He lives alone for a reason, and Jace doesn’t like to be disturbed, but when a woman shows up cold, alone, and scared for her life, his protective instincts kick in. She’s not just protecting a bear, she’s protecting HIS bear, and Jace will do anything to keep them both safe.
The author has again given us characters that we can care about. They have flaws but they also have kindness and love. When Polly grabs baby Brandon and escapes into the woods, a storm forces them to take shelter at a small cabin. Unknown to Polly, it is owned by Jace, the man she is looking for. Hopefully he can save Polly and Brandon from the men chasing them.

This is the first book I’ve read by Sophie Stern and I wasn’t disappointed. The Lumberjack’s Baby Bear is the first book in the Stormy Mountain Bears series, it can be read as a standalone story, no cliffhangers.
The storyline is fast-paced and has plenty of drama and emotion throughout, Polly and Jace have great chemistry and she seems to bring this bear back to life since his fiancee, Alexis and their unborn baby died, now Polly turns up on his doorstep in a blizzard with a baby in tow on the run from danger. Highly entertaining, I will definitely be reading more by this author.
A fastpaced and wellwritten short story that I enjoyed reading a lot. It is entertaining and filled with emotions and great characters.

Polly and Alexis were best friends growing up. Alexis always had a very contolling Father so Polly was happy when her friend was able to escape her dad. Several months later Alexis was at her door again, pregnant. Alexis was still hiding from her dad but soon after Alexis gave birth her dad broken in with his chosen son-in-law to be. When Alexis didn’t agree to marry her dad’s choice, she was killed. Polly took the baby and ran. Alexis had explained that the father was a bear shifter and they were mates but Alexis left to protect him and never told him the truth. Polly is supposed to take the baby to Jace. Polly is on the run through the woods in a snow storm when she runs across a cabin. The own lets her in and to her great surprise, the owner is Jace. Now she has to break the news to Jace.
Jace was a happily married bear shifter with a baby on the way. Then he got horrible news that his wife and unborn child were killed in an car accident. Heart-broken Jace moved out to the woods just to get away from the past. He felt like a failure since he couldn’t keep his mate and child safe. A few months later, he is surprise by a pounding at the door. He discovers a desperate beautiful woman with a baby at his door. Then Polly tells her story and .learns that the baby is his. He knows he will do anything to protect Polly and his son
Jace is a bear shifter who moved into a small cabin up on top of the mountain, on the far side from the town on Storm Haven, after the death of his fiancé and the baby she was carrying. He has gotten used to the lonely life, working hard to chop wood for his fire and spend his spare time reading. What he didn’t expect was a knock on his door in the middle of a storm, to find a soaking wet female looking for shelter, nor the surprise that she had a small baby clutched to her chest. Polly had to run away with baby Brandon, to escape the people who had come after her best friend Alexis and killed her. They would have killed her too for harbouring Alexis. All she knew was to head to a small mountain town, but she never made it there because of the storm. Polly and Jace are both attracted to each other, but there are many more connections the two are yet to discover, that draw them even closer to what has happened in each of their lives and the person who links them both!
A somewhat steamy bear shifter story, with strangers helping to rescue another, with a load of shocking truths having to be revealed to heal the damage done in the years before. Some of the characters have been damaged by events in the past and are slowing working their way around healing from the pain and mostly opting to live alone to recover. Polly helped Alexis and knew of her boyfriend and mate Jace, but had never met him before. Bear shifters finding the human woman they want to be with for the rest of their lives. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
This pulled at my motherly nature. Polly has to get her friends baby to his father before the people who killed her friend gets them. Sweet. Short, and has some steamy scenes, wonderful story

This is the story of Jace, Brandon, Alexis, and Polly. Polly with baby Brandon are looking for Jace. Alexis was killed by her father and Polly took the baby and was trying to find Jace to keep the baby safe. This was well written and I really enjoyed the book. There was action, intrigue, twist and love. I would recommend this book to anyone, I am not a big shifter reader but this changed my mind and found out what I am missing.

Jace lives isolated and alone in his cabin in the mountains after his fiancé, Alexis, is killed. Polly is on the run after watching her friend Alexis murdered, with her friend’s baby, in search of the baby’s father. When a snowstorm hits she finds a cabin and knocks on the door never expecting the handsome man, Jace, who opens the door. Jace knew he had to help this woman with a baby that knocked on his door, and after finding out the circumstances, and who they were he knew he would protect them with his life. I loved Polly and Jace’s story and highly recommend it to everyone.

Completely and utterly taken captive by this story! It was EVERYTHING!!! There were parts where I giggled uncontrollable with each of the hot and sexy men in this series. Each of the books in this set can be read as a standalone however, why read just one when you can have them all. The Alphas and the women who bring them to their knees. Did I say Alpah’s …oh yep I did. This story was completely addictive and intoxicating from the very first page all the men in the set feel they are broken and underserving of a wonderful women but these women prove them wrong and the addiction starts with page one and I never wanted it to end. I laughed, I screamed, I cheered, and possibly flipped through every emotion possible. It was an absolute wild ride from the beginning to the end.
Jace lives alone in the mountains. One stormy night a woman and baby show up seeking shelter. She’s on the run and is actually looking for him. And boy does she have a story to tell.

Jace moved to the wilderness after his fiance and unborn child died. He was heartbroken and needed to get away. Then one night there was banging on his door. He opened it and just. It’s a good story with some loving going on too. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Sometimes you take a stand. Jace has been living in his cabin for 6 months. A woman and a baby show up, using his dead fiance’s name, Alexis and the name they planned on using for their baby, Brandon. Who is this woman? Who is this baby? Why does is the baby so comfortable? The explanations are unexpected. Nice story. Good characters. Good quick adventure. I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
You want a fun, heartwarming read, where the hero is tall, dark, handsome, sensitive AND a SHIFTER all in one?! Well look no further. The Lumberjack’s Baby has it all, and then some! The hero is a woman’s dream man (literally) come true and then some!! This man is quite literally too good too be true, but is definitely fun to fantasize about, while the heroine is your typical damsel in distress who manages to escape the villains by outsmarting them.
This story has the hero and heroine not technically falling in love at first sight, when it was more like second, so I don’t know if that makes it fall into an insta-love story or not, but the hero was 100% protective of the heroine and the surprise baby she brought along with her to the cabin in the woods.
The Author did a great job putting a bit of intrigue, action, suspense, drama, romance, and yes, caveman behavior, all in under a two hour read which is truly remarkable and deserves a reward all of its own. While this book is in no way The Lord of the Rings of To Kill A Mockingbird, IT IS an excellent story to read, especially if you love Shifter stories. Give Sophie Stern a try. I just did. You won’t be disappointed.

Twists and turns galore
The Lumberjack’s Baby Bear is the first book in the Stormy Mountain Bears series by Sophie Stern. It is the story of Jace and Polly. One night there is a knock on Jace’s mountain cabin door and he finds a woman with a baby standing there. Polly is trying to find Jace even though she does not know what he looks like. It turns out that Jace’s pregnant fiancee, Alexis had faked her death, even though he thought she was actually dead. Once she had the baby she actually was killed and Polly was the doctor that delivered the baby and also a friend. Now it will be up to Jace to protect both Polly and his son, Brandon, from the person that killed her, Alexis’ father.
After Jace hears Polly’s story he knows immediately that he will do whatever it takes to protect both Polly and Brandon from anyone that tries to do them harm. What Jace also finds is that he begins to fall for Polly even though he thought he had his one fated mate, Alexis. Maybe he will get a second chance at love with Polly?
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Polly is on the run with her deceased BF baby boy, Brandon. Jace is on the run from his memories of the loss of his fiancé and their son. Polly runs right into Jace and secrets unfold. I liked these two characters, their sense of loyalty and compassion. Fighting their common enemy protecting an innocent brings them closer together. The book is fast paced, had some drama, and a lot of steam. Good read

Polly is there and watches her best friend, Alexis, being murdered by her father. Distraught she follows Alexis’ instructions of what to do if she is harmed. So she grabs Alexis’ baby, Brandon, with all his baby paraphernalia and heads for the mountains. Whilst on the run a snow storm starts and she seeks shelter in an isolated cabin. When she knocks for help, the door is answered by the most handsome of men called, Jace, who was Alexis’ fiance and this daddy to Brandon. Whilst it’s freezing outside, it is certainly heating up inside as Jace’s reaction to Polly is beyond what he expected and Polly feels the same way about him. But with deadly pursuers and a snow storm in full mode, will these three have a HEA as he and Brandon have a secret. Oh boy, this is such a great storyline with wonderful writing and beautiful descriptions and fabulous characters that I loved. Sophie Stern has done an amazing job with this page turning novel and I look forward, eagerly, to reading more of her books! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Most definitely recommended.
There were some inconsistencies, but I could look past them. I expected him to be a bit more domineering based on how they met, but he wasn’t. I also thought the other shifter would be better, same with the “evil” dad. Then, Jace kind of sulks/mopes at the end feeling guilty or unworthy, which is weird based on everything else we know about him. I dunno. It was weird. I think in general the story had some great points and merits a read. I did enjoy it. I was left wanting I guess.
