Holiday parties and gift-buying will have to wait this year. Rowan West is up for a promotion to advertising manager. All she has to do is come up with a campaign to stream people back into a struggling, Christmas-themed adventure park and resort. She’s more of a big city-bright lights girl, but hey, anything to hop up to the next rung on the ladder. And in this case, anything is right. Because … Because she’s stuck with a horrible partner as she treks out to see the park for herself.
Jeremy Kincannon doesn’t so much love his job. But he’s doing his best to excel at it. He has to, in order to shut down the, oh, entire rest of the company that believes he’s only there because his step-father owns the business. So when he finds out he’s a finalist for the advertising manager position, he’s ready to fight tooth and nail to get it. Even if it means spending a week with the annoyingly perfect—and even more annoyingly pretty—other finalist.
They begin the trip as office adversaries. But spending so much time together, away from rivalries and rumors, reveals the truth of who each really is. Or maybe it’s the magic of Christmas working on them? Because the adventure park neither cared about turns out to be exactly what helps them find what they truly need in life…each other.

This story follows Rowan and Jeremy. They work together and are both up for a promotion for Advertising Manager. Their task – to get people to start coming back to a Christmas themed park/resort. Rowan wants to climb ladder. Jeremy wants to show the people at the company that he can do this because they all think he is only there because his stepfather owns the business. Something else happens while they are there. They start to fall for each other. I love a good enemies to lovers story.
The Magic of Christmas by Christi Barth is a fun, entertaining read with a little bit of Christmas sparkle thrown in for good measure. This is the perfect type of book to lose yourself in for an afternoon. It is a quick and easy story to read but one that captures your attention and keeps moving forward nicely.
I liked the pace of the book and how the author developed the characters. Rowan is one of those characters that I really didn’t take to immediately however by the end of the book I got the impression that you weren’t meant to. You got to see her develop throughout the book and grow to like her in a way that doesn’t happen very often. She was well suited to be with Jeremy and by the end I really liked them both together.
This was on overall enjoyable book with great characters. It is definitely worth adding to you TBR pile.
This is a cute holiday story. We follow along with the two MC as they vie for a advertising campaign. The place is a holiday amusement park and resort. They have many ups and downs and delight in finding their true selves.
I was easily sucked into this story as well as the characters. I love Christmas Funtime stories and this is one. All the crazy festive ideas that get brought to life by the author are magical themselves. Then drop in uptight characters and make them do out of their zone stuff makes this an easy win in my mind.
The Magic of Christmas by Christi Barth a magical five-star read. Rowan West is a determined woman, she wants that promotion, and it’s the only thing on her Christmas list to Santa, after all Jeremy doesn’t deserve the promotion does, he? Will the winter wonderland reveal the truth, or will they go off the deep end instead of the zip line? Will the Christmas magic work its wonder, will Jeremys true side be revealed? Will they save the wonderland? This is such a sweet story and perfect for this time of year. Bring the warmth and great writing to your life and pick this up, I adore this author and was happy to be whisked away to Christmas already!!
Christmas romance stories are, for me, the equivalent of a big bucket of ice cream and saft movie on a shitty day. I adore them. It’s like donning a cosy blanket on a rainy day and huddling into a hot chocolate, the type with the tiny marshmallows. As such I literally could not pass up the opportunity to read something entitled the Magic of Christmas. I can happily say that it did not disappoint.
Rowan and Jeremy are work colleagues who, due to various reasons, do not and have never gotten along. She thinks he is a nepotistic knob, whose DNA is his divine link to landing the promotion that she has worked so hard to be considered for. All that stands between them and this dream job is visiting this quirky little holiday place that does Christmas better than Santa and pitch their businessy plan for numbers and such. I’ll admit that I did sort of tune out the business chatter, wanting to get to the snow and reindeer part of the book, so I honestly couldn’t tell you what the company they worked for actually did, or you know what they were doing at the retreat place. But yeah, due to these work-related plot points, they are sent to this Christmas thing together and stuff happens. Don’t want to give anything away.
I love the banter between the two. This is how enemies to lovers should be written. They’re interactions are full of scathing remarks and sarcasm to make Ricky Gervais blush. I loved it and it felt refreshing to read an author that actually got this type of banter spot on, just enough to be entertaining, not too much that it became quip central during rush hour. Christi did an awesome job with this one and was so happy that she kept the warm fluffiness of Christmas all the way through. Would recommend anyone reading this and know that I’m definitely going to read more of Christi’s stuff in the future.
The Magic of Christmas should be a Hallmark Movie. This novel is not only magic but will put you in the Christmas spirit while reading. Who wouldn’t want to visit a Christmas themed resort around the holiday’s and have some fun. Christi Barth is a fantastic author whos writing style will draw you in and keep you reading until the very end. I loved the novel and in my opinion, it should be made into a Hallmark Movie.
The Magic of Christmas by Christi Barth is an enchanting enemy to lover’s romance tale. It is a slow burn, sweet and fun read with witty banter. I enjoyed Christi’s writing style and the setting of the story. Two people after the same promotion, one a workaholic and the other the son of the owner. It is a vivid world Christi has outlined for us and it makes you feel that you are right there with the magic of Christmas. It is a simplistic and easy story for a quiet afternoon read.
This is a lovely story. I didn’t expect Rowan and Jeremy to act like this. I like how quick paced the book is without making it feel rushed. I like how the story progressed. Jeremy and Rowan have always been in competition but don’t want to give in to each other. Then they end up bonding and finding each other company.
Book Review: The Magic of Christmas
Author: Christi Barth
FIVE STARS
Very cute Christmas story. Co-workers and rivals are sent on a job to create a campaign to save an amusement park. The winner of the campaign will become a new account manager.
Who will make the best impression on the head of the company? Rowan or Jeremy? Will they finally make amends and become friends, or more? Will going to this Christmas land amusement park make them come to terms with the secrets and feeling they have been hiding concerning their jobs and their own personal lives?
This book is really good. Quick read and will keep you engaged.

I loved this enemies to lovers Christmas story. It was fun to read how Rowan (the control freak) and Jeremy (the laid back fun one) overcame there differences while fighting for the same promotion. They must spend a week together at a Christmas themed adventure park and then each come up with a new marketing plan to promote the struggling park. Will they find love? Who will get the promotion?
I loved the detail the author went into to describe Holiday Land Adventure park, She makes me wish that it was a actual place to visit because I would love to take my family. This book read so much like a Hallmark movie, it would be so fun to watch. I received a ARC from the publisher, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Magic of Christmas

5 out of 5 stars
I loved reading the book The Magic of Christmas by Christi Barth. It is a holiday romance story that is wonderful to read. I loved the characters of Rowan West and Jeremy Kincannon. They are both up for the same promotion. Sent to a Christmas-themed park to help with their advertising. What does the future hold for Rowan and Jeremy? Read this book to find out. Rowan is a woman who is driven to succeed in her job. Sometimes this includes shutting out of everything else. Will she have the courage to have some fun? Jeremy is handsome, charming, and kind. What will happen when his feelings for Rowan start to change? I grew to care about Rowan and Jeremy with each chapter that I read. I enjoyed the bantering back and forth between them. This is a perfect holiday story that you won’t want to put down until the final page. I also enjoyed the additional characters that are introduced and interact with Jeremy and Rowan. Don’t miss out on reading this story. I highly recommend it.
I enjoyed this Christmas romance story. This is a warm, sweet story that will bring Christmas spirit to your soul. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites. The characters are well developed and connectable. They make the story easy to read and engaging. Rowan is up for a promotion and her next assignment is bring people into a Christmas themed park. Her problem becomes when she has to work with a partner that she doesn’t like. Will she save the park? Will she find more than just a promotion in this assignment? I loved watching the growth with the characters. They made such a great, believable story that was entertaining. I highly recommend this book.
The Magic of Christmas caught the festively magical feel of Santa’s Village quite easily as we venture forth to a Christmas themed resort and amusement park with two people in competition for the same management job… no one is expecting what happens to Rowen and Jeremy on this trip, especially themselves.
Most of what you’d want to know before picking this one up can be found in the cover description blurb. That doesn’t tell you though about the tensions between Rowen and Jeremy from the start of their story. Rowen feels that Jeremy only got his job because he’s the boss’s stepson… and nothing could be further from the truth, but Rowen won’t believe that she could be wrong.
Jeremy could be attracted to Rowen and might have asked her out years ago if she weren’t so… judgemental and regulated in attitude, appearance, and interactions. This trip is one way to perhaps find a way to work together, even loosen up a bit and enjoy the amusement park that they need to come up with plans for. Neither is prepared for the surprises ahead of them nor the choices they’ll have to make.
While I loved The Magic of Christmas and Jeremy… not so much Rowen. At all. We are given reasons in her past for her attitude today, and perhaps they are good ones but at that point, I had simply been enjoying Jeremy’s part of this story and didn’t really care one way or the other about Rowen’s future. Jeremy loved her, and that was good enough for me.
I was caught up in the details of the resort and the amusement park totally and completely dedicated to the magic of Christmas. This world came alive through vivid word pictures that easily put me right in the middle of all the action, excitement, and love.
If you love a good Christmas Romance, then The Magic of Christmas should be on your TBR list.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from Tule Publishing. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
A heart warming Christmas romances that will for sure put you in the Christmas mood. Rowan and Jeremy are both up for job promotion and are office enemies. They are both sent to a struggling Christmas themed amusement park to come up with a new add campaign. While there they soon find out that they more in common than they thought.
I want to go to this amusement park, I love everything Christmas!! Loved the banter between Jeremy and Rowan. I proves you just don’t know everything on the inside, until you really get to know the person. This is a slow burn sweet romance, that I highly recommend.
I received this book from Tule Publishing Company in exchange for an honest review. I found this book to be a very heartwarming and sweet romance. This is the story of Rowan and Jeremy who both work for a marketing company in Chicago. Jeremy is the stepson of the owner and Rowan has also worked there for a couple of years. The owner has named the two of them in competition for a promotion. He is sending them to a Christmas themed resort/amusement park that has been struggling since the new owner took over. Each of them is to come up with their plan for saving the resort and amusement park or telling the owners to cut their losses.
Rowan believes that Jeremy got the job due to nepotism when in fact he has worked extra hard to show everyone that there is no favoritism being played for him. As a result, Rowan is very bitter towards Jeremy and avoids dealing with him. He on the other hand, likes Rowan and wishes that she would reciprocate the feelings and let her hair down around him. After some travel difficulties Jeremy and Rowan arrive at the Christmas resort and meet the owner and some of the staff. They decide to make a truce and then try to have fun together while assessing what needs to be done. They are treated as VIPs and try out all the various aspects of the amusement park. They are treated to seasonal beverages and food.
The author does a tremendous job describing the various ride and activities that they see in the amusement park and the decor in the resort for the holidays. She also paints a vivid picture of the clothing that the owner and the staff wear. Rowan always acts and dresses very professionally whereas Jeremy opts to be more casual, After some urging Jeremy gets her to loosen up a little. Just when it looks like Jeremy is going to kiss Rowan, his best friend shows up unexpectedly. His friend has come to try to convince him to take a job with his marketing company that has a different client focus. Jeremy feels a sense of loyalty to his stepdad and has declined the job offer several times.
Jeremy and Rowan bond over the activities they are participating in and start to open up about their personal lives. Rowan overhears Jeremy and his friend talking about the job and Jeremy admits to her that he really would like to take the job and then that would free up the Promotion for Rowan. She shares with Jeremy the reason why she is so hesitant to trust others. She also lets him know that she wants to earn the promotion not have it given to her by default. The reader learns about the plan each character has for the resort. Things between the two become a lot more friendly and they enjoy each other’s company. Each realizes that they are falling for the other person. The author adds some suspense and angst to the story surrounding each characters future plans as well as each other.
I give this book 5 stars for the wonderful and romantic story, the delightful characters, as well as the angst going on throughout the book. I also want to add that I felt a strong connection to the book because my hometown is also Evanston Illinois. I still live in the northern suburbs of the Chicago area. Waterfall and This sweet whimsical romance would make a perfect Hallmark movie. I look forward to reading more books by Christie Barth in the future.
This is a fun book and a great start to the Christmas themed books that always come out this year While this is all set at a Christmas themed resort that is struggling to survive it isn’t so over the top Christmas orientated it is in fact just a wonderful enemies to lovers romance
Rowna West can taste the promotion she just has to come up with a campaign that knocks everyone’s socks off and get people back into the resort The main problem is that her main competition is Jeremy Kincannon and he will fight tooth and nail to succeed. Jeremy doesn’t even want the promotion but he is fed up with people judging him and thinking he as only moved up the company because his step father owns it while the truth is that he has worked hard and clawed his way up like everyone else Now he has to compete against a woman that intrigues him but who never seems to have any fun Can he get her to relax and enjoy life You will have to read to see
The perfect holiday romance. Slow building. Funny. Tender. Very realistic.
What starts out as an enemies-at-work typical trope turns out to be a not-so-typical love story. Where does the magic happen? It might be sprinkled in the snow, or in cookies, the hot cocoa, the rides, the singing or something else. It might be the other characters that drive the story of Jeremy and Rowan. How mistrust of others and mislaid priorities are brought to light… Christmas lights that is.
To find the answers, you will have to read it to discover the magic for yourself!
I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher and am voluntarily leaving my review.
The Magic of Christmas by Christi Barth is a competitor to lover story. I really wouldn’t call it an enemy to lover story because Rowan West and Jeremy Kincannon are promotion rivals not what I consider true enemies even though she does have a tendency to talk down to him. Sure they seem like opposites in nature but as the story progresses they find out that they have made false impressions of each other. Perhaps there is much more at stake then a work promotion.
As far as personalities go Jeremy’s is easier to like. Rowan is trying to make it in a competitive field which can be hard for women but she had a snooty air about her that was hard to like in the beginning. When on the defensive it would show itself again. Jeremy didn’t deserve that but it did feel natural and realistic. The story itself flows and is bogs down. The romance is sweet with competitiveness coming into play to put a halt on it several times.
The name is a perfect fit because at the Christmas theme park away from the everyday work environment magic does happen in this book. Reading The Magic of Christmas will put a little magic in your day.
An ARC of the book was given to me by Tule Publishing which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Magic of Christmas by Christi Barth is one of those books that actually reads like it is already a movie. As I read it I could easily picture it as a made for tv movie and my husband was laughing at me as I read parts out loud. He said it reminded him that so many of us needed to take a family vacation as soon as this virus is over. Rowan and Jeremy are both up for a promotion at work, the same promotion. Rowan thinks that Jeremy only has his job because of who his mom is married to a.nd she has been nothing but rude to him from day one. Not that he sees her that way, OH NO but he has earned his position and Jeremy set out to show Rowan exactly why he is where he is with the company. As I was reading The Magic of Christmas, I was wishing there was a place close to DFW I could visit that could give our family the experience that this book was showcasing. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more books from Ms Barth
