“Perfectly paced, highly suspenseful, and heart-rending…enthralling right up to the shocking final twist.” -A. J. Banner, Amazon #1 bestselling author of The Good Neighbor

This is my first read by Kimberly Belle but it won’t be my last. I was stuck to the page from the first chapter and I love how she subverted a tried trope — woman finds out her dead husband has secrets — into something new and refreshing. I could not put this book down.
The Marriage Lie is a fast paced thriller that will leave you guessing. Will and Iris have been married for seven years and things seem to be perfect. They have a beautiful home, loving marriage, and plans to start a family. On the morning of Will’s business trip to Orlando all that changes. A plane traveling in the opposite direction crashes and Iris gets a call informing her Will was one of the passengers. Iris is left to mourne a husband she thought she knew and try to piece together why her husband lied. The writing is so thought provoking and real that you actually feel like your living Iris’s life. The twists keep you guessing right until the end and the last sentence will leave you speechless. I highly recommend you pick up this fast paced thriller when it releases on Dec.27/16
Kimberly Belle’s plot shifts from a romance to a mystery as the heroine, Iris, learns her husband lied to her. He wasn’t on a plane to Orlando, Florida, and instead was flying to Seattle on a plane that later crashed. Will’s dead and Iris needs to know why he lied.
There are three key reasons why I really loved The Marriage Lie. First, the emotions Iris feels are so real that I found myself going through a lot of Kleenex. Second, when the mystery kicks in, there are plenty of twists to keep you guessing. Third, I never saw the ending coming. I read so many mysteries that usually I can predict the outcome, but I didn’t havea chance this time!
First of all, I bought this book months ago and had forgotten the premise…until I cracked it open on a plane! It was disconcerting to say the least to read about a plane crash while flying in the air, but I persevered. I told the cute guy next to me that I was reading about a plane crash and he raised both hands saying, “Don’t tell me any more until we land.” 🙂
This was a riveting read and an intriguing psychological thriller. The author takes us on quite a journey after she deals with the fact that her husband was on the plane where there were no survivors. Or was he? I loved how there were two possible flights he was on (Orlando and Seattle) which keeps the reader’s attention. In fact, there’s a convincing reason for him to be on the other plane–her husband is a keynote speaker in Orlando, complete with a poster showing his photo and topic. Hmm. Was he or wasn’t he? (No spoilers!)
As an author, I picked up on several nuances and figured out many of the plot twists ahead of time, but happily, a few caught me off guard, which is always fun and appreciated. Unlike several of the one-star reviewers, I loved the ending. In fact, I read it late last night and again this morning. This was an exciting read, and I look forward to the author’s other novels. I’d love to see a sequel to this book!
I’d heard great accolades about this book and finally got a chance to read it. Why did I wait so long? This was one of the best books of domestic suspense I’ve read in a long time. There were surprises all the way down to the very last sentence. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Incredible! I wish I could add five more stars to my rating! This story grabs the reader from the first page, and it will not let go until the end. Ms. Belle has created a down to earth, likeable woman. She is intelligent, sensible, in the end does what she has to do. Iris and Will have a perfect marriage, almost too wonderful. It is shocking to read what her husband has done, how he tries to redeem himself, and all along Iris maintains dignity. I’d love to know what the future is for Iris here, but I think a second book would not be a good enough story. This could definitely be made into a motion picture.
This is a suspenseful book built on lies and continued on lies. Nope, this is not one of those other woman/other man marriage lies this is one that will knock your socks off. Iris and Will are a happily married couple, so in love and now planning on a family. Then the plane crash…
This is definitely a read at one sitting book. Grab your beverage and snacks and get ready for a story with twists and turns that will keep you guessing or surprised.
Kimberly Belle is so my kind of writer.
She gut punches hard and fast, pulling the reader into the story and never letting go until the questions are answered.
When you’re happily married, planning your future and a baby but your husband dies in a plane crash bound for Seattle when you thought he was going to Orlando for a conference? That didn’t exist? Whooooo!
I will say this and I deducted no points for it because it’s not Belle’s fault but I cannot, AT ALL, recommend the audio version if you have the option to read it. I cannot describe how poorly executed it was. Holy crap! If you want a character from ATL with a slight southern accent then for crying out loud, hire one to read the book, not one to fake it terribly!
A taut, twisty story with plenty of suspense, The Marriage Lie was unputdownable, asking what you would do if confronted with lies and deceit from the person you love most.
An outstanding domestic suspense read that had me hooked from the first page. Belle writes in a clear, easy-to-understand way, with very little flowery prose so your focus is on the plot, yet she absolutely nails her characters so you feel like you could run into them on the street. A perfect read for fans of domestic suspense.
Amazing ending!
Page turner. Great pacing. Perfect twist on the last page, but I was a little disappointed with the way things were resolved with bad guy. Too easy.
Enjoyable read with twists and turns – not scary just very entertaining and believable.
I loved this book, but I didn’t like the main character crying all the time. It got to be too much.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and have recommended for my book club.
Excellent read a page turner I really enjoyed reading this book kept me thinking for several day after finishing it BUT I hate cliff hangers. Sorry
I had wanted to read this book for awhile and I was hoping it would be good since sometimes my expectations are let down. Not with this book! Really good!
Very well written!
Good read but not particularly original.
It had a plot I haven’t read before. That alone made it good.
Blown away! So many twists and lies. They just keep coming. The tragedy is heartbreaking but the lies break everything. That ending! Unexpected!!
I read the audio version and did not like the narrator. She made a horrible male voice impression and prolonged their voices unrealistically. I almost gave up as she was hard to listen to but the story kept me on edge that I eventually overlooked her voice.
