Sarah Bowen’s life is nothing like she thought it’d be ten years ago. She runs a successful lifestyle boutique with her two best friends, she’s the makeup artist to one of country’s hottest bands, and she’s in love with a womanizing heartthrob who doesn’t give her the time of day. After years of pining after Lex Ryan, she decides it’s finally her turn, even if it might ruin everything she’s … worked for…
Lex Ryan is the sexy Irish lead guitarist for the hottest country band in the States. He’s known as a serial dater, a commitment-phobe, a player who prefers one-night stands. His wild heart has zero plans of settling down—not even with the band’s makeup artist, Sarah Bowen. He’s vowed to keep his heart from falling for her. Until the band travels to Ireland where his past suddenly crashes into his present.
They say wild hearts can’t be tamed. They never said they can’t be broken.
The Makeup Artist is the second book in the Coffee Book Series. It’s a standalone novel, but the author suggests reading Coffee Girl first because of returning characters.

The Makeup Artist by Sophie Sinclair is an excellent read.
Sarah & Lex are great characters with amazing chemistry.
A well written romance with laugh out loud moments.
Book 2 in the Coffee Book series – can be read as a stand alone.
We meet the stars of this book in the previous book (Coffee Girl,) and get a little peek into what could be there (in terms of a relationship.) Don’t worry if you haven’t read it yet. You will still be able to follow along with this book. Sarah is a make-up artist to the stars. Lex is a member of a hot country band. She’s had a thing for him since she met him, which of course she kept to herself (and maybe a close friend or two.) He is a bit of a manwhore and doesn’t do relationships (due to issues from the past,) though he does have eyes for Sarah… although, he too, keeps it to himself. He doesn’t feel he’s the right guy for her. Just when things start to go good for them, his past catches up with him. While for the most part, this is a light-hearted read, there is some angsty-ness to it. There is some humor (provided primarily by the side characters. Gotta love TJ!) There is that one evil character that you just want to slap upside the head. There is the heart breaking break-up. I wouldn’t say there is some grand ‘make up’ gesture, but it does have a happy ending, so they obviously worked it out. 😀 It has a steady moving storyline with a well told story. It reads easily and quickly. It alternates between POVs. There is a minimal amount of sexual content, and not overly graphic.
*I received an ARC of this book.
This is such a great story. I’m in love with all the characters in this book. This story is entertaining from the start, with plenty of funny sweet moments and plenty of drama and angst that keep me at the edge of my sit always wanting more.
I devoured this book in one sitting because I couldn’t put the book down . This story it’s that good.
Sarah is the makeup artist from one of the hottest country bands in the USA. She is also been in love with Lex who is this sexy Irish lead guitar player for a very long time. She has never acted on her feelings because Lex it’s mostly a player that doesn’t do commitments. She thinks he doesn’t see her but contrary to what she believes Lex is pretty aware of Sarah but he definitely has some trust issues in the love department that by the way made me so mad at him.
Everything changes after Sarah decides to go for what she wants .
The band goes to Ireland for a European tour . Lex is back home after so many years of avoiding some bad memories. But with that said there some trouble with Lex’s past that will put everything in jeopardy for a relationship with Sarah. ( and you really don’t want to miss all the drama there)
So this book is definitely A MUST READ !
So excited to get book two in this series and I devoured it right away. I was totally hooked on Sarah and Lex’s story and it was an all nighter yet again!
Continuing with the Coffee theme, three years ago Sarah works in a coffee shop where she meets an amazingly gorgeous guy. As fate would have it when she goes for an interview to be the make up artist for Tatum Reed she meets the gorgeous guy again who turns out to be Lex a member of Tatum’s band. Three years later Sarah is now Sunshine Sarah and integral member of the entourage. She has been crazy about bad boy Lex all this time, but he has always treated her as a friend, never taking anything further even though he was secretly very attracted to her.
It is so obvious that there is incredible chemistry between these two and why Lex has never made his move on Sarah was a complete mystery. But Lex is covering up a world of hurt from his past that comes back to haunt him when he goes home.
I am so loving Sophie’s writing everything flows so smoothly but keeps you intrigued right from the beginning to the unexpected endings. There is everything in this story love, romance, heartbreak, amazing friendships, a bitchy villain and comedy as the amazing TJ makes an appearance. We get to meet some wonderful new characters including Conor Lex’s brother who is hiding a big secret of his own and get to experience life in a small town in Ireland.
This book has everything you need to make it one of the best rockstar romances I have read. Loved it! Thanks Sophie for providing me with a copy of this wonderful story to review.
“I’ve never felt more at home in someone else’s heart than I do in hers.”
This book is everything! It was funny, sweet, entertaining and I couldn’t loved it more! It was everything I expected it to be and so much more. I couldn’t put it down,I devoured it in a day and I really didn’t want it to end!
After finishing Coffee Girl I was so excited to learn more about Sarah and Lex and they didn’t disappoint. They had me rooting for them and swooning while I watched them fall in love. Their chemistry was off the charts! They were perfect for each other, beyond adorable and so sweet.
It’s rare for me to connect with character like I did with Sarah’s. I love her! She is one of those characters you want as your friend. I was constantly laughing at her inner monologues and her conversations with her best friends,Kiki and TJ, that were hilarious. I loved how grumpy but at the same time kind Lex is. There were moments when I wanted to shake some sense into him but still I could understand him.
This book left me with that warm feeling in my chest and it made me so happy. I’m already impatient to read more from Sophie. Her writing is everything. Her books are funny, sweet, with the right amount of angst and filled with amazing characters.
I loved this book and I loved Sexy Lexy and Sunshine with my whole heart! You can read The Makeup Artists as a standalone but I would recommend reading Coffee Girl first.
Thank you Sophie for an ARC
Happy claps! This sequel was so amazing. OMG- it was hot, funny, sexy, heartbreaking, angsty and I want more from Sophie Sinclair. She is so talented and I slipped into the world she created with ease
OMG! I loved “Coffee Girl” but Sophie knocked it out of the park with “The Makeup Artist.” This is an emotional, funny, enjoyable read. It will keep you engaged from start to finish. Lex and Sarah’s chemistry is off the charts. The lead up to their relationship was a slow burn, they were attracted to each other from the start but did not act on that attraction. Lex is the epitome of a sexy rocker, enjoying all the perks that come with being a musician. Sarah is a beautiful, sassy, strong woman. While on tour in Ireland, the home of the sexy rocker, they take their relationship to the next level and that slow burn ignites. Like all good love stories the road to happy ever after is never straightforward. The twists and turns in the road to Lex and Sarah’s HEA are unexpected and will tug at your heartstrings. Sophie writes such great characters, some you will love, who will have laughing out loud and others you will love to hate. If you are looking for a well written, captivating read, I highly recommend this book.Advanced copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
Sarah and Lex’s journey to their Happily Ever After isn’t easy but I think every twist and turn is worth it. I enjoy the missteps along the way, they make Lex and Sarah love that much more tangible. Their interactions with their friends and Lex’s family, their own self-doubt is something we all have dealt with. I can’t not recommend enough that everyone who loves love should read this book. There is magic in its pages. I can not scream loud enough READ THIS BOOK!! This was a 10/5 Read for me. Lex has permanently found himself a place on my boyfriend bookshelf. A book boyfriend doesn’t have to be perfect, they just need to have a truth and path to love, no matter the hurdles. Lex clears them but not without stumbling but in the end, he makes up for it with his passion for love and sunshine!
I have so many more thoughts on this book! But read my blog at Bookcaseandcoffee.com for my full review!
