Alessio… plaything.
Ayla…
I thought Alessio was only one more man who wanted to use me, hurt me, and throw me away. I don’t know what it is to trust anymore. I can’t find my heart under the pain.
Alessio found it. He touched it, and brought it alive again.
But if he discovers just how dangerous I am to him…I’ll lose my life.

This is the first book by this author and I don’t think it’ll be my last. It was good, it had my attention, that’s for sure. There were parts I struggled with, a little bit of repetitiveness with the dialogue between these characters, but it did not take away the fact that this book was a great read. It was dark, gritty, consuming, pretty hot in some scenes. everything I look for in a Mafia read. It held my attention for the most part and the author’s style of writing was great. it did flow easily and she had me intrigued wanting to know what happens with the Alessio and Ayla, the two main characters.
Alya was strong, and I love that in a female lead, having grown up as the mafia bosses daughter, things were expected of her, things she couldn’t live up to, and things she didn’t want to. Her fiance was no better. She was struggling and left him., literally jumping out of a window in the middle of the night right at the beginning of the book, after having enough of having to deal with being told what she should or shouldn’t do and having to live up to a standard that she couldn’t and didn’t want to, she ran. Her father and her fiance were not nice men, they were dangerous and not men you would want to mess around with.
Alessio, A man who was feared, who was stronger and more dangerous than her father and her fiance felt sorry for her. Pitying her in the beginning but as the story unfolds, the reason behind him being the nasty man he was, was made apparent, the things he had seen and experience at a young age had shaped him into the man he was today. As the story progresses the pity he thought he felt for her changes into something else.
There is so much going on in this book, it was enough to have my head spinning, but in a good way. Lies, betrayal, hate, violence, and love play massive parts and just as I think I have these characters figured out, the author throws me off with things I did not see coming. Not everything is as it should be, or as it seems and as I got deeper into the book, the more curve balls were thrown my way. It was intense, to say the least, and I enjoyed it enough to want to read the rest of the books in the series!
4 and a half stars!
I really liked this book though it does follow a pretty standard mob romance format. It does have quite a bit of originality within the story though and I like the romance between Alessio and Ayla. It happens pretty slow which it would have to since she ran away from a terribly abusive relationship and ended up sneaking into Alessio’s car which was then driven onto his guarded property where she was caught by him. So she gave a fake name and ended up as a maid.
However, Alessio knows she was abused due to her bruises and nightmares but the attraction between the two grows. What he doesn’t know is that she is the daughter and Fiancé of the rival Italian Mafia while he is the head of the Bratva and her father murdered his Mother. Alessio has sworn to kill everyone in her family.
This book was my introduction to the dark romances. It completely blew my mind and I found my new addiction!
This book had it all, mafia rivalries, forbidden love, painful past, suspense, romance and so much more.
Ayla Abandonato is a captive of her fiance, a member of Italian mafia and she has been tortured by his hands. Her father turned his back on her, paying no attention to her pain. When she finally gets a chance to escape, she takes it immediately. She hides in the car of a strange man.
But she later realises what a terrible mistake she has made. The guy is none other than her fiance and her family’s biggest enemy, Alessio Ivanshov, pakhan of Russian mafia. But instead of throwing her out, Alessio, unaware of her real identity, lets her stay in his house as his maid.
From there starts this epic tale.
Alessio was the perfect alpha. He is cold, calculating and ruthless. Moreover he is harboring a deep seated pain about his broken past which makes him absolutely closed off. But slowly and surely Ayla is barging in and breaking down his walls piece by piece.
I was in awe of this book. The side characters complimented the story so beautifully.
All you mafia romance lovers out there, pick it up right now! You wont regret it.
This was a great first book to this series! I really enjoyed it. It was written really well. There are a few triggers so beware. I feel like the relationship between Ayla and Alessio was a little too slow but I understand the reason why it was written that way. I’m very excited to see where this series takes me.
I don’t know how I haven’t reviewed this before but omg. This is the book that started my obsession with this author. I loved it. I loved how it had the unique ability to consume me from the very first page. It’s a unique mafia story. One you wouldn’t expect. It’s like Romeo and Juliet 2.0 but soooo much better. There are twice as many twists, so much anger & so much sexual tension. It’s a beautiful love story in such an unsuspecting setting and it’s driven my obsession to crazy levels.
this book is an amazing start to the mafia series which bridges the gap between the Russian bratva and the Italian mob in this dark read. the torture and sorrow within the pages of this book kept me gripped and I couldn’t put it down, reading in to the early hours of the night. a must read series and it only gets better, Lylah james is an amazing author
This book will take you on a roller coaster ride where you will want to cry and smile at the same time and sometimes feel like killing Lylah for the suspense. You’ll fall in love with all the characters and at the same time you feel like hating them You feel the urge to read the book again and again.
OMG! Why anyone didn’t tell me about this story earlier. Mafia and his Angel trilogy consumed me completely and I was wrecked afterwards. This story took my breath away and I was craving for more. Dark romance with mafia plot is one of my favorite books and with this one I was totally sold.
My heart was riding on the wave of quick action packed plot with twist and turns in the story. It was tragic and beautiful at the same time. I was deeply touched and countless times strayed tears was running down my cheek.
Ayla, my poor Ayla. I’ve never read about so broken heroine so far. My heart was bleeding for her uneasy, unfair and cruel fate. Her whole life she was surrounded by danger, merciless and fear. She was lost and left alone and when she accidentally got to Russian, cold hearted mafia boss house, I was petrified.
Alessio was ruthless and Ayla’s biggest enemy but the most handsome man she has ever seen. He was unpredictable, arrogant and dangerous but his character thrilled me completely because his own story was tragic the same. His heart was ripped from his chest a long time ago and from that moment he became emotionless and full of revenge.
Their relationship wasn’t easy but full of passion, lust and desire. it was so thrilling to watch their slow burn feelings and when it exploded with full force I was engrossed by them completely
I love how Lylah James author pulled me into the story. Every book in this trilogy brings something new and unexpected. Her style of writing mesmerized me and fell deeper and deeper into this mafia world.
She was excellently playing with my emotions, once my heart was melting over Ayla and Allesio and next was cracked open.
Lylah James author is my new found author of 2019 but quickly became one click author and I will blindly read every book she releases because her stories grab my heart, mind and soul completely.
You’re an amazing writer. To watch how far you’ve come since Wattpad is mind-blowing. Keep up the great work
First read for this author and I am glad I got the opportunity to read this one, it’s such a dark twisted and steamy story that lets you hooked and hanging for the next one. So good, off to the next one now!
This book is one of THE best, had me at the edge of my seat. 10/10 would recommend.
IT is one of the best books I have ever read. You never know what to expect,it’s amazing!!!!!!
I absolutely loved this book!
Mafia and His Angel was such a delicious read!! It’s a slow-burn, dark, mafia romance.
This book is filled with twisted, dark, passionate scenes that leave you wanting more. I will warn you now that this book is not for readers who enjoy a love-filled, happy book. This book is dark. Murder. Rape. Suicide. But this book is exactly my cup of tea!! I enjoyed every bit of it! Does that make me f*cked up? Probably. But this book was amazing!
Mafia and His Angel has left me wanting more!! I need to know what happens next.. All I can say, is be ready to claw your eyes out because you can’t read fast enough!!
I can not wait to read more of this series!! Dark romance is my love. 5 stars all around!!
Amazing work…so in love with this book.
I don’t have a way with words, but this book is that one of the books I want to read for the rest of my life. I am so inlove with the brothers. This book took me 3 days to finish because I can’t stop crying. I’m so excited for Viktor and the rest of the bratva.
I love mafia romances. This series was recommended to me and when I got the chance to read and review the books I didn’t hesitate!
Alessio is the Bratva boss. One day he finds in his home a mysterious woman, Ayla. Ayla is really the daughter of the Italian mafia leader and the wife of one of the members. She’s been abuse by her husband but escaped and hid in Alessio’s car without really knowing who he is. She can tell him her true identity because the Bratva and the Italians are enemies.
She starts working for him while she’s developing feelings for him. Alessio has similar conflicted feelings and a burning desire to make Aria his. It was interesting to see how a ruthless man like Alessio, can become gentle and caring for a certain someone.
Their chemistry is off the charts. I loved all the encounters between Alessio and Ayla. It was sad to read how deeply traumatized Ayla is and how the bad blood between their families made her keep everything a secret.
An amazing mafia story told in parts that you really need to pick if you are a fan of the genre!!!
I received this as an ARC in exchange for an Honest Review}
This book was so good!! From the first page you can tell this book is Dark. A Mafia boss at war with the other. The Russians vs. the Italians and in the middle is Ayla only no one except her knows that she is stuck in the middle and she has to keep it that way! This book is full of secrets, suspense and lots of love. It is so good! The main characters Alya and Alessio are the best! They have so much chemistry it’s insane! This book is REally good and I am SO excited for part 2!
Ayla the daughter of Alfredo Abandonato the mafia boss of he Italians, and the fiance to his second in command Alberto. She had to escape Alberto or he would kill her so she did. She ran right in the Alessio the Mafia Boss of the Russians. He is Dangerous more dangerous than her father and the are enemies. She knows that to stay alive she has to lie about who she is. She is stuck with Alessio and his “family”. For the first time she is surrounded by people who don’t want to hurt her and who are kind to her.She may like them but she is still wary of Alessio she knows that she can’t get to close him because of who she is. That doesn’t stop her from feeling something for him. He is insistent on getting under her skin and getting close to her. She knows she shouldn’t but she likes being around him he makes her feel safe. She might be in the enemies house but she has never felt more at home.
Alessio has one thing on his mind and that is taking down the Abandonato’s and avenging his mother’s death. So when this beautiful broken girl comes crashing into his life he taken aback. She was someone he was not expecting. He figured he could use her for a good fuck and be done. What he wasn’t expecting was to feel something for her. He doesn’t know anything about her yet what he can see he likes. He doesn’t want to feel anything for her feelings are a weakness he can’t afford. He can’t stay away from her she draws him in. He tries to fight it but she brings out the good in him and his protective side. He can’t stop himself from falling for her. He knows that she was hurt and he will do everything in his power to make sure she is never hurt again.
The way Alessio changes in this book towards her is so amazing I love him so much! His protective side is my favorite. You can feel the Love in this book! Ayla and Alessio are soul mates! They are so meant to be and so perfect the chemistry and connection between them is so wonderful I love them! This was from the POV of Alessio and Ayla but Lylah also added one or two different POV’S and usually I hate that but it was written so perfectly that I didn’t mind and I actually enjoyed the others POV. This book is so Amazing! The feelings in the book are wonderful! Lylah wrote an amazing book and I am so Excited for part 2!! I recommend this book if you want a dark romance that has strong feelings and great characters! I Love this book!
“A connection so deep, so irrevocably beautiful yet haunting and dangerous, it brought us peace, even through the pain.”
I am not much of a fan of dark romances or mafia romances but everyone always had such good things to say about this series, which had me super curious. Now having read it… I SO SO get it! My goodness this series was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
I honestly fell in love with this world so fast. I couldn’t get enough. Alessio was everything my goodness. That bad-ass man is a dream.
I couldn’t put this book down, such a page turner. A book that will pull all the feels from you. I freaking loved it!
And Lylah’s writing was phenomenal. I love the way she writes, it is lyrically beautiful. I swooned at her words, for real. I have so so many parts highlighted, sometimes even whole pages, that’s how good her writing is.
Two broken souls, and a chance at love in a dark world. They bring light and peace into the darkness of each other’s life, and are helping each other heal.
I love that this was a slow burn. They definitely had an attraction from the moment they met, but Ayla and Alessio take it slow.
The glimpses into their past are very well written and a little hard to read. Their pasts definitely show in their present in their behavior and actions.
I enjoyed the Mafia world Lylah has created and look forward to reading how the one secret being kept by Ayla will be handled. Also how that reveal at the end will unfold in the next book.
