“You are the best thing I never knew I needed.” It wasn’t the worst day of my life when I met West Murrtham, but it certainly wasn’t one of my finer moments. I wasn’t what he needed in a woman: a hot mess and married. With a kid. As the life I knew crumbled around me, I was lucky for his friendship. I got to know him better, and I wanted more. Too bad he wasn’t into kids. I’ve never been the … kids.
I’ve never been the relationship kind of guy, but had I met Nellie Sturges earlier in life, that may not have been the case. Life threw us together when she was unavailable. Or so I originally thought.
When she found a way out of her abysmal marriage, I was already infatuated with her, under her spell. She and her daughter were a package deal.
With my heart on board, could I get my head past the fear of being a parent and be the man they both needed?

Nellie and Wes’s story is one of growth. The characters are well developed and engaging and the connection is strong making for a smooth flowing storyline. This is a worthy read so you definitely don’t want to miss it.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book was raw, jumbled, heartbreakingly angsty, annoyingly “WTF are you doing?????” at times, and so very real. Nellie is already on the downside of her marriage when she meets West at one of her worst moments. Wear, the man who doesn’t like or want kids. The man who actually seems to be afraid of kids. And yet they manage to strike up a friendship that endures through Nellie’s rough times and becomes more. Until, of course, a slip of the tongue and panic ruin everything. Then come the 56 days. Are they enough? Can they be?
I loved the honesty in this story and the feelings of “wait, what are you thinking? Are you sane?” at times. I didn’t want to put this one down because I had to know who made the first move, who made the first mistake, and who wanted the future the most. And as usual, this author didn’t disappoint.
This book is a little different from most books I’ve read. The h is in an unhappy, miserable marriage when she meets the H….and no, there’s no cheating. It was interesting watch these characters navigate the ups and downs of life. Nellie is a speak what’s on your mind person and I love her for it. West has his own issues to work through but the author takes us on what feels like a real life journey as these 2 find their HEA.
This is the first book I have read by Taylor DeLong. I truly loved West with his “I don’t do kids” mentality. It was funny the way Nellie thrust her daughter into West’s hands. I could picture the look on his face had have been priceless. Nellie, has a different personality. It was cool that they both are baseball fans. Nellie is married to a real jerk who seems to want nothing to do with his own daughter and that is sad. Nellie is the type of person who tells it like it is and sometimes she gets mad at her self. Nellie feels that she is a mess but, she set eyes on a handsome West but, he doesn’t do kids. Then Nellie and West manage to start up a friendship that endures through Nellie’s rough times and it starts to become more but, Nellie says something and panics which ruins things. What happens between Nellie and West? Do they get back together? You really need to read this book to find out!! I truly loved this book. Awesome book!!
Often it seems like the same storyline over and over. Not this one. It was a fresh take on things. I promise there’s no cheating. I don’t do cheating books. The heroine is working on a divorce early on in the book so she has to be friends with Hero. Wait, there’s more. Throw in a being a new mom. It still manages to be low angst which I appreciate. Yes, one of it’s main settings is a tree farm, but it’s definitely not a Christmas book. I’m ready for the next one.
This book started out differently from other stories I’ve read where the heroine is already married but miserable & her marriage was crumbling. She met West when she went to his family’s tree farm (there was absolutely no cheating in this book) & they became friends. Both characters had different things to work through, for Nellie she had to learn how to be a single mom after her marriage ended & West wasn’t interested in dating anyone with a child. I loved watching how each worked through all of their issues. Not only did I enjoy their story but I also loved reading about that tree farm as well, it’s a place I wish I could go visit.
Taylor Delong never disappoints!
Without being a romcom, Taylor manages to pack a lot of humor in West and Nellie’s story while also staying true to her brand of emotional and “all the feels” reads. As I read, I couldn’t help but fall in love with all the characters and can’t wait to read more in the series.
I wish Murrtham’s Tree Farm was a real place so I could experience the “magic” for myself!
I have read books by this author before and I always enjoy her story lines and how she writes. This book is a beautiful romance book and seeing where the story will end up will hold your attention. This book is a beautiful romance book and I recommend that everyone reads it.
West runs and owns the farm with his siblings that he grew up on and Murrthams Tree Farm is a great relaxing place to be. West doesn’t want children and he is happy with his life how it is.
Janelle ‘Nellie’ is a woman that at this moment has had enough she hates her horrible husband who is an all round d*** and a terrible father and she just feels like she is a mess. She is a mother to her daughter Gaby and just wants to do her best. Nellie is not afraid to be herself and just says things how they are and she can be quite impulsive with her decisions.
After West and Nellie met at the farm one day Nellie feels like she is a mess and she is in a terrible state and this is when West sees her at her most vulnerable. They then don’t see each other until months later when they start to become very close to each other but Nellie is scared of being hurt and holds back a tad.
This book is very relatable and the characters are very easy to connect to. I loved both West and Nellie and how they were together and I feel like they were really meant to be. They go through a lot of ups and downs before they really start to become close and even though West didn’t ever want to have children he is amazing with Gaby and that is beautiful.
The journey that they both go in is a real page turner and you wont be able to put this book down. This book will have your heart in your mouth and your will be really rooting for them both to find there happily ever afters.
Thank you to the author for allowing me to read an early copy of this book. ARC provided in exchange for a complimentary honest voluntary review. This author is a great writer and I recommend that everyone sees where West and Nellie end up.
Where shall I begin!
I received an ARC of this book and the title speaks for itself! I believe in the good kind of magic and this book gave me something more to look forward to.
The opening scene to the book let me know that I was in for one heck of a ride!
Nellie (one of my fave names btw) makes me laugh, cry, cuss, and pray for the best where she is concerned. She feels like she is a train wreck and anyone that gets involved with her will run for the hills! She is the total opposite! She is actually a force to be reckoned with.
Her marriage life is going downhill plus she set eyes on a handsome hunk of a man that doesn’t do kids. So, what’s a girl to do with such a huge dilemma? Make new friends, divorce the sperm donor she calls a husband, and hope and pray for the best outcome when life seems to be spiraling out of control.
Wes is seriously one of the hottest single guys around. So one can only imagine why is he still single. Him and Nellie meet not once but twice unto which she is not a total damsel in distress but she is in need of a bit of saving. Wes sees her for more than that even thought she doesn’t.
He helps her along the way to recognize and learn to love the woman she is. His struck no kids policy starts to slow wear off the more time he spends being Nellies friend.
Throw in some helpful family and friends that are there to support you on this journey called life, cheering on new friendships that could turn into more and you’ve got yourself some magical happenings taking place and all around Christmas time! The most magical time of all.
West and Nellies story had me crying tears of Joy, my heart broke for Nellie on more than one occasion, and Wes along with his sister have me some many laughs to make up for the tears.
To say I enjoyed this book is an understatement! I absolutely LOVED it and can not WAIT to read more!
Do yourself a favor and hop on this new series!
