There are things that women want, and things that women need.I know deep down, with every fiber in my body, that I need Mr. Ward.He started out as my landscape designer, but became so much more. Now, my life is on the line while living with the devil himself. I have been torn down and broken, and I don’t think I can take anymore. The man I need was never the one I married. No, the man I need is the … married.
No, the man I need is the one I was never supposed to have. He’s the one who showed me gentleness, kindness, and true love.
Ward would put up a fight for me at any cost.
I know for a fact, I could be so much happier with him…
But when I come face-to-face with reality, I’m not sure if I’m brave enough to risk it all for someone I’ve just met, even if it seems like Mr. Ward and I are a match made in heaven.

There isn’t a single thing that Shanora rights that doesn’t give me THE FEELS. I started reading and had to steal away moments during the day when I had to start “adulting” instead. It’s not hard to cheer on for Gabby and Marcel (and wish the worst for Kyle, might I add). Shanora is a wonderful, captivating, TALENTED AS ALL HELL writer and she weaves the most unbelievably passionate stories together. That cliffy in book one had me on the edge of my seat, frothing at the mouth for part two and she didn’t disappoint. LOVELOVELOVE! Thank you!!
This book is stunning…. it is always so hard for me read Shanoras books, not because I dont love them but because I know the book is going to come to an end. She is soooo amazing and she has not let me down yet. This is such an amazing conclusion to Marcel and Gabby. I love how their relationship has developed. Marcel is such an amazing man. He was with Gabby through thick and thin, good and bad times. This book gives you all the feels.
WOW, what a way to conclude the Ward Duet by Shanora Williams. We were left holding our breaths in book one. Well Shanora did not disappoint. Gabby is living a life of fear. Tiptoeing in a marriage, with a man that is a walking time bomb. No wonder she was so drawn to Marcel, a man that made her feel loved, cherished, and worshiped. She had promised herself to a man that she thought loved her, but as Gabby gains the will and the strength to push forward, the truth of her marriage and how it came about knocks her off her feet. Those she once trusted with every fiber of her being are the ones that have betrayed her the most.
Marcel knows one thing, he needs to keep Gabby as close as possible and protect her with everything he has. She came into his world like a hurricane, but now that he has opened up himself to her he can’t think of his life without her. He will stop at nothing to take down Kyle, even if it means he could lose it all.
As Gabby and Marcel battle Gabby’s situation, the stronger their bond and love for one another grows. Can Marcel and Gabby survive what is ahead and finally have their happily ever after? Shanora Williams did a great job talking about a very serious topic that occurs daily in our world. It was raw and real. Gabby started off as a weak and silent, but in the end she had a strong voice and will to fight. I loved that Marcel helped her see her worth. Marcel also grew into a better person, finally acknowledging that he too can have a happy life after all the bad that has happened in his past. Great conclusion to a heart felt story.
I’m speachless and breathless!!!
And I’ve got one thing on my mind THIS book is BEAUTIFUL!!!
I’m still dealing with my emotions because I can’t move on after reading The Man I Need. I want to be happy that I could to see conclusion of this duet, that I finally know everything about Mr Ward and sweet Gabby! But from the other side I feel sad because I need to say Goodbye. Em I ready for this ???? Still can’t decide.
The Man I Need is abdolutely paige turner!!!! Gabby and Marcel have my all attention during reading!!! I couldn’t leave them even just for a minute. They steal my time, in a good way of course, and for sure capitaved my heart! Their forbbiden love wasn’t easy but they fight together with all problems with full strenght !!! Reading about how they managed their feelings, ups and downs makes this story unforgettable!!! I know that one day I will come back to re-read their story again.
Must Read book !!!!
4.5 stars.
This is the conclusion to Gabbys story so book one does need to be read first.
I fell in love with Gabby and the delectable Mr Ward in The Man I Can’t Have and if possible this book made me love them even more. Not everything is how it seems, secrets have been kept and in this book we find out the what’s and the whys. Gabbys story isn’t an easy one, her life isn’t what it’s appeared to be but that’s all going to change. Gabby finds her inner strength in this book and I loved that. I loved that she was finally going to stand up for what she wants and start putting herself first.
This is a really good conclusion to this story. The characters are brilliant, so easy to love (except for the ones I hated haha) and the story had me fully invested in it. An emotional story that was hard to put down.
This duet broke my heart and managed to get put back together in the end.
Gabby and Marcel’s story wasn’t an easy journey and they had many hurdles to overcome in order to get their HEA.
The things that Gabby went through were not easy and when she finds out how it all came to fruition, she wasn’t a very happy person. She was mad, sad and disappointed, but most of all she had to learn how to deal with what she was going through in her marriage.
It took her some convincing and finally see the light and muster up the courage to fight for herself and for what she deserved.
Marcel was my knight in shining armor. He really developed strong feelings for Gabby and he was determined to help her whatever way he could.
These two definitely belonged together and Ms. Williams did an amazing job with this duet.
I could never tire of reading Ms. Williams’ books. I love how she always has some type of taboo or forbidden element in her stories and I love that about her <3
The Man I Need was a gripping and emotional read. Picking up from the jaw dropping ending from book one The Man I Need is a much heavier read yet the author beautifully wove a story that squeezed my heart and left me with a smile. I adored Marcel and how patient, understanding and supportive he was with Gabby. Gabby squeezed my heart with how fierce, brave, and resilient she was. I loved watching her realize her worth and how she fought for everything she deserved. The Man I Need is a thought- provoking, heartgripping and emotional read full of hope, empowerment and a love that was meant to be.
The Man I Need by Shanora Williams is book 2 in the Ward Duet. This continues Gabrielle Moore and Marcel Ward’s emotional rollercoaster story.
Book 1 ended on a shocking cliffhanger and book 2 picks up right where book 1 left off. The subject matter in this story is heavier than the previous book and may be
a trigger for some readers. I want to start by saying this but don’t let that deter you from reading this story. It is raw, gritty, gripping, heartbreaking, emotional, powerful, poignant, forbidden, angsty, steamy, intense, sizzling, captivating, fierce and unconventional. Ms. Williams communicated with a deft hand her characters feelings, thoughts, wants and longings. She is a very talented writer who writes beautiful, heartwarming stories.
Gabby and Marcel’s romance is phenomenal in the sense that it has many layers, complex characters and heartbreaking rollercoaster emotions that take the readers on a harrowing journey. And bravo to Ms. Williams for writing a villian like Gabby’s nasty and controlling husband Kyle. This is one romantic suspense/forbidden romance that you do not want to miss!!!!!
My Rating: 4.7 stars ******
The Man I need picks up where book one ended. When I started reading it I was hoping Gabby get the strength to out of the situation and and Marcel will be there to help her. I don’t want to give out anything to spoilers it. You really need to read this amazing duet. What journey Gabby and Marcel took to overcome things. Their story has heartache, love, betrayal and drama. What perfect conclusion to the Ward duet.
The Man I Need (Ward book 2) by Shanora Williams 5 STARS
OH. MY. GOODNESS! Shanora Williams did it again! This book will take you through every emotion countless of times! This book is book 2, so if you haven’t read The Man I Can’t Have, stop now and do it! This review may contain spoilers from the first book in the duet.
Marcel and Gabby’s ending is beyond perfect! This story picks up where the first one left off. With that being said, this book also contains background information that lead up to the abuse at the end. This book does contain explicit abuse and may be a trigger for some women. It explains multiple different times that Gabby was being abused that wasn’t mentioned in the first book. After reading this book, I think back and it connects the missing pieces and paints a whole picture that the first book just hinted at. Marcel and Gabby’s story is perfect for them. I can’t picture any other way it could have gone. Shanora has a gift for pulling off the unexpected and it works!
I thoroughly enjoyed this duet! It has everything that the reader could ask for. The emotional rollercoaster I was on had me on the edge of my seat and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough! I HIGHLY recommend reading this duet, it won’t disappoint!
In this powerful continuation, we see Gabby gain her strength after what Kyle has put her through. With Marcel at her side we see Gabby stand up for what she wants and what she deserves! Shanora Williams writes an emotional and powerful story that is raw and real! Beautifully written with characters that are full of life and passion! I couldn’t put this book down, I highly recommend this excellent read!
This book gives us a little history of when and why Gabby married Kyle( I hate him so much, UGH). It was kinda what I was expecting in a way. I knew with how charming and conniving his is that there had to be more to the story. Gabby had every reason to react like she did. She was betrayed in the worst way possible. Thankfully she had her brother to talk some sense into her. Marcel helped too of course in his own way. This book is shows the strength of all Gabby had to endure. She had to really push herself in this book to get her happiness and be truly happy. I must say this book and the first one keeps your attention and it was so hard to put down. I really enjoyed every minute of this book!!
Whew…The Man I Need is the highly anticipated conclusion of the Ward duet. If you read book one (and you absolutely have to read book one first) you know we are left with our hearts in our throats waiting to see what would happen next and Ms. Williams didn’t make us wait long to find out once you get started.
I have to say I wasn’t really surprised at how everything played out but I really enjoyed “watching” it happen.
Marcel continues to be a pillar of strength to Gabrielle throughout this book. He is kind, strong and thoughtful. He is everything that she needs, even when she doesn’t know it.
Gabrielle is a character to be admired; she is in a situation without knowing how she got there and where to go from here. Her situation is one that, unfortunately, is all to common in real life and watching her gain strength and empowerment was an absolute pleasure to read.
I highly recommend this duet; it will have you feeling all sorts of ways from start to finish.
An empowering, heartfelt story. Every chapter had me captivated the subject may have been a tough one but its one woman around the world deal with daily. Gabby’s strength and courage throught out had you cheering her on and Marcel’s constants by her side and determination to protect her was what made the story whole. There was angst, drama, heartache, passion and most of all love. A great ending to Marcel and Gabby’s chapter I always love Shanora’s words and this was no different. Amazing story of true love and passion, heartache and difficult times nothing makes a story better than seeing an amazing HEA!!
After throwing my kindle at the ending to The Man I Can’t Have (#1), I’ve had time to regroup and exhale. Cliffies, I tell ya!!
I absolutely fell in love with Mr. Ward. He is a man who never questions the baggage he is taking on with getting involved with a married woman. Now that we find out how many bags are weighing Gabby down, Marcel never waivers from his determination to help.
Tough at times to read? Absolutely! This author has brought to the table some real life happenings. With that though, she gave us a strong woman in Gabby. One that was willing to stand up for herself. I loved that Gabby was headstrong and stood up for herself in the times she needed to!
Marcel and Gabby most certainly have a rough road to travel! Will the skeletons in the closet come out and be too much for these two?
This is a great ending to this Duet! I will always stand by my first impression of Mr. Ward…He can come landscape my yard anytime!!
This continued story was amazing it had me hooked from the very first page written with so much emotion you will feel it on every page as Gabrielle fights back she is one kick butt heroine her strength is amazing I was so proud of her along side Marcel which gives her hope he was so compassionate and understanding and really took on a lot and there is a lot of baggage with both as they stand together and hope for a normal life as the secrets are revealed and truths are told. I cant even imagine standing up to someone like Kyle he was some kind of scary.
This duet is amazing and beautiful and so well written it brings you to your knees in graditude that there are people out there that understand and have so much passion in them to just be with you and Marcel and Gabby where such strong characters and so loving and understanding I really loved it.
What an epic conclusion to this duet that took me through a whirlwind of emotions. The story had me still gripped from book one and that ending and took me on another emotional roller coaster full of raw emotion and growth. I truly couldn’t have asked for a better book 2 that really brought everything together for me
What a powerful story!
Book 1 was the “angsiest,” but this installment is powerful, angsty and passion!
Brimming with gritty emotions this story was more than an unconventional romance. It was thought provoking insightful story of hope and second chances in life.
It is not a standalone and after the ending in book 1, book 2 couldn’t come fast enough. Luckily this author did not make us wait long.
Flawlessly written, revelations made, family secrets and skeletons revealed.
Oh my goodness!
Mr. Ward was a true warrior as he stepped up to the plate.
But is that enough?
What a complicated web was woven on Gabby’s life.
Can she untangle it and come out ahead?
This book is full of some serious emotional triggers, and some hit me hard, and caused me to pause.
However, behind all the heartache and turmoil there were some powerful messages!
This series is a must!!
4.5 stars!
With the ending we’re left with in The Man I Can’t Have I was anxious to get my hands on The Man I Need. I knew what was coming but it wasn’t what I expected. It was so much more. Shanora doesn’t hold back and this is one of the many things I love about her writing. She makes you feel everything as if you’re right there.
What I admire the most about Gabby is no matter how hard she struggles, she continues to fight back. Never letting Kyle win. Sweet, sexy son-of-a-gun Marcel is behind her every step of the way and piecing her back together again.
From page one I couldn’t put it down. An amazing ending for this heartwarming duet.
It took me a while to find the right words to convey my thoughts and emotions about this story. It was gripping and evocative. It was crushingly heart rendering yet the self realization, evolution and strength that took place within Gabriel had me enthralled. She did so much for herself and standing up to her abuser. And Mr. Ward…..just added to the element of devotion and heart!
This is a very well written story taking on a very relevant topic in a sensitive yet realistic manner.
