Enter the zany, hilarious world of the Magical Romantic Comedy (with a body count) series with this seven story collection. From a fire-breathing, meat-eating unicorn to a sphinx with a devil problem, what can go wrong will go wrong, nothing is as it seems, and there’s magic around every corner.Warning: these stories contain magic, mayhem, and mythology splashed with humor, romance, and a body … and a body count.
In Playing with Fire, Bailey Gardener doesn’t need Manhattan’s Most Wanted Bachelor breathing down her neck, but when she’s targeted with a cell phone bomb capable of transforming her home into a stone tomb, she’s tossed headfirst into a mess with her sexist enemy. She definitely doesn’t need to fall in love with the smoking hot police chief. Saving Manhattan will be tough enough.
In Hoofin’ It, Shane Gibson’s trip to New York takes an unexpected turn when three corpses and a miniature llama with a spitting problem and an attitude tumbles into his life. Facing off against a sex trafficking ring targeting the woman of his dreams, ancient vampires, murderous criminals, and his parents is only the beginning. Some days, it isn’t easy being an ex-cop.
In Hearth, Home, and Havoc, Dakota had never intended to become the single mother of a goddess, but after her abusive ex storms back into her life, she’ll do anything necessary to protect her family.
Snakes eat fish, and the mer love tearing apart their serpentine nemeses with their hands and teeth. As for the gorgons… Tulip would rather not think about them at all. In Serial Killer Princess, a serial killer of serial killers must come to terms with her unique heritage while dodging the advances of a wily bodyguard with an unhealthy interest in her and her secrets.
Kanika regrets naming her business Whatever for Hire. Fetching a cat out of a tree should’ve been a quick, easy fifty bucks in her pocket. Instead, following one stray thought, the Devil pays her a visit and leaves her with a debt to repay. Owing the Devil a favor is bad enough, but her life is turned upside down when it’s time to pay the piper.
After a wildfire took everything from her, Emily Hall made do surviving as a homeless human by day and as an owl at night. In Owl Be Yours, when one of the men responsible for infecting her with lycanthropy comes winging his way back into her life, she must choose between revenge or resuming a normal life. Until Daniel’s return, she never dreamed she might be able to have both.
In Fowl Play, the last thing Emma Sansaul needs is to become the next victim of a crazed serial killer. Left with no other choice, she joins forces with Agent Kenneth Bernard, the one man on Earth capable of making her hissing mad one second and in need of a cold shower the next.
This collection contains over 500,000 words (1,800+ pages) of magic, mayhem, and hilarity.

A collection of supernatural romance novels with a strong does of humor. There are good character and bade ones, but the novels are not horror stories. These are light-hearted, fun to read stories written with skill. Highly recommended even if romance or supernatural themes are not your usual fare.
I haven’t finished all the stories in the set yet. But, totally, love her story called “Hoofin’ It”. That story’s characters are fabulous. The story line is great. Hope this author will write another with these characters. Enjoyed the book from start to finish. I’ve read it twice then read it out loud to my sister. She loved it too. I actually bought it individually then got it in a bundle package. If this author doesn’t write another book she still would make money on just this book alone. It’s that great. I don’t know how this author thought up this story or characters but she sure did thought up a winning story.
Loved it,…looked for more by the same writer!
I picked up the first one because the tag line said “a romantic comedy with a body count:, so I had to try it. Best pick ever! I love these books, they were all good and the author did a great job of fleshing everything out world wise without needing 3 books to set the scene like some authors. Plus, a cindercorn on a napalm bender, too funny.
Love love love!!! The only thing that could make these books better would be getting the POV of both characters instead of just one. But I ADORE these books! They’re absolutely hilarious and I can’t get enough. I super-duper love Satin and Kanika, nonstop hijinks hilarity, but Bailey (especially unicorn Bailey) is also amazing, and Shane’s dynamic with everyone around him had me rolling. Honestly you just cannot go wrong with any of the Magical Romantic Comedy (with a Body Count) series!
LOVE this author. She has a zany sense of humor and creates a great list of characters.
I am on the next to last book in the set. I have THOROUGHLY enjoyed all of the books. I will re-read this set in a year or so. Will look at more of her books when I am finished.
Love all her books.
Laugh out loud funny. So much fun! Lots of action and adventure.
Fun and fast paced. A great read
This collection of starter books is great! The stories, while all with similar plot elements, have a menagerie of different characters that keeps each book feeling fresh. The FLs are always funny and witty with dirty mouths and minds. Definitely worth the buy.
I love all of her books
Loved it…laugh out loud amusing.
This book gives you such a good feel for RJ Blain’s writing. They are mesmerizing.
Loved all the stories in this collection.
Too funny and very worth the read!
This starter pack made my soul jump in my chest. In particular, the Whatever For Hire book was amazing and Satin made me laugh
OMG, these books were so funny! If you love smart mouths, screwball comedies, action comedies then this bundle is for you! I can’t wait to read more by R.J. Blain!
Different to the usual magical stories
I loved this series. It was action packed and fast paced but you still got to know the characters.
I got a little confused sometimes with the authors version of the world (what creatures are the norm and who knows about what) but didn’t distract from the stories in any way.
Could have done with a bit longer once any characters get together about seemed to end but some do have follow on stories so you can continue their stories.
I want to take you out for coffee (even thought I don’t drink coffee) just to “pick your brain”…… your ideas, characters and character plots are so far “over the top” and out of this world! They are GREAT!!!! And, although fantastical, utterly believable! What it must be like to live in your head!!!!! The snarky and sarcasm is so funny that I laugh out loud which an author has not made me do in a very long time! (I had to stop reading her books out in public because of the funny and nasty looks I get while reading and laughing!!!) These stories are so original and FUN!! I HIGHLY recommend all of her books!
