“Ken Follett has done it once more . . . goes down with the ease and impact of a well-prepared martini.” —New York Times Book ReviewHis name was Feliks. He came to London to commit a murder that would change history. A master manipulator, he had many weapons at his command, but against him were ranged the whole of the English police, a brilliant and powerful lord, and the young Winston Churchill … young Winston Churchill himself. These odds would have stopped any man in the world—except the man from St. Petersburg.

It took a long time to develop, but once everything was in place it moved much faster.
This is an exciting story, filled with political history, well rounded characters, and an unexpected but perfect ending.
Extremely interesting and full of drama, secrets and midterm
Good read. interesting characters and plenty of tension.
Love everything Ken Follet writes. Strong characters and beautifully described.
Couldn’t put it down!
Ken Follett is always a good read. This novel delved into an aspect of pre-WW 1 history that was little known to me. The author lovingly creates an excellent picture of the period and its people.
Like all Follitt’s books, this held my interest and kept me reading long after I generally lay my book down and fall asleep.
It’s been a while since I read it, so I can’t offer any specifics. But I got the impression he was trying too hard to be Ken Follett.
Historical portions are interesting. The story itself is pretty predictable, but good for a quick read. Although fictional, the Epilogue was enjoyable because it provided follow-up on the lives of the fictional characters instead of just dropping the story at the end.
It was a very interesting little Page Turner.
Slow and not a good story. I had a difficult ti9me finishing it.
Excellent book but what else would you expect from Ken Follett?
Classic Ken Follett work. Read it. You will like it. Adds to my history knowledge in an enjoyable manner with the unfolding story.
it did not have the substance of furst or kerr which I much prefer
This book has all the necessary characteristics of a great thriller. The characters are well drawn and the plot weaves them together in unpredictable but enchanting ways. It is rare that you find a book that allows the reader to root for both sides, good and bad depending on how one classifies the characters. Truly worth your time to read.
Typical Ken Follet: Fast-paced, real, plot twists, some sex, and a surprise ending. I read this years ago and bought it to read again.
Predicable.
I really think Ken Follett is great. I have read many of his books and hope to read many more!
really enjoyed story up to the ending —
