Fifteen miles off the coast of New Brunswick, Canada, a Soviet-era diesel submarine off-loads four men before being intercepted by a U.S. Navy vessel patrolling the area. The men make up a team of al-Qaeda-trained specialists skilled in the black arts of terrorist warfare and are headed by a man who has billions of dollars in oil money with which to indulge his murderous fantasies. What they do … do next will determine the fates of thousands of Americans.
Rod Eliot, an aging ex-con turned survival expert, stands between them and one of the most devastating plots ever hatched by the deviated mind of a killer: to blow up the five-mile-long Mackinac Bridge and detonate enough plutonium to contaminate the area for decades. When an encounter with the bomb-toting terrorists occurs deep in the woods of the Upper Peninsula, Eliot finds himself in a dangerous cat-and-mouse game with no alternative but to go head-to-head with these murderers. Rod may be the only person who can stop them. But he’s in over his head.
Due to Eliot’s checkered past, law enforcement officials have him pegged for the crimes that unfold over the next few days. Only one, a seasoned FBI agent who is on his trail, thinks Eliot is innocent and is willing to prove it.

I once lived in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and crossed the Mackinac Bridge quite often. Hence my interest in this novel. It did not disappoint – interesting and surprising.
Ok read and is entertaining.
Original plot line but very amateur writing. Could have used a strong editor and a “nicer” ending.
Formulaic
Very interesting plot and characters were developed fairly well. It fell short for me because the story was full of holes.
Don’t know what I expected but it certainly wasn’t what I got! I really liked this book!
I read this book because I live in Wisconsin and I’ve wanted to do the Labor Day Mackinac Bridge walk. The descriptions put me as the reader right into the story. I really enjoyed this book.
What drew me to the book is having grown up in Petoskey, Michigan which is just south of the bridge. I though it was an interesting concept for a book and enjoyed the author’s descriptions of the territory. Yes, it’s a bit implausible but so are a lot of “thriller” type books if you really get down to it. I read it while vacationing in Canada; heading back south over the bridge…well, let’s just say I paid a bit more attention! ; )
Written by a prepper, which could be OK, but not in this story. Too preachy. Author has an axe to grind. Conspiracy theory, anyone?
Very entertaining. Great characters.
As a Michigan resident in the U.P. this book is a real keeper. Able to identify with all the little podunk cities during the entire book.
Loved this book. I couldn’t put it down. The premise is not so far fetched and that was pretty scary.
Being a Michigander, I could see most places in my mind.
Premise was a new one. Narrative proving how bad the bad guy was got a little clinically gross. Not a bad book for a plane ride, and some authentic Yooper came through. Prospects of dirty bombs on the Mackinac bridge…author’s right about “who’d ever think of that?” while making sure folks do.
easy to follow, exciting.
Another Islamophobic bunch of crap.
I enjoyed the book. Interesting, the action lead me along. Fun read.
OK read. Not engrossing.
In this day and age, could happen. I llve In Michigan and know the area written about.
This book is full of action from start to finish and true to the northern Michigan feel, from the beauty of the area to the giant attack mosquitos. The beauty, size and importance of the Mackinac Bridge is showcased when it comes under attack by terrorists during the annual Labor Day Walk accross the bridge.
