The Madam’s Highlander by Madeline Martin is book Two in the Highland Passions. This is the story of Freya Campbell and Ewan Fraser. I have read the previous book, but feel you can make this a standalone if you wish to do so. This book was also in the ‘Historical Hellions and Lords of Love anthologies’ but now can be purchased on it’s own.
Freya is a Madam at a popular establishment who has helped war widow with places to work and stay.
Ewan joined the Black Watch and he is a Captain with them. Ewan is out to clear his father’s name after being hanged. Ewan looks to Freya for help but what they find is feelings they can’t turn away.
Enjoyed their story and look for more books by Ms. Martin!
Highly recommend!!
what do you get when you mix an honorable highlander with a madam that is running a thriving business? Lots of tension.
Freya is doing the best she can to run her business and take care of her mom and sister.
Ewan has never wanted to be branded as a traitor like his father was, but he worries about his mom.
When he blackmails Freya into checking on his mom, circumstances lead them on a roller coaster ride. One of the best stories I’ve read in a while. Don’t miss it.
Absolutely love this story of a madam and her Highlander! This story has so much to offer readers, romance, engaging characters, and a high impact plot. Masterfully written, and well executed. A quick read with twists and turns. A must read!!
The Madam’s Highlander was sent to me for an honest review. I LOVED it! I am a member of a Feminist Romance reading group and will be submitting this title to the group to read! I can’t gush enough about this book. Ms. Martin never disappoints with her romances. On to the plot-
Freya is a beautiful madam. She runs a successful brothel and takes care of herself and her family, too. Enter in the good looking captain, Ewan Fraser, or lovingly known as Captain Nay. Captain Nay is a Scottish man who is with the Black Guard. Basically, he is teamed up with the English. When he requests to go and check on his mother, his superiors deny him. He blackmails Freya to help him out with this. What Freya finds out, leads the good captain and Freya on quite an adventure that ends in love. I can’t share anymore with out dropping major spoilers. I truly enjoyed this book and the character development was phenomenal. I would actually like to read more about this family. Freya’s sister was so lovable. I like how things were not at all what they seemed in the book. Freya was a STRONG woman and she saved those around her, and the Captain was her equal. They needed each other for love, not for what each one could do for the other. This was an overall good read! I read it in about two hours and it was a wonderful two hours. You will not go wrong reading this book!
I could not stop turning pages. The strength of Freya and her determination made the story move along quickly. Ewan’s misplaced loyalties and beliefs lead them into a lot interesting and dangerous situations, but I enjoyed the ride. There were laughs, tears, and smiles all along the way. I highly recommend this story.
This is my unsolicited review.
This is the first book of Ms Martins that I have read and I received it as an ARC. It was not what I expected and I loved it. It is very different from the usual ballroom romances. It was full of emotion, sadness, joy ,suspense and action. It was only a short story but I found it was full of everything you want in love story. I enjoyed the fact that it took you out of the Ton and the ballrooms and into the tough struggles the Scots had with the English. I found it hard to put down and know that I will be reading many more of her books. I also liked that fact that it is relatively clean. The sex scene was short and sweet, which for this reviewer makes the story even better.
This is a great story from beginning to end. It captured my attention from the very first page and I was so drawn in that in some places… well…. Warning: tear jerker! There are some crazy emotional parts, there is no way you can be human and not ball like a baby! There were parts that made me laugh too. I loved fraya and Captain Nay’s (Ewan) story. I loved that everyone got the ending they deserved. This is one of the stories that you wish you could know every little detail of the characters lives and it just goes way to quickly. This book was very well written.
