This is a stand-alone novel, but if you want to journey back to Narnia, read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the second book in The Chronicles of Narnia.

You can’t beat C.S. Lewis. I came to most of the Chronicles of Narnia as an adult. I still go back to them with some regularity. There are depths and subthemes that you only catch on several re-readings. Besides that, he is a master with words.
This is honestly a wonderful way to start a series i already love. The whole while reading this book i had to stop myself from skipping to the back pages because i really wanted wanted to know how it connected to the books in the series, and let me tell you this it did not disappoint.
If you were a dreamy sort of child, as I was, this book would quite possibly be down your alley. I realized, when reading this story, that I hadn’t read any children’s books in quite a while—and I kind of miss that. Especially with well-written ones.
Apparently, this isn’t as good as the sequels to it (or the others in the series…this may have …
C.S Lewis’s book “The magician’s nephew” is a wonderful book full of magic. This book could not let me go until it was finished. Can’t wait to finish “The lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
If you ever wanted to know how Narnia began, here’s your opportunity. This is prequel to The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe -which should be mandatory reading for any child, big or small. C. S. Lewis captures the imagination and never lets up until the last page. You wish the story would continue and lucky for you-it does!
I found a very tattered paperback version of this book in one of our town’s Little Library boxes. It’s been sitting around in my TBR book pile for probably 2 years. I decided “what the heck”. I never read the Chronicles series as a kid, but as an adult I did watch the Lion, Witch, Wardrobe movie (loved it). So, thinking the book would be boring …
I read this aloud to our 14-year-old son because now we have time because he’s with me now because he’s doing school from home because of the way-too-many, and are-you-kidding me? amount of rules going on in the public school (and he’s allergic to hand sanitizer, so yeah, healthier to be at home than “staying safe” at school during the …
I listened to the version that was read by Kenneth Branaugh… such a fantastic voice for this!
I’m listening with new ears now that I’m writing my own chapter readers for the same age group. Action-packed, whimsical, and while the characters are good for the age range, they’re not the central focus. This is the true origin story of Narnia, a …
I was gifted the box set of the Chronicles of Narnia as a boy, perhaps 20-25 years ago now. Presently, I am just over halfway through the box set as I read aloud to my 10/G and 7/B. These books are so wonderful to read with the family, so imaginitive, so pure and full of purpose and goodness. They are some of the best books you will ever find …
The best of the series
I love this series of books.
To truly understand the world of Narnia and its origins, this book truly captures it.
This is one of my all-time favorite books.
I read this first when I was 10 and its still one of my favorite books to re-read
Well, since I love all the Narnia books, no surprise I give this 5 stars. But I recommend looking for the audiobook version read by Kenneth Branagh. He really makes this an awesome story! The Magician’s Nephew was never my favorite of the chronicles, but it is still a great story in the Lewis tradition and Branagh made it even better!
I loved this book. It was wonderful just like the others in the Narnia series. Love C.S. Lewis’ writing of any kind.
Excellent prequel to the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. It answers some questions that the first story didn’t address concerning the White Witch.
The Chronicles of Narnia (The Magician’s Nephew is part of this series) by C.S. Lewis is one of our family’s favorite book series.
This book is one of eight in the Narnia Series by C. S. Lewis. The whole series is amazing. Books that can be read to 8 year olds, but can also be enjoyed by adults. I’ve read through this series probably 10 times throughout my life. You absolutely cannot go wrong with the series, and The Magician’s Nephew is like the prequel…….where it …
One of my favorites since childhood and one of the best of the Narnia series!
