When she was a poor country girl in a hand-me-down dress, Rosamund saved the Duke of Swanhaven from the brink of despair…only to fall in love with him. Now a celebrated mannequin for an exclusive London dressmaker, her glamorous life is empty without the man to whom she gave her heart. Can a beastly duke and a beautiful mannequin ever find a fairy-tale ending?
I’ll read more.
Class differences, family complications make a great story.
Very enjoyable
Really good story but I did not like the explicit sexual content.
It was a cute story refreshingly minus the soft porn that seems to infect nearly every book these days
Excellent, great read
Very well written.
Great characters, even those you love to hate.
Different story line with a Cinderella like theme.
Was
I really enjoyed the character development and the relationship building. Sort of a Cinderella story with depth.
This was an interesting read. I had never heard of a model to be known as a mannequin. Good book and a quick read.
liked it
Book was OK to pass the time
Really enjoyed the storyline.
This is a great love story and I like the way author allow the H and h to come to really know and understand each other and love each other more than anything and anyone. There are some twists to the story and other characters introduced that added more interest to the story. I highly recommend this book to other readers.
The Mannequin was a pleasant read with a little bit of everything and a few surprises thrown into the mix. The protagonist is a young women who has been taken in by relatives. She lives the life of the typical poor relation who is at the mercy of said family and their three spoiled, wicked daughters who constantly harass her.- Then her life takes a turn when the village’s highly respected dowager invites her to work for her. There she meets the dowager’s son who is in a state of deep debilitating, depression, and proceeds to help him fight his way out of his dark despair.
While she has some setbacks, she makes some mostly good decisions along the way and finds herself becoming a mannequin for a top, in vogue, London dressmaker who hires her to model her creations at prominent venues and events.
Her climb to fame as a Mannequin in that era could almost be likened to the story of a modern day top model.
Of course there are romance and some ups and downs woven into this story as well.
I enjoyed reading this book. It had a good, flowing pace and kept my interest up until the end.
I recommend it to anyone who likes that era and genre.
Enjoyed reading this book with a number of twists in the main character’s circumstances. It was romantic without being “steamy” or “passionate” (code for sexually explicit pornographic writing) which I hate being blindsided with by authors who do not specify their subject matter.
I loved this book. I thought the premise was believable and I cheered for Rosamund to help the Duke heal from his heartbreak and I hoped a romance would develope. It was an ideal story from start to finish. Thank you Ms. Rogers, I will read more of your work with pleasure!
Good story. Good writing.
Even though many authors have written about the British aristocracy, Ms Rogers chooses a more modern era for her settings. I found her book The Mannequin familiar yet refreshing, at times lol funny and other times poignant. Looking forward to reading more of her books.
Different type of story line from what I have read before. Interesting ,but could have been a little more romantic.
