THE INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER “Brilliant….About as good as a thriller can be.”—The New York Times Book Review “[A] nail-biter perfect for Room fans.”—Cosmopolitan “Sensationally good psychological suspense.”—Lee Child Praised by Karin Slaughter and Megan Abbott, The Marsh King’s Daughter is the mesmerizing tale of a woman who must risk everything to hunt down the dangerous man who shaped her … mesmerizing tale of a woman who must risk everything to hunt down the dangerous man who shaped her past and threatens to steal her future: her father.
Helena Pelletier has a loving husband, two beautiful daughters, and a business that fills her days. But she also has a secret: she is the product of an abduction. Her mother was kidnapped as a teenager by her father and kept in a remote cabin in the marshlands of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Helena, born two years after the abduction, loved her home in nature, and despite her father’s sometimes brutal behavior, she loved him, too…until she learned precisely how savage he could be.
More than twenty years later, she has buried her past so soundly that even her husband doesn’t know the truth. But now her father has killed two guards, escaped from prison, and disappeared into the marsh. The police begin a manhunt, but Helena knows they don’t stand a chance. Knows that only one person has the skills to find the survivalist the world calls the Marsh King—because only one person was ever trained by him: his daughter.

I couldn’t even finished it…….
What if your father – who kidnapped your mother who then, had you – escaped from jail and was coming for you? Very entertaining. Original. A good read.
Interesting look into a haunting topic
Story was good and detail of nature was good. It was a compelling read.
Great read. I recommend it highly .
Loved this one! Fast pace and interesting.
Fabulous story. Very engaging. Highly recommend.
Could not put it down!
A different type of story, but very enjoyable. Maybe a little unusual what her husband put up with and never asked any questions, but whatever. Still a good story and I’m not dissecting it!
So good!! Excellent writing and conclusion.
Very good story. Hard to know what was going to happen. Good read
Read it, read it, read it! This is a very different story-line.
If you were the mother of the character or the main
Character, what would you do?
liked it a lot
The writing is good, and if you can suspend disbelief on some things, that helps. The protagonist is complex and I tried to like her, but I was bothered by her love for her sometimes-abusive father and her indifference toward her mother. I finally had to just stop, and didn’t finish. But it’s a good read, if you can stomach some of the things I couldn’t.
I was looking forward to this being a good book. One of my favorite authors gave it a positive review so I thought I would read it too. I kept waiting for it to get better but sadly it didn’t all the way through to its end. I found it strange and boring.
WOW! what can I say about this book. I was mesmerized from beginning to end. I could not and did not put it down, I read cover to cover in one sitting. Thank you
This novel was frustrating, at times, yet, I was hooked on the story. I’m glad I stayed with it to the end!
Enjoyed this book.
Thought provoking and original.
I was engaged right until the end when the book jumped the shark and came to a shockingly careening halt. The mental illness/personality disorders weren’t well defined if identified at all. The damage wrought by the characters was left flapping in the breeze. The ending was incredibly unsatisfying and felt as if a different author came in the last quarter to wrap things up untidily. Original and engaging and then – just a horrid ending.
