She fears the dark.He rules it.Her dresses are too tight, her heels too tall. She laughs too loudly, eats without decorum, and mixes up most sayings in the book. Little do most know it’s just a sparkly disguise, there to hide one panic attack at a time.Nobody can crack Gianna’s facade . . . no one anyway, until he comes along. Most see a paragon of morality; a special agent upholding the law. In … special agent upholding the law. In the New York underworld, others know him as a hustler, a killer, his nature as cold as the heart of ice in his chest. Christian Allister has always followed the life plan he’d envisioned in his youth, beneath the harsh lights of a frigid, damp cell. With a proclivity for order and the number three, he’s never been tempted to veer off course. But perhaps one should never say never . . .
One winter night and their lives intertwine. She hates him—his stone-cold demeanor, his arrogance and too-perceptive eye—but over the years, even as their games consist of insulting each other’s looks and intelligence, she begins to live to play with him.
Nowhere in Christian’s plans had he ever prepared for Gianna. She’s chaos embodied, not his type, and married, but none of that can stop his eyes from following her wherever she goes.
All along, she doesn’t even know that she’s his—his frustration, his fascination.
His maddest obsession.
*Can be read as a standalone, though it is recommended you read The Sweetest Oblivion first to avoid spoilers from Book #1

“How about because I love you, Gianna? Because I think I have since the moment I saw you? Because if you “weren’t in this world anymore, I would find a way to take myself out of it?”
One of my favorite books of all time. After reading The Sweetest Oblivion I honestly didn’t really care about reading this book but I’m so glad I did. I absolutely adore Gianna. She’s one of my favorite heroines ever. On top of her being so hilarious I truly loved how selfless and caring she was. She went through so much and still was so strong. She deserved the world. I could go on and on about how much I love her. Christian was literally perfect and men like him really don’t exist in real life. Overall I really loved them together. Also them having a daughter….I hope we see more of Kat in the future. I really loved the Nico and Elena crumbs that we got in this too.
I found the Made series through Twitter and I will be forever grateful for it.
The Maddest Obsession features Christian and Gianna. These two intrigued me in The Sweetest Oblivion, but who would have thought that they are this explode. Gianna and Christian completely stole my heart and blew my mind. I loved their hot and cold relationship! I have read many mafia and dark romances books but there isn’t a single couple that could beat Christan x Gianna.
I love Gianna for her sassiness! She is probably the best feisty heroine that I have ever read. She is quirky and vibrant, but also so warm and vulnerable. I could really relate to her. Her life isn’t easy but she tries to make the best out of it. She had to endure so much shit and was told she was unworthy, she is the most worthy and I’m so glad she finally saw that. Her and Christian are so different and yet there is no couple better matched!
Christian is one hell of a men. He is just the type of domineering and arrogant, which I feel attracted to. A real sociopath that I love and he has so much sexiness. His personality and his love and adoration of Gianna was everything. These two had the best chemistry and verbal sparring of any couple I’ve read to date. Their banter was awesome and I couldn’t get enough. I hope to see more of them in Ronan‘s book!
This is an absolutely amazing and outstanding enemies to lovers story. It’s my favourite trope and Danielle Lori really delivered and extraordinary couple
Danielle Lori!! She knows what she’s doing this book you guys read it read it now!!
dare i say i have found my perfect mafia romance?
goodness! this was everything. from the writing to the story, from the romance to the emotions, everything was impeccable in this one.
this book tells the story of Gianna & Christian. Gianna is the wife of the capo of Cosa Nostra & Christian is FBI. sounds messy right?
danielle brought together 2 people with stark different personalities so beautifully. they complimented each other so well.
Coming to Danielle’s writing. There is something so beautiful about her writing. She will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the time.
Ah-mazing! Now I need the 3rd book like right now!!
Holy heck!!! We only thought Nico was the ultimate possessive hero! Christian takes things to a whole other level!
After marrying into the Cosa Nostra, Gianna finds herself playing hard to adjust to the disappointments life has served her. When a drug arrest lands her in the possession of a federal agent, she expects to be interrogated about the men who make up the lifestyle she has been a part of since her marriage. What she doesn’t expect is for him to be morally questionable and undeniably dirty.
Christian’s past has molded him into a man with deep, dark secrets.
His connection to the Cos Nostra was unwanted until something, or someone, caught his attention. Now he’s living his life in a mess of conflicting emotions, trying to overcome the urges that drive him onward. For a man who has complete control in his life, everything having a neat and tidy place, and no fear, he’s making decisions that he knows will do nothing but bring chaos.
”In reality, she’d touch my sh!t. Reorganize my things. Fill my apartment with sugary cereal. And most importantly, slowly dig her way into my past. And when she did that, she’d hate me more than she already did. Maybe even be disgusted. I couldn’t stomach letting her see me in that light.
I was worried about whether I would like Gianna as I didn’t really care for her in the first book. But it didn’t take long for me to see that there was so much more to her than what is on the surface. She has her own taste in clothing, a seemingly wide open personality that pulls everyone in, and a dark past that has left its mark in the form of panic attacks. While her drug use bothered me, the underlying reasons for it was understandable. When her past is finally revealed, I hurt for her.
Christian does not give in to his obsession as other heroes before him have. He fights it every step of the way, even when he reluctantly yields to it, justifying it in his mind.
The longer he indulges in his want of the thing he can’t have, the more he realizes that it will force him to share the secrets he has never spoken of in order to keep “it”. And that can never happen.
The relationship between Gianna and Christian is filled with so many mixed emotions. There is a lot of push and pull here laced with animosity, desire and angst.
Christian:
”When she was close, all I could focus on was that she smelled like temptation. Like something I wanted to worship and degrade at the same time.”
Gianna:
”He was so formal and uptight, anything remotely sexual felt so much dirtier with him.”
Spanning seven years, they are at times in the peripheral of each other’s lives, and other times separated by choices and miles that seem to keep them apart. Gianna is married when she first meets Christian but her young life, hopes and dreams have been upended. When forced together, she labels their interactions as games, while he uses them for his own personal reasons.
”I’d gone out of my way and followed her around for godd@mn years just to look at her. I’d insulted her just to hear her smoky voice and witty response.”
This couple light up the pages of this book like a nuclear explosion. There was so much sexual tension here that I’m sure my fingers indented the edges of my Kindle.
While this doesn’t have a dramatic conflict, the personal issues that have to be dealt with are soul destroying and make for more than enough drama. The flashbacks and timeline were a bit confusing at times, although the author does clearly label them. Despite the mafia lifestyle not being the core of this story, its presence is very much felt. While I liked the epilogue, this couple had to work hard to get to their happy ever after and I was a bit disappointed that we didn’t ever get to really see them together in that state. An additional scene would have been, as Gianna might have said, “the icing on the brownie”.
“Haven’t you heard? Love is an obsession. Some would even say..the maddest obsession.”
I’m speechless. I can’t even express how obsessed I am when talking about this book. I thought The Sweetest Oblivion owns my heart in the most possible way, but The Maddest Obsession ended up stealing the other half of it. Like seriously, both of these books have their own unique special qualities that made readers fell in love with them equally.
First of all, can I just say that this book is everything? If you’re looking for a hero being obsessed with the heroine type of trope (just like the title), then this book is perfect for you. For me, ChristianGianna is literally one of the most powerful couples that you won’t mind if they ended up stepping on you.
Before reading this book, I have always been intrigued with Christian’s character since TSO. To me, he has a very interesting personality that you would like to discover more. Therefore, in this book, Christian Allister is extremely intimidating and mysterious so it is pretty hard to really know what’s going on with his mind. But later on, we will finally get to know the real him and I swear I can’t stop falling in love with him even more than ever. Whereas for Gianna, I don’t know why I didn’t really like her in TSO, but this book changed my mind entirely. She has such a strong and sassy personality that I can’t help but adore so much.
Now, when talking about their relationship, ChristianGianna really sets the high bar of being one of the best fictional couples. Their chemistry and sexual tensions are god tier and I can’t even describe how perfect these two when it comes to completing each others’ lives. Their moments are just *chef kiss* and you can’t help but salivating for more.
Overall, this book is another win for me because it was absolutely addicting. Danielle once again able to deliver another remarkable story with her amazing writing style so I have to salute her for that. Everything about this book is perfection and I could never ask for more. I truly recommend everyone to read this book but it will be much better if you read The Sweetest Oblivion first
Danielle’s books hold a special place in my heart…and on my bookshelf :D. I liked this book even better than TSO and that is because I found the story more emotional and the characters more profoundly written. I was so impressed with Gianna even more because I wasn’t pleased with her in the first book and she came as a big pleasant surprise in this one. Reading her story made her so special and human. Her kindness and sense of humor overshadow her bad habits and make her impossible not to love. Her story made my heart ache and I appreciate an author who can do that to me, as weird as it may sound. I could actually feel her loneliness, pain and disappointment in the world. That being said, I am so happy she found someone like Christian or that he found her because regardless of his obsessive, possessive and controlling behavior (although these make him such a sexy and attractive male character), you can see how much he loves Gianna. I think the building of their relationship was perfectly written, couldn’t have been better, and their funny and witty replies mixed perfectly with the amount of sadness that is in Gianna’s life in order to put you through a diversity of emotions (not just the sadness). These kind of interactions between characters seem to be a pattern in Danielle’s book and I love her style.
Before ending this review, I want to point out another reason I think Danielle is a good writer and her books are so well-written and organized and that is because of how she creates her characters. I mean, I have read books by the same author and at some point I had the feeling that I was reading the same characters (male and female respectively) over and over again because they didn’t have something distinctive and the emphasis was too much on the action or the sexual attraction, but with Danielle’s characters you can tell which is which and who is who and that is not just a cheesy romantic mafia book. I don’t know if this happened to anyone else…
In the end, there’s no way I wouldn’t recommend this book or any other of her books but I wouldn’t recommend it to those who like fairy tale pink romances… I mean, this is mafia books you’re reading (and Dannielle’s are not even dark).
Mafia romance is one of my favorite things to read, but I have surprisingly few “go to” authors in the genre. Danielle Lori just added herself to the mix with The Maddest Obsession, the second book in her Made series. It’s predecessor, The Sweetest Oblivion, was one of my top reads of last year, and I can already tell you without a shadow of a doubt that this one is going on my list for 2019!
Gianna and Christian are sexual tension personified! Whenever they came in contact with each other, I felt like I could barely breathe! My heart beat faster. I would get anxious. The whole nine yards! Seriously, their chemistry was out of this world! Though that comes as no surprise to me, because the author is a master of sexual tension. I dare anyone to read either one of the books in this series and say otherwise!
If had to choose one thing I loved most in this book though, it would be Gianna and Christian’s banter! It gave me life!! Each encounter between them was a verbal sparring match that felt like it needed to end in the bedroom. Sometimes it did, and when that happened, my kindle almost caught on fire!
The Maddest Obsession is a steamy mafia romance you don’t want to miss! From the spectacular writing to the complex characters and smoking hot sex scenes, it’s nothing but absolute perfection.
If you’re a mafia romance fan, The Maddest Obsession is a MUST READ!! Start with The Sweetest Oblivion, because you’ll love that, too! As far as I’m concerned, the Made series is gold, and this author is one of the best I’ve read in this subgenre!

“Haven’t you heard? Love is an obsession. Some would even say . . . the maddest obsession.”
I am officially IN LOVE with this story. I absolutely loved the first book in the series, The Sweetest Oblivion but I have to say that Gianna and Christian have stolen my heart. I’ll go as far as say that The Maddest Obsession is one of my all-time favourite book. It is THAT good. Gianna and Christian ‘s chemistry and attraction is addictive and utterly captivating.
Overall, The Maddest Obsession is a thrilling, sexy, enchanting, compelling, enemies-to-lovers romance filled with twists, mystery, passion and incredible chemistry. It’s oh so rare for me to love the hero and heroine equally, but this was definitely the case with Gianna and Christian. I loved them so much both as individuals and as a couple. I couldn’t get enough of them, and am still desperately hoping for a novella.
I highly, highly recommend this book.
To be honest, I didn’t really know what to think about Gianna after reading the first book so I was a little worried that I wouldn’t like her in the second. She came off as too superficial and shallow for my taste, which is why I wasn’t fully convinced of her. Christian, on the other hand, had me immediately intrigued. He was so freaking sexy.
Now that I’ve read Gianna’s (and Christian’s) story, I can say that my worries about the h were completely unfounded. I liked her so much! A lot more than Elena actually.
This book, while not as sexually intense as the first one (it was there but it seemed stronger between Nico and Elena), was more sweet and fun than book 1. There were moments that had me grinning from ear to ear because of Christian’s sweet side and laughing because of Gianna’s quirkiness and sassy mouth.
“I’m not going to be able to make it.” I pouted. “I made plans with my cat weeks ago.” – Gianna
“You eat my dinner and then don’t fuck me afterward. It’s rude, Christian.” – Gianna
The few overlapping scenes with book one were a great bonus. I really enjoyed them. (Nico and Christian? Uhm can we get some kind of bromance, please? Their scenes were hilarious!!!)
Jesus, he was hard-up for this girl. I wished I couldn’t relate. – Christian about Nico
Some people are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them. Gianna Marino and Christian Allister are all of the above.
My darling GIANNA RUSSO MARINO ALLISTER:
The love I have for Gianna is out of this world. She’s my darling, my sweetheart,my baby and my little star. Christian and I do not have a lot of things in common, but ONE thing and perhaps the most important thing is that we’re both crazy obsessed with Gianna.
That girl has the biggest heart in the universe, but covers it up with sarcasm, alcohol and drugs and a lot of sass. She has so much love to give, but no one gives a shit about her. Antonio, Sydney, her father … they are all on top of my hit-list and I wish them all the bad karma in the world. Whatever will come their way, they deserved it.
“Gianna wasn’t in the passenger seat when I headed outside–she was across the street, handing money to a homeless man who looked like he’d just been released from the state penitentiory.”
My girl is selfless af. She would walk barefoot in the snow to give some prostitute her shoes and give money to the ones in need. Gianna is the best and I truly thought I couldn’t love her more, but then she had to go and say THIS to the love of her life:
If you looked a little less like an anal-retentive asshole, you might get laid every once in a while.
And that’s children, is how my obsession began. How can you NOT love her, if you don’t please get help . My obsession really went out of hand, cause I made a list why Gianna and I are soulmates. If you look at the following list, you would think Christian who?
Kissing Christian Allister made me feel more alive than any drug ever could
1. Sooo, i’ve never kissed someone whose name is Christian Allister, but yk semantics. If I’d kiss Christian I’d definitely feel like Gianna too. It’s the thought that counts. Told ya we’re the same person.
“That’s because I only run when someting’s chasing me.”
2. Never in my life have I related to something more. Because same girl same. I hate running. Running was invented by the Devil and shouldn’t be done under any circumstances. The act of sweating by exercising? D-I-S-G-U-S-T-I-N-G.
It had only taken five days for me to feel like I needed to find a support group for Christian addicts.
3. Did someone say Christian ADDICTS? The only difference between us is that all it took me was less than one hour before I got addicted and not 5 days. That’s some resilience, I’m giving her that. If anyone knows where to find said support group for Christian addicts, please show us the way, Mina and I, we truly need to find the way back.
Later, I pushed his meticulously-placed toothbrush an inch to the left in retaliation.
4. THAT’S HOW YOU START A WAR! If your significant other pisses you off, you rearrange his toothbrush so his OCD ass is getting triggered. That’s how it’s done, Gianna baby show them! She’s my spirit animal. One day when I grow up, I aspire to be this passive-aggressive and petty. There is still so much for me to learn from Queen Gi.
CHRISTIAN – THE KING – ALLISTER
Black suit. Broad shoulders. Smooth lines. Blue.
The fact that I will never have a guy like Christian who is crazy obsessed with me for years and calls me “malyshka” or “moya zvedochka” is what is wrong with the world. Tell me what’s the point? What’s-the-fucking-point-in-living? Maybe I’m still in denial, but what I know for sure is that I’ll never get over it and will mourn this forever.
I couldn’t help but think this was a man all other men aspired to be. He was the perfect prototype, and everyone else had just gotten the small details wrong.
No offence to the rest of the male population, but they just don’t have what it takes to be on Christian’s level. He shot someone because he found that person annoying for god sake and not to forget that guy disrespected Gianna infront of him.
I love psychotic characters so much. Christian really doesn’t like it if people touch his stuff. Noted.
For someone so cold, the world that come out of Christian’s mouth… whew my ovaries exploded.
If you ran, Gianna…” The words were malicious yet somehow as soft and desperate as sex in a war-torn field. He pressed his lips to my ear. “I would find you.”
“What are you afraid of?”
“Everything,” I whispered, trailing my finger across the starched collar of his dress shirt. “You’re not afraid of me.” We were so close his cheek brushed my tear-streaked one when he rasped, “And baby, I’m worse than the dark.”
“I’m going to ruin every part of your body for any other man, malyshka, and you’re going to thank me when I’m done.”
Jeez, sir chill! Please stop for a moment and let us all ordinary humans breath for a second. Your charm is hitting me so fast & hard in the face, it’s making me dizzy.
He helped me rinse off the dishes and clean up the kitchen. Then, he held my face and kissed me softly on the lips.
“Thank you for dinner, malyshka.”
I don’t know where Christian learnt his manners, because it’s obviously not from his mother. But a man who can show appreciation when his woman does someting for him: A GEM He can tell me that he can throw a 50kg rice sack around and that doesn’t even make him half as manly as just having decent manners and saying thank you. It’s not even something big, but the fact that Christian is always thanking Gianna for making dinner is making me so soft! Grand gestures are overrated, start with the little things first.
Safe to say that Christian ruined me for all fictional and non-fictional men.
THE DRESSED-TO-THE-NINES AGENT & THE WALKING FASHION DISASTER A.K.A MY PARENTS
Christian and Gianna were two asteroids orbiting around each other for 7 years and meant to collide at some point. They tried so hard to stay away, but one can not outrun destiny.
I once heard a proverb that said “You often meet your destiny on the road you take to avoid it.” and it fits Christian & Gianna perfectly. They couldn’t be more the polor oppsites, but that’s what makes them PERFECT together.
Christian the cold OCD dirty perfectionist fed who has his whole life planned down to every meticulous detailmeven the woman he’s going to marry. And then BOOM enter Gianna the chaotic bubbly live-for-the-moment entrepreneur slash gambler Italian who dressed like the love child of Britney Spears and Kurt Cobain. They hate that they feel even an ounce of attraction, but every time they meet their explosive chemistry is undeniable.
Christian and Gianna are hands down one of NA most entertaining couple and it’s all because of their BANTER. There is nothing that brings me more joy than seeing Gianna’s witty answers and Christian’s dry responses to everything she says.
Paaa-lease, imagine someone else calling Christian an incessant bug. INSTANT DEATH. But coming from Gianna, that’s the highest praise one can get. We stan one sassy queen.
AHAHAHA. I can’t. I really can’t with this girl. Christian is acting like he’s so done with Gianna, but his heart secretly SOARS every time she opens her mouth.
“Say something in Russian.”
“Ty samaya krasivaya zhenshchina kotoruyu ya kogda-libo videl.”**
“What did you say?”
“You’re annoying.”
“I would hate to be Russian if it takes that many words to say something so simple.”
**You are the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.
ADLDK$/IEOWOKL YOOOOO RIP. Here lies my completely obliterated heart and ovaries. Cause of destruction: Christian Allister beeing a smooth motherf*cker.
The range they have, to go from that** to this. UNPARALLELED SHIT. If that’s not couple goals, I don’t know what is.
“I’m clean,” he rasped.
“I’m not worried. I’m sure your body temperature is too cold for any STDs to survive.”
LMAO Gianna roasting Christian’s cold demeanor. Girl, I aspire to be such a savage!
“Who’s paying for this private plane ride? My tax dollars?”
“You have to make an income to pay taxes.”
“I do. I’m an … entrepreneur.”
“You’re a gambler,” I corrected dryly.
“Same thing, really.”
SIR? Back off! Not everyone in this world can be a fed. Entrepreneurs like Gianna are EXTREMELY important for the economy. I just wrote an exam on Entrepreneurship SO I KNOW. I’m basically an expert on that topic. Takes an entrepreneur to see one
What if someone arrests me while you’re in the bathroom?”
“I’d bail you out.”
“If you couldn’t?”
“I’d be locked up beside you.”
I- my babies are so precious. I love them so much omg. If something would ever happen to them, I’d burn the world down.
“Would you visit my grave if I died?” His eyes grew dark. “I’d die before you were ever in a grave, malyshka.” I loved his possessive side. And I loved his dark side, too.
Leaving all snark and sarcasm aside, my favorite thing about Gianna and Christian is that they put on a facade for the outside with their indifferent / no-care-in-the-world persona, but they could see each other’s truth beyond it. Gianna saw that something dark and dirty was lurking behind his cold eyes, while Christian knew Gianna was a vulnerable girl who just wanted to be loved, but deep down felt like she didn’t deserve it. Gianna was and will always be the chink in Christian’s armour.
They are soulmates. As much as they tried to stay away, fate brought them back together over and over again. Christian was there for Gianna’s most pivotal moments and helped her through her lows.
Christian was simping hard for Gianna.
The Maddest Obsession called me lonely in Russian and English over 331 pages and you know what? I’m totally fine with it, because in some fictional universe in NY, Christian & Gianna are sitting in a park and feeding pigeons together while whispering cute russian endearments to e/o.
5 STARS
Danielle once again wrote a stunning, romantic, exciting novel.
Gianna. Her fate is not easy. My heart ached when I read some of the scenes. I wanted to hug her. Behind a beautiful, funny, mischievous girl is a sad and small woman.
Christian. Oh. He won me over in the first book. And to be honest, I thought he was going to have something with Elena, but when I got to his scene with Gianna, I died. Such a short scene, but such sparks and a long history. Christian’s fate is not easy either. Behind his cold, brutal mask, there is also a little boy.
In the beginning, I didn’t really understand their relationship. But Chapter by Chapter, it became clearer. Their story is darker, not so simple. But what they’ve come to, it’s worth it. I just cried at the end.
Such a great book and honestly one of my all time favourite reads.
After reading sweetest oblivion Danielle Lori became one of my top favorite authors especially for mafia books and this book certainly didn’t disappoint.
The enemies to lovers transition was flawless the book flows so beautifully you really can’t put it down.
Our characters were very captivating, ice and fire, the H is obsessed alpha hole who is possessive and all things delicious, our h is a little quirky/bubbly (which I found highly endearing) quick witted and strong despite everything she’s endured. The story is very well written the chemistry insane and all in all and excellent read that I highly recommend.
Definitely a must read for mafia/enemies to lovers book lovers. Can’t wait to read the rest of the authors up and coming books.
If I thought book one was amazing, this book topped it by a long run. This is one of those books I wanted to immediately re-read. Part of the reason is I never would have thought I could like Gianna, but dang it if I didn’t love her within the first chapter. And Christian. I’m obsessed with him.
I’m completely impressed with this authors writing. She has a few things in this story that normally would cut back on my enjoyment of it, but I have to admit I think it made their story better. That’s how good the writing was.
I would say that you will want to read book one first. Some of the timeline in this book coincides with book one and it reveals a few spoilers. You also get a POV of Nico’s that I was thrilled to get. It’s just a small tidbit, but I loved it anyway.
I don’t know if the author has plans to write more in the series but I really hope she does. Although, I’m not sure how she’s going to top Christian for me.
“Haven’t you heard ? Love is an obsession. Some would even say… the maddest obsession.”
It’s been a while since I read The Sweetest Oblivion so I was a bit confused about who Gianna was. What I remembered was this flashy, over the top woman who didn’t believe in love. So I was pretty excited to know more about her. As for Christian I liked him from the beginning and I was impatient to dive into his brain. Let’s just say I had a lot of expectations for this book.
Verdict ? I was NOT disappointed. Danielle Lori delivered a beautiful, sweet, entertaining and addictive story, full of tension and slivers of hope.
“And then I did it for everyone who couldn’t. I did it for every bruise. Every scar. Every slap against my face. Most of all, I did it because I wanted to. I screamed.”
In the world of the Cosa Nostra we follow Gianna Bianchi-Russo-Marino through 7 years of her life. 7 years of suffering, pain, despair, discovery, growth and love. 7 years where she looked for the pieces of herself and played a game of cat-and-mouse with Christian Allister, mysterious federal agent. Their interactions so few and sparse it was hard to believe anything could come out of it. But the connection was there. And the obsession not far behind.
“‘Go to hell, Allister.’ ‘Been there, Russo, and I’m not impressed.'”
The tension and the chemistry between the two were amazing. The banter was funny, they were strong, vulnerable and full of secrets. They were perfect for each other.
I don’t really know how to label this book. Slow burn, second chance romance, enemies-to-lovers ? It’s was a little bit of all of those I guess, but so much more too. The only thing I can add without saying too much is, do yourself a favor and read this story.
“It was madness. It was obsession.”
RATING – 5*
Does anybody else have a hard time reviewing their favorite book? No? Just me? There is always just so much to say.
This book is the second installment in The Made series by Danielle Lori but can be read on its own. This book tells the story of Gianna & Christian.
Gianna is the wife of Capo of Cosa Nostra. She is a strong, unapologetic & hilariously honest girl with a painful past. She keeps her head high & puts up a smiling face in front of everybody. She has her life all figured out until Christian Allister!
Oh man! What can I say about our ‘dirty fed’? He is cold, he is ruthless, he is PERFECT! There is sort of an enigma around him from the very first chapter. His character has multiple layers to it. And Gianna peels each & every one of them carefully. Much to Christian’s dismay, Gianna is bringing chaos in his perfectly organised life. Can he handle her chaos with his not so subtle OCD issues?
“What do I taste like?”
“Kak moya.” (Russian for “Like mine”.)
The chemistry was on fire! From the very first scene of them together, the sexual tension was so palpable. Their constant banter hooked my interest till the very end. The constant push & pull b/w them made the story even more interesting. The added twists & turns were the perfect cherry on the top.
Christian is a walking fantasy of every girl and I think everyone should give at least the first chapter a shot.
Coming to Danielle’s writing. There is something so beautiful about her writing. She will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the time. The way she weaves through the story, slowly building up the intensity, is so gripping. And by the end I was OBSESSED!
“To live with wolves, you have to howl like a wolf.”
I highly recommend this one to you all while I go and re-read it again for the 100th time.
I’m obsessed! Completely and utterly obsessed with Christian Allister. Danielle Lori you satisfied my alpha loving needs with this fabulous and entertaining mafia romance. The Maddest Obsession has everything I like and enjoy in a mafia romance. It’s dark, brutal and sexy.
I have to admit that when I was introduced to Gianna in the first book The Sweetest Oblivion she didn’t make a good impression on me. I was intrigued but that was it. Gianna knocked the socks off me in TMO. She is a fantastic heroine. No filter and honest with a complicated family history. The perfect match for a dirty fed agent.
The hero Christian. Oh my! As cold and ruthless he can be there’s a soft and vulnerable side to him when it comes to Gianna. I knew his past must have been rough to make him the person he is. He’s a killer but there’s so much more to him. So many layers and Gianna is the only one to peel them off of him. Their chemistry is explosive. The build up is deliciously sensual in the way of their bantering and the push and pull. They both give as good as they get. It’s fun and so sexy at the same time. Christian’s obsession with Gianna goes back many years and I enjoyed the little twists and turns along the way. He is one smitten man and it was sooo good!
The other characters from book 1 – The Sweetest Oblivion appears too and it was incredible to be back with Nico “Ace” Russo and Elena. I recommend reading it before The Maddest Obsession cause it so worth it. Especially because of Ace.
With The Maddest Obsession Danielle Lori has created a mafia series I can add to my favorites along with book 1. The Made series is a must read. Her prose is poignant, haunting and gritty. Her character development and storytelling are flawless leaving me wanting more of her words. I especially hope I get more from The Made Men. I don’t want to leave this world of hers.
This book was like a breath of fresh air- much needed and a welcome relief to a month of so-so reads! The chemistry was off the charts and kept the pages steaming while the characters battled back and forth in their love/hate relationship. I loved Gianna’s fierce and sassy personality. I loved that she could crack that impenetrable armor Christian wore so proudly when no one else could. Mrs. Lori has once again outdone herself with this one! I cannot wait to see what else she has in store for us with her future books!
The second book in the Made series and ugh what a book. I honestly don’t know which couple and book I like more because both of them are just amazing. ChristianGianna are EVERYTHING. Like legit, best second book couple ever. Christian Allister…who else.is doing it like him? I mean come ON. dude waited 9 years for her. And Gianna forever a queen. I loved her tenacity and brushless and she wasn’t afraid to be her messed up self and the way Christian loved her for it, and loved every single thing about her *swoon*. The storyline is good, I liked that we got to know a little bit more of what goes on and a slight backstory to Christian because he’s such so mysterious. Even though this is classified as a mafia romance I like that it wasn’t in your face and it was more about the characters. This is such a great read, its fun, SEXY and the Smut is ON FIRE. Ugh I love this two so much and I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve reread their book. A great addition to this series. Cannot wait for #RonanMila next!
