There are things that women want, and things that women need.I know deep down, with every fiber in my body, that I need Mr. Ward.He started out as my landscape designer, but became so much more. Now, my life is on the line while living with the devil himself. I have been torn down and broken, and I don’t think I can take anymore. The man I need was never the one I married. No, the man I need is the … married.
No, the man I need is the one I was never supposed to have. He’s the one who showed me gentleness, kindness, and true love.
Ward would put up a fight for me at any cost.
I know for a fact, I could be so much happier with him…
But when I come face-to-face with reality, I’m not sure if I’m brave enough to risk it all for someone I’ve just met, even if it seems like Mr. Ward and I are a match made in heaven.

Absolute perfection! This story grabbed me from the beginning and didn’t let go. The way the story evolved was masterful. Gabby and Marcel go through so much to be together but it’s so worth it in the end when they get their HEA! And can I just drool over the covers for both books. WOW! Amazing!
This story is not for the faint of heart. There’s some tough material in here and my heart tore in half at times but it adds so much to the story. A lot of hurtful and potentially damaging information comes to light making Gabby question everything and everyone she thought she knew.
I was so in awe of Gabby’s strength. The decisions she had to make were very tough but her inner fortitude helped her through and of course the support and undying love of a good, hot and sexy man also helps. There were some tense moments there when the pressure and the stress of the situation threatened to destroy their relationship. Their bond is tested a few times and they have to learn to push through, especially Gabby. In her marriage, she was rather submissive to what Kyle wanted and her “job” was to please him especially since she felt indebted to him for helping her and her family financially. It was Marcel who taught her what real love was between two people in a committed relationship. His patience and caring nature was just the balm she needed to heal her heart. I loved everything about this story. My heart smiled when it was all done. Shanora’s talent blows me away every time.
The Man I Need is a fantastic continuation in The Ward duet. From the beginning this story grabs you. After book one, I sat there thinking how I had missed the signs of what Gabby has been going through. I was totally shocked. I was excited and nervous to see what would happen to Gabby, Marcel and Kyle. Well I absolutely loved how it all worked out. I was happy with Gabby’s growth and where her journey took her. Marcel is so swoon-y and an amazing man. As for Kyle, he got his karma. This story was well written with drama, intrigue, plenty of steam and very entertaining. Ms. Williams did a fabulous job on this gripping love story.
‘The Man I Need’ is the next chapter and yes I need it like yesterday.. The ending from the last book was a jaw dropping. Clearly, this was a story of survivor. What can you do when you are facing the same problem? Gabby finally had found her strength and voice. The book was honest and raw. It was written with sensitivity since the topic was personal and heartbreaking.
I adored Gabby and Marcel relationship together as they were going through with different emotions. What they have maybe wasnt right but they were meant to be with each other.
I am so in love with this book! When I first started reading, I wasn’t sure how to was going to go. The book starts with some pretty graphic scenes that could be triggers for some readers. Shanora Williams put a warning note in the beginning of the book. Be sure to heed that if you’re sensitive. That being said, this book was written brilliantly. The heavy subject matter was handled in an open, honest, raw way that made the whole story hit so much harder. As more and more secrets were revealed, I found myself having to stop and take a moment to absorb each new layer of this epic book. The characters were all so real. I felt like i knew them. I loved Gabby and Marcel. Their love was beyond all of their problems. They overcame so much throughout this story. Gabby found her strength and her voice and I am so proud of her for that. If you’re looking for a book that will twist you up with every emotion possible, this is definitely the one. I will definitely be recommending this book to everyone.
The Man I Need was everything I had hoped for in the 2nd half of this duet!! It was absolutely incredible. I read it in less than three hours, as I just couldn’t put it down!! Seriously, this duet is absolutely one of my top reads of the year.
I just fell in love with Marcel even more – he showed Gabby how a woman should be treated. He loved her fiercely and would protect her at all costs. And what can I say about Gabby – such a strong, brave, and resilient woman. I admire her so much for standing up for herself and not allowing evil to triumph over good.
Yes, this duet involves cheating. Do I condone cheating? Absolutely not. But this story really opens up your eyes and forces you to put yourself in Gabby’s situation. Do you continue to allow someone who has promised to love and cherish you to hurt you and break you down, or do you allow yourself the chance to have the love and respect from a good and honorable man? I know which one I would choose.
If you read the first part of the Ward Duet, and were dying for answers after the cliffhanger, then have no fear, because The Man I Need answers all those questions and more. It picks up immediately where The Man I Can’t Have left off, with Gabby in fear for her life. Now, she has to figure out where to go from there.
First, a warning, and it’s an important one: there’s a note by the author about triggers, and that warning should be heeded. The Man I Need is much heavier than The Man I Can’t Have, and deals with a brutal subject, so if you have abuse triggers, then this is not the story for you. However, if you don’t have those triggers, I highly recommend you dive into this one (after you read the first part of the duet) because it’s pretty great – sexy, emotionally tumultuous with two substantial, layered characters.
I love how much Gabby grows as a character, and how Marcel is there for her every step of the way. She’s definitely the star of The Man I Need, and Marcel her support. Speaking of Marcel – he is one swoon worthy hero! So even though he’s not the star of their conclusion, he’s a pretty fabulous character, one equal of the amazing woman Gabby grows into. Gabby and Marcel’s road to happiness is not an easy one, nor is it pretty, but by the end, you’ll be as happy as I was that they got all the love and happiness they deserved. Thank you Shanora for this emotional forbidden love story!
A great conclusion to the duet. This one definitely dealt with some harder personal issues but in the end, showed the characters what they were made of. Still had some hot scenes and I am definitely satisfied.
Mr. Ward and Gabby are a must read!!! This duet really got to me!! This comes close to home and gave me all the feels. From page one I had goosebumps and I just couldnt put this book down. Marcel is just an amazing character I just so much enjoyed reading, his scars and pain I felt it all. Gabby I felt everything with her!! I literally felt her pain it was overwhelming sometimes but she is one strong woman!! Let’s get to the steam!! Oh my their chemistry is just off the charts this story will forever be in my heart this author really knows how to write and she writes raw, dark, and realistic I love it!!!! I cannot wait to read another book by this author because I’m never disappointed!!!!
“ The Man I Need” is the conclusion to the Ward duet. I loved how this book focuses on the solutions for the heavy theme we get in the first book. Shanora wrote a book of the emotions and the journey Gabby takes for her life and happiness. Marcel plays a huge part in supporting and loving Gabby thru this. The story also details and shows us, readers what a real man is. That’s were my heart swoons. I love Shanora’s writing and the Ward series is filled with raw reality of abuse. It does get heavy but in the end Shanora brings justice to her characters.
The conclusion to Marcel and Gabby’s tumultuous story. This one focuses more on the two main characters so the pace is slightly slower. The man we all love to hate takes things to a whole new level and I hated him with a passion. Gabby really showed her strength for me and I was cheering her on every step of the way. Marcel had a vulnerable charm I wasn’t expecting. The way he interacted with Gabby won my heart.
A really good conclusion.
This book was so amazing!! It was definitely have you on an emotional rollercoaster. This book was so well written with such fantastic characters. I loved the book and recommend reading this series. I received an ARC for my honest opinion.
N EPIC conclusion to one of the best series I’ve read in a long time…
Shanora’s writing is beyond amazing and when I saw she was writing another series, I couldn’t have been more excited.
The Man I Need is beyond a 5 star rating.
This book was full of angst. So many emotions, so much, that will bring you to your knees. Gab and Marcel are both broken but not beyond repair. They both lean on each other and it’s simply beautiful how much they lean on each other to get through their troubles.
Shanora is a beast when it comes to emotionally challenging books.
Marcel is a beautiful man for sticking with Gabby through thick and thin, the happy days, the sad days and emotionally draining days.
Gabby is one of the best written female characters that I have read in a very long time..
She is definitely a role model for those who’ve been in her shoes.
I loved the way this Duet concluded, it gave me a warm fuzzy feeling inside.
After that jaw dropping cliff hanger from book 1 I was anxious to find out how it would all play out.
For me Mr Ward is the epitome of a perfect man. Kind, considerate, strong, passionate and hard working he’s an all round good guy. The main reason why I adored Marcel, his unwavering support of Gabby he’s definitely a man you want by your side.
This duet may not be for everyone but I felt the Author tackled a difficult subject realistically. She portrayed Gabby in a way that showed her having courage and strength, It isn’t always easy to do. I absolutely loved and admired her a lot more after reading this book.
A fantastic Duet that kept me glued to the pages. It will make you feel every emotion but leave you with a huge smile on your face. Well I certainly had one on mine.
A sexy, strong story that will make your panties melt , believe in love again, and see you can get a second chance regardless of your situation!! Her words are magic that make the book come to life in front of you!!
Shanora Williams!! You slay me EVERY SINGLE TIME!! The way she has all these plots and twists had me turned inside out. She has created the perfect ending to this book you can’t ever predict the ending. I seriously devoured this book in one sitting. The issues at hand are addressed tastefully and in the best way possible. This book was a book that I cringed reading, due to the situations and what the character has gone through, but I wanted to jump for joy when Gabby gets her happy ending. I loved, devoured, cried, laughed and everything in between when reading this book. It is one that will leave. A lasting impression in your life!!!
Marcel and Gabby…. they have been through a lot already. The future looks bleak and hard. And it turns out they will have to overcome many circumstances and situations to get to the end. These characters are strong and witty. Together, they are amazing. Explosive. Off the charts chemistry. Apart, they are strong, but need each other for what they have to endure.
** Marcel’s sexy southern accent and hot body are just an added bonus when reading this book**
This book is a must read (after you have read The Man I Can’t Have of course!!). I swear, you will read every Book this author writes after you read this duet!!!
Loved it!!!!!! Great ending to a complicated love story. Gabrielle and Marcel’s story was one of pain, danger, love and patience. But thankfully they were able to overcome and get through the storm. Book 1 left us with our mouths on the floor, book two continues right from that point. It by no means was an easy book to read at times but I appreciated Shanora’s willingness to give us a real, raw and true story. They’re journey was beautiful to read throughout the pages. Marcel was able to show Gabrielle that she was everything despite her insecurities and what she’d been through. That made me adore him even more. This duet was perfect.
I love you a lot, and I was trying to deny it, but the more I’m around you, the more I realize that’s exactly what I feel! I fucking love you, okay?”
When the last book ended I was like “NOOOOO IT CAN’T END WITH A CLIFFY. BUT THIS IS SHANORA WE’RE TALKING ABOUT HAHAHA. NOW I NEED THE 2ND BOOK PRONTO”
This book was soooo worth the short wait lol.
Once I started reading I was flying through it lol. God it was so amazing and so perfect. I loved every minute of it.
Gahhhh I still wanted to dick punch the crap outta Kyle!! He was so damn evil and Marcel should’ve beat the shit outta him I swear #HateHimWithAPassion
Gabby & Marcel are now my absolute favourite couple she’s written so far.
Now those last few chapters and the epilogue…. *swoons* *cries happy tears* It was just the most amazing end to an amazing duet. I just didnt want it to end. I read it wayyy too quickly. But I couldnt help it.
Well done again Shanora on another fantastic read xx
I loved this book.
It is a very hard book to read because of the subject but so worth it I put it down a couple of times and walk away as I wanted to kill a certain character, YOU NEED TO READ BOOK 1 first to know Gabby’s story, Her story isn’t an easy one to read but it is worth the rollercoaster ride I have been through while reading.
I not going give any spoilers but I highly recommend this duet it is a great read. Very well written and such a good story to tell.
BEST DUET FOR 2019 FOR ME
Wow… what a climatic ending to this duet!! I love Marcel and Gabby’s story so much! I still think that Kyle is a complete a-hole and karma definitely got him in the end.
I hated that Gabby had so much that she was being forced to hide in her marriage with Kyle, but I definitely feel as though it ended the way it should have.
Great story! Definitely two thumbs up!!
