When she was a poor country girl in a hand-me-down dress, Rosamund saved the Duke of Swanhaven from the brink of despair…only to fall in love with him. Now a celebrated mannequin for an exclusive London dressmaker, her glamorous life is empty without the man to whom she gave her heart. Can a beastly duke and a beautiful mannequin ever find a fairy-tale ending?
Loved the characters and the storyline
It was a good read! A little different from the silly debutante in wealthy surrounds, the different station of the characters offer a counterpoint; that was nice.
I loved this book! What a strong girl R. Ashfield was! Beautiful story.
I’ve never heard or read that clothiers in Victorian times used human mannequins, but it makes sense and made an interesting and intriguing story.
Liked it so much I read Mannequin 2!
Really enjoyed this book!
Enjoyed reading this book!!
By the time I got done I was wishing I had the next book. I find very few I keep in my mind, and this was one of them.
I’m quite fond of historical fiction, and this book does not disappoint. A bit of mystery, some romance and some history. What’s not to like! I have also read the sequel which does not disappoint either. Great read any time of the year.
Enjoyed the Cinderellerish story and the characters were well developed. Already reading no. 2 in the series.
The blurb doesn’t do justice to this charming romance. This is more about a personal journey of realizing one’s worth than becoming a nineteenth century model. Still, it is sweetly romantic and reveals an interesting aspect of that life. I recommend it as a great escape book and as a “thinky” novel, as well.
I really liked the story line of this book. It has a Cinderella theme to the story. Being kind and putting others before oneself really does pay off in the end!
Absolutely Enchanting!!
Really enjoyed the book. It has wonderful characters and a great plot. Lots of action and romance.
The Mannequin is a poignant tale of love, loss, and heartbreak. I thoroughly enjoyed Ms. Rogers’ latest work. The almost insurmountable obstacles Rosamund must overcome to breach the Duke of Swanhaven’s barriers and the way she picks her life up when she has to is, I think inspiring. Highly recommended to romance fans and fans of fairy tales.
A great story with many surprising twists.
I loved that this book is a different story from most. It’s pretty and hopeful while also being gritty and realistic. The twists and turns leading to the end are gripping and will keep you guessing. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
Loved it. A good read.
Wonderfully written, moved smoothly. Loved reading this book.
