The Master (Submissive #8) was a good read by Tara Sue Me. Sasha Blake was scarred from a BDSM session that went wrong. She is determined to overcome her fears again. Cole is the person who can help Sasha. I enjoyed this read and cant wait to read more by the author.
I was so excited to know there was a storyline with Cole in it. I absolutely love him! He made an appearance in a few of the other books Tara Sue Me has written, but there was never a storyline that just involved him until I read this. I absolutely love Tara Sue Me and the entire Submissive Series, but this one was my absolute favorite, because again, I loved Cole! It’s intense and beautiful, and it was another book I’ve read all the way through in a span of two days. Love this book!
A new author for me, that takes a subject that can be dark and keep it in the light. Love the interaction between the characters that includes some humor. A Dom takes a submissive under his tutelage after her bad experience with another in a play scene. Slowly he gives her the security she needs to overcome her panic attacks. The deeper their relationship grows, the more they need each other to breathe. GREAT READ!

~~4 MASTERFUL STARS! ~~
“He wanted her in his house, in his bed and in his chains. He wanted to push her to her knees before him, bend her over his couch and hold her tight in his arms. He wanted to care for her like no one ever had before and to be the one person she could always count on to keep her safe and protected.”
I have been wanting to dive into Tara Sue Mae’s highly lauded Submissive series for a while so I jumped at the chance when I got the opportunity to read THE MASTER.
THE STORY:
This standalone novel in the Submissive series is the deeply moving and scorching hot BDSM tale revolving around a submissive named Sasha Blake who was left traumatized and scarred from a horrific BDSM session from a cruel dominant named Peter who broke her in more ways than one. When the Partners in Play community temporarily pairs her up with Cole Johnson, an experienced dominant, to retrain her to restore her submissive spirit so she can one day feel comfortable entering into a relationship with a Dom again, she is surprised because at the matchup because Cole has a reputation for being tough and unyielding and terribly strict with his subs in the playroom. Yet to her surprise and delight, he is kind and gentle with her, and of course strong and firm when he needs to be. She feels an immediate sense of safety and comfort in his presence and harbors hope that perhaps she could reclaim a part of her former self and that Cole could be the one to guide her?
Meanwhile, Cole, who has avoided emotional attachments after his long term collared sub, Kate, walked out on him, feels something for Sasha that he hasn’t felt in ages. She is understandably skittish and traumatized after all the torment she endured, but there is something about this emotionally fragile “little one’” that catches him off guard, brings out the ferocious protector in him, and has him yearning to heal her body and soul. And once their training commences, he gradually sees a feistier side to her and can’t get enough of Sasha’s sweet, witty, compliant and affectionate nature.
Although he is incredibly attracted to Sasha, he doubts that she is in any condition to handle his rough demands as his sexually submissive, so he tries his best to stick to his stipulation that her training will be strictly non-sexual in nature. Yet as time goes on and she thrives under his tender yet powerful command, he aches to have her in his bed to show her pleasure beyond her wildest dreams. And after all these months of feeling weak and damage and afraid, the fact that her master sees her as brave and strong rekindles a fiery spark in her that had been so terribly dimmed. She too yearns to submit to him in every way. So when their mental play ignites into passion and they mutually agree to renegotiate the terms of their arrangement, can Master Cole let his sweet “slave” go after her retraining is complete or will he collar her for life?
MY THOUGHTS:
I truly enjoyed this book! Tara Sue Mae is a MASTER (pun intended!) of the BDSM genre and her insight into the hearts and minds of her characters, her scintillating erotic/emotionally intense tone, and exquisite story craftsmanship was breathtaking! Both Cole and Sasha immediately worked themselves into my heart and this story of soul deep healing within a master/sub relationship really struck a visceral chord! I relished the psychological element of Sasha’s retraining as much as the physical.
Cole was a dream dominant… sweet and caring and endlessly patient, yet strict and formidable as well when the need arised. However, first and foremost, Sasha’s well-being was his top priority and the painstaking way he built up her trust was a beautiful thing to behold. It just melted my heart how he “broke down her walls then build them back up again and gave her the wings to soar free.” A wonderful thing about the mental play that slowly morphed into physical dominance was that it gave the MCs time to build a real connection beyond the kink. That said, I did feel that the romance moved at a bit of a snail’s pace in the first half and that all conversational chitchat distracted from the sensual allure of the story. However, by midway point the author really turned up the heat between Cole and Sasha and I definitely felt the burn!
The BDSM scenes were titillating, seductive and panty melting hot, yet also tinged with such exquisite tenderness it made my belly flutter! And the intense two week training session that Cole gave Sasha to give her a taste of a 24/7 master/slave relationship was probably my favorite part of the story! Furthermore, there is plenty of sexual and emotional tension throughout, as well a hint of danger when Sasha’s ex Dom’s threatening presence puts a monkey wrench in her training. And I also appreciated how Ms. Sue incorporated the characters from the previous books into this story. Sasha’s best friend Julie and fellow sub Abby provided wonderful support system for the heroine, and I also loved Cole’s macho banter with his fellow doms, Daniel and Nathaniel. Oh and of course we get an epic HEA too!
Highly Recommend!
