Loved it! Such a great story. A must read!
Loved this book. Great characters. Well developed and interesting.
The Magnolia Inn by Carolyn Brown is an excellent read. One of Ms. Brown’s strengths is her characters. They aren’t perfect, they are real. They each have their flaws. Some are feisty, some are quirky but they all seem genuine. As with all of Carolyn Brown’s books I have read, The Magnolia Inn made me laugh as well as brought tears to my eyes. Ms. Brown fills her books with such fun characters, I can’t help but fall in love with them and be transported into their stories. Their stories always seem genuine and not contrived. When I finish one of her books, they leave me feeling good.
This book is an easy ready with interesting characters. Not much drama but a storyline that will keep you turning the pages.
This is a slow burn romance which was quite nice for a change. Jolene Broussard is offered to buy half of The Magnolia Inn from her Aunt Sugar and Uncle Jasper and Tucker Malone takes on the other half. The Inn is in desperate straits and needs a lot of TLC. So do Jolene and Tucker. They are both damaged souls who really are just looking for somewhere to live and work and regroup. While they are renovating the Inn, they are also rehabilitating themselves while slowly falling in love. Oh, and don’t forget the crazy ladies in town, Flossie, Dotty, and Lucy, they are a hoot! This was a pleasure to read and I definitely recommend this one.
Two people who need to come to terms with their past before they can find their futures. As always, Carolyn Brown creates memorable characters who deal with their issues in a relatable way. Thrown together by circumstance, Jolene and Tucker help each other heal and find love in the process.
I loved the quirky characters. Once I started reading I became so engrossed it was hard to put down.
Loved this book
The Magnolia Inn is only the second book I’ve ready by Carolyn Brown. I absolutely love her writing style, but this one was a little on the slow side for me. What drew me to this particular read over all her others was the cover. It is absolutely gorgeous and just popped out at me.
Jolene Broussard was gifted one-half of The Magnolia Inn by her Aunt Sugar and Uncle Jasper which she couldn’t be more excited about. Unfortunately the other half was gifted to her horrible cousin, Ruben, who promptly put his half up for sale not wanting anything to do with the nostalgic Inn.
Enter Tucker Malone. He is looking for a project to keep him busy while his Saturday nights are held for him to drown himself in the bottom of a bottle to forget the pain of his wife’s unexpected death two years prior. The Magnolia Inn was just what he needed, in more ways than one.
Jolene isn’t having it though. She was raised by an alcoholic mother, dated alcoholic men and is done taking care of the likes of people who drink themselves stupid to bury their feelings. I loved how strong this character was. She is full of life and is just what Tucker needed. He spent a lot of time talking to and grieving his dead wife and not seeing what was right in front of him until it was almost too late. She breathed life back into this broken man while doing nothing other than being herself.
While I did like this story, like I said, it was a really slow burn, but I highly recommend.
Another good story by Carolyn Brown. I can trust her stories, so when I need to escape the unpredictability of my life, I can pick up one of her books, really relax, and lose myself in the lives of her well developed characters.
Carolyn Brown writes with emotion and wit. Her characters are wonderful and very real. I loved this story of Jolene and Tucker. They both have been through some rough times. The Magnolia Inn is a way for both of them to work through all of their pain. Jolene is a wonderful character who has learned so much from dealing with her past. She helps Tucker see how he is not helping himself and she makes him want to be a better person. I love Jolene’s Aunt Sugar and all of her friends. These older ladies are constantly sticking their noses in everything and try to help in their own ways. It is a wonderful story and I loved every minute of it.
This is my 3rd book by this author. For whatever reason, I always fall head over into the book. I cannot put her books down and this story did not disappoint. I find her characters original and the books I read were all different and unique. There are some similarities now that I think about it, but it’s pieces that I adore about her writing.
Jolene has a new light in her life, she feels like this could be good for her. Her siblings left her a property that may help her to Start a new journey. She is ready to build her own future, far from the person who hurt her the most..
Tucker is running away from his past, his memories consumed him and make him feel less alive, he doesn’t know how to live without her, he misses her and loved her so much, that life without her is not the same. Tucker just wants to forget but life keeps showing him that is about time to change..
The magnolia inn is a place where Tucker and Jolene found healing and a new journey to start.. they both needed each other to finally get rid of all these memories that keep coming back not letting them live and move on..
Jolene and Tucker didn’t know they will soon find more than just a business and a place to heal.
This is my first book by Carolyn Brown, the story was good, the characters were good, it is a slow burn read and very enjoyable
I just finished The Magnolia Inn and what an awesome read it was! You can start over after the loss of your “forever” mate. You can change the position you have put yourself into. You can create a new life for yourself after a hurtful upbringing! So many times I’ve heard people blaming their past or the loss of a loved one for their problems. This book just touched my heart in a special way and I would love for others to see that you can change and bring happiness into your life once again. Thank you Caroline for a great book!
My first book by Carolyn Brown, recommended by Ashley Farley on Facebook…I’m one of her advanced readers and a big fan of her books
A story of love, family, grief and friendship….
Inheriting half an inn from her Aunt…Jolene is happy until she finds out that her Uncle’s nephew inherits the other half…he was a jerk when they were kids…but sometimes things happen for the best and the nephew puts his half on the inn up for sale…
Jolene has spent the last 10 years working as a bartender and has little money saved…what is she going to do to get the inn up and running..
In walks her new partner Tucker…a carpenter by trade. But he has baggage…pining away for his dead wife…he works hard during the week but come Saturday he drinks himself into oblivion…
Jolene also has baggage and she cannot tolerate drunkenness…too many bad memories of her mother and ex boyfriend…
Will Tucker and Jolene find peace? Will they put their demons to rest? Is there love for them?
You will have to pick up the book to find out!
Highly recommend
This book would make a good Hallmark Channel movie!
A charming must-read romance. The unique cast of characters kept me laughing and crying. My first Carolyn Brown novel. Definitely won’t be my last.
My 1st read from Carolyn Brown and I found it very enjoyable…well written with very good character development and world building! I listened to this story on audiobook and liked the voice of the narrator!! Look forward to reading/listen to more from this author!
I Love all the characters in this book. I love old inns and wish this one wasn’t fictional. I would visit in a heartbeat. I enjoyed this book!!
I love reading about resorts, inns, bed and breakfasts, and their restorations and this story was just as sweet as the Aunt Sugar who gifts her beloved Magnolia Inn to her niece. Though somewhat predictable, this light read charmed its way into my heart. The characters were lovely, and the storyline well paced and inspiring, as themes of friendship, grief and romance filled the pages.
