“A powerful opener to a series [that] will produce a combination of feisty protagonists and challenging circumstances to thoroughly involve not just young adults, but adult fantasy fans who seek epic stories fueled by powerful friendships and adversaries.”–Midwest Book Review (Diane Donovan) (re A Throne for Sisters)“Morgan Rice’s imagination is limitless!”–Books and Movie Reviews (re A Throne … Reviews (re A Throne for Sisters)
From USA Today and #1 bestselling fantasy author Morgan Rice comes a new fantasy series for teens and adults.
THE MAGIC FACTORY: OLIVER BLUE AND THE SCHOOL FOR SEERS (BOOK ONE) tells the story of one very special boy, Oliver Blue, different than those around him and unloved by his hateful family. Obsessed with inventions, Oliver is determined to escape his horrible life and make his mark on the world.
When Oliver’s family moves again, to another awful house and school, he is bullied and excluded, and sees no way out. But when he stumbles across an abandoned invention factory, he wonders if this could be his way out. Who is the mysterious old inventor hiding in the factory? What is his secret invention?
And might this factory be a portal to somewhere else?
An inspiring fantasy, THE MAGIC FACTORY is book #1 in a riveting new series filled with magic, love, humor, heartbreak, tragedy, destiny, and a series of shocking twists. It will make you fall in love with Oliver Blue, and keep you turning pages late into the night.
Book #2 in the series (THE ORB OF KANDRA) and Book #3 (THE OBSIDIANS) are now also available!
“The beginnings of something remarkable are there.”

I love this author’s work so was delighted to be given a copy of this new series – here is my review.
Oliver Blue hates his life; uncaring parents, a bully of a big brother and yet another new school… But there is something special about him; not least being very clever (and so much more).
This new series is for anyone who enjoys adventure, magic, good v evil, heroes and villains and fantasy. It will certainly entice Harry Potter fans, though it is different in many ways – no spoilers.
Well-written, fast-paced with a great sense of place, this tale has great characters and storytelling.
Highly recommended.
This book series is wonderful and reminds me a little of the Artemis Fowl series, but also of the Percy Jackson books. It would make a wonderful movie.
I loved it! Well done Miss Morgan Rice
it ggggoooooodddddd
ok, i guess. did not finish book. it just did not captivate me and life is too short to read books tha t don’e grB ME
this is a nice book for tweens and teenagers, i really recommend it. it makes you go on an adventure in your mind, and i enjoyed it…
i still do!
Great book for 7-14 year olds. Clean, honorable good guys. Typical bullies for bad guys.
The story has many parallels to the Harry Potter books but takes the story in a different direction. I had a little trouble accepting that an 11 year old was doing some of the things going on in the story but it was still an enjoyable read.
Of all the Morgan Rice books I’ve read, The Magic Factory is my least favorite. The main character, Oliver Blue, an eleven-year-old nerd is bullied at home and school. Until one day he meets one of his heroes, inventor Armando, and goes to live in the factory. Oliver travels in time back to 1944 where he enrolls in the School of Seers, and this is where the book fell apart for me. Up until this point, Oliver has been a typical preteen, a genius but a preteen, but after he arrives at the school, Oliver’s character thinks and behaves like a much older teenager. This disconnect from child-like thinking to mature decision-making just did not work. And the plot just gotmore and more fantastic until Oliver is disarming a bomb Hitler will detonate to destroy the world (while, by the way, the bomb is only fifteen feet away)! The book just was not cohesive or well plotted.
Loved this book, the time-travel concept, and the ties into history. I look forward to reading the next book.
Very slow to develop. First book in a series.
This really should be listed as a YA title. Not a bad book, just totally predictable.
A gripping read by a multitallented author (fantasy)
Good
Just to off the wall for me, it’s here, it’s there, it’s someplace else. I think it’s a poor copy cat of Harry Potter books.
Just finished. Didn’t think I would like it but after a chapter was hooked. Fascinating.
An interesting book that is bit hard at the start but delivers a great ending!
As usual it takes you places you never thought of.
I tried this book because I saw reviewers reference Harry Potter. It is nothing like those wonderful books. Most of the characters are two dimensional. The protagonist isn’t even particularly likable – you just feel sorry for him because his family is awful. I gave up about 25% of the way in. The writing is uninspired. Don’t waste your time or money.
Great story, felt like it followed Harry Potter to much though. Good, clean fun for a middle schooler.
