CT books I have read and it has not disappointed! Carly is naturally submissive (albeit not “fully” trained) and masochist who signs up for a slave auction because she needs the money. She is bought by grey-eyed Adam, a hard-nosed dominant. Adam has had is heart broken in the past and uses these slave auctions to protect his heart from emotional entanglements. But along came Carly. Carly is such a dedicated sub, who truly evolved over the course of the novel. Her character showed the difficult balance between understanding your limits and wanting to please your Master. My heart broke for her in the last few scenes but Adam made up for it properly. Our hero, Adam, is so dreamy. He is complex and resisted falling in love with Carly but fate and his friends had other plans. I enjoyed being in his head and understanding his thought process. Sometime you only hear from the submissive.
The only complaint I have is the lack of non-sub/dom communication between Carly and Adam. They both have histories that have affected them and I would have like them to discuss it. Or at least have it addressed in an Epilogue.
Nonetheless, I loved the story and the sex scenes. One thing that is consistently present in a Claire Thompson novel is the clarity and detail in the BDSM scenes. It is technical so you understand every action but not clinical. A delicious balance that keeps the spice and sexiness at the forefront while also giving justice to the art of BDSM, in all its forms.
If you love a sweet yet darkly sultry BDSM romances, I highly recommend this romance!
This is one of the first Claire Thompson books I read, and as I re-read it, I realized this is the one that hooked me on her work. I loved the set up: the girl who is desperate enough to sell herself for a month as a submissive even though she has to pretend to more experience than she really has and the rich, handsome man (no need to call him a “billionaire,” thank you very much Claire) who doesn’t want to open his heart to the possibility of love again, but does want someone to play BDSM games with. We have enough back story on Carly and Adam for them to feel like real (if perhaps unlikely) people. We also have another BDSM couple that mentor Adam in James and Amy, who are in their sixties and in a full time M/s relationship. (I really like it when characters older than 40 turn up in BDSM books.)
Carly is so desperate that she is afraid to use her safeword, even when she should. She does not want to be sent back to the auction house where she will get nothing of the $35K she has been promised for her month-long service. As a result she has a couple of difficult scenes, including one which ends in a full-on panic attack. It’s this episode that gets Adam to realize and admit that maybe he actually feels something for Carly. More details would spoil the story.
Although the story supposedly only takes place over one week, it feels like a longer period of time to me, and I wish that had been clarified a bit more. All in all, a great read and great introduction to a fine author.
I really like this book. But for the life of me it seems like I have read this before.,
I still continued to read as a great story
This novel was an exceptional reading experience. What most impressed me was the complexity of both main characters. The female displayed an endearing vulnerability and the male was initially an arrogant bastard. I really didn’t like him but I think, in the same breath, that he was realistically created. Not every character that one reads is going to be a knight in shining armor. At times he was downright hateful. He was an unusual dominant. Perhaps very brusque at first but he had a satisfying evolution to someone genuinely loving. The female made elicited a desire to protect as if she were a real person. I could easily imagine her as a whole person. Her reasons behind auctioning herself were incredibly tangible. It might be possible for any reader to place themselves in her shoes. They were two strong characters that were emotionally provoking and natural in how they were written.
The novel was very erotic and moved at rapid pace. I believe that readers of erotic fiction will find that The Master and the Auction Sub was a lively and spicy read. Be prepared to be “bonded” to every word. It’s an exciting story.
I always love Claire’s books. I love a slave auction in a consensual way. I loved the characters and the story. The only problem I had was it went too fast. I wanted more. I recommend this book if you’re looking for a quick BDSM story.
I love Claire Thompson’s books. I love the training, the pain, the submission and the falling in love of her books. Not the normal run of the mill romance but the kink that makes my mind race and my blood pump. I get to live vicariously through her words and get taken to a world far from mine.
A Review of The Master & The Auction Sub by Claire Thompson
Adam and Carly – 4.5 Stars
I thoroughly enjoyed this storyline of a Submissive selling her services through an auction house in order to get back on her feet. Carly has been through a lot in her life, especially the last eighteen months. Adam finds himself drawn to Carly when he sees her at the auction, even though he was originally there for a different sub. The chemistry between them is so strong that within days, he finds himself in a place where he knows he doesn’t know enough about her to be a good Master to her and decides to let her go. Well worth taking the time to read and enjoy.

Claire Thompson’s characters are recognisable and relatable. This is one of her shorter reads, but her bdsm scenes are hot as blazes!
So Carly needs money and is auctioned off as a BDSM sub. She is not experienced as she tells them. Adam wins her and the games begin. There are difficult scenes to read through, but well worth the ending.
In addition to a great love story, I always learn something new about BDSM from Ms Thompson. Carly is in dire financial straits and decides to auction herself off for a month to make some money and start again. But she’s understated her experience & hopes her tolerance of erotic pain will see her through. Her Master, Adam, is looking for a paid sub so he doesn’t get attached. It is a wonderful tale of Adam, an experienced Dom who makes mistakes and is able to own up to them to care of his paid sub (he had a bit of help doing the right thing; loved the secondary characters!) and Brave Carly, who really just wants to please. Beautifully written, highly recommended if you enjoy BDSM romances.
I received an arc of this book and have voluntarily reviewed it.
I just love reading books by Claire she certainly spins such a wonderful BDSM story that has you hooked from the start to the finish.
In this lovely book Carly is desperate for money and has heard that there is a BDSM auction, and okne gets lots of money from it. So she signs up for the auction, but before she goes to the auction she must go through a training programme to make sure you can obey comands etc. There is only one thing Carly is in the programme under false pretenses. She soon is sold to Adam, but at first Adam finds she isnt very good at following orders and she is punished. After a bit Adam finds he is starting to feel for his little sub, and there is o ne problem Carly has trouble sayi ng the safeword.
This book is an absolute delight to read. I really did enjoy it.
This is an awesome book about Carly who is a novice submissive and Adam who is a very strict and dominating DOM. Adam buys Carly at an auction for 30 days and you won’t want to put this book down once you start reading it. The story and characters are so well written that you actually live the story as you read it.
Hard-hearted billionaire dom buys a slave at an auction for her service for a month. He has a past that has left him jaded against love and relationships, so he settles for an emotionally-unattached experience that ends at the completion of the contract. This is the heart of the story. While I’m not opposed to the disenchanted billionaire Dom and down-trodden female trope, I am confused about the relationship and plot holes left in the story.
Carly Abrams is desperate and in a financial crisis after losing her job and agrees to auction herself as a slave for a hefty fee. Her experience as a submissive is minimal and the training she gets from the agency, Erotica Auctions, is only one week. She leaves out some very important facts about her limits in her file, I think because she fears the agency might not accept her for the auction. Still, that omission is just a red flag and dangerous.
Adam Wise is a business magnate who buys Carly. He has a level of intensity and unwavering control. At the beginning, how he deals with Carly feels so much like bullying. Yes, I know he wants a toy, expendable, and temporary. Nothing else. But Adam never makes an effort to talk with Carly about her limits or establish trust before he begins slapping her around. Throughout, Adam scenes with her doing things that insight her fears, but Carly never tells him the truth because she doesn’t want to disappoint him. Though I like that Adam apologizes to Carly after a particular scene that leaves him shaken and realizes he’s neglected to give her aftercare.
At the point when Carly feels affection for Adam, I was not convinced because he did nothing remotely demonstrative. We get a tease about Adam’s past but not a clear picture why he is disillusioned about love. We never get the truth behind Carly’s past tragedy that gives power to her fears. There were too many punishment scenes and not enough romance. Strong BDSM elements. So. Love the author, love the writing, the story not so much.
A purchase contract with hidden complications
Slave Carly, let go from her job due to the recession hitting her company, penniless, homeless, in dire need of cash, accepts the challenge to be a slave for four weeks. Out of desperation she fudges the answer to a question in her qualifier, gets a one week “refresher course” and is sold right away.
Rules and regulations are contractually secured, so all involved parties know what is expected of them. Everything is geared to mutual satisfaction.
But of course almost nothing goes according to plan. Although the play scenes, escalating in intensity, are hot and heavy, they both feel unsatisfied, although for different reasons.
Only with the help of a mentor and a truly experienced sub, the relationship gets catapulted to another level.
I, like another reviewer, re read this book after owning it for awhile and have to agree. This book turned me on to Claire Thompson as an author. Adam and Carley’s Ds relationship moves a little to quickly at times, but the intensity and chemistry between the two is palitable. The book moves quickly, the scenes are well written, and was a great read.
A fabulous BDSM story of learning and growing. I enjoyed reading this story. Carly was so brave and really did not have a true understanding of the tenants of BDSM. Adam, experienced in the lifestyle and he still messed up. I liked how they each had to take a journey to reach their HEA.
