From the bestselling author of The Good Neighbors…They were supposed to die. Five years ago, the residents of the Gerbera subdivision in the small town of Fallen Oaks were brutally murdered in their beds. The only survivors, now called The Fallen Oaks Five, were children–practically strangers at the time, forever connected by the weight of all they witnessed. Now grown, the anniversary of … grown, the anniversary of their families’ deaths approaches and the Fallen Oaks Five receive letters of warning: the killers are still out there and they aren’t finished with them. In a race against time and murderers who remain both faceless and nameless, the Five must return to their old homes in order to piece together the events of a night they’d all rather forget. Their old town is riddled with secrets, and every person they come into contact with is a suspect. With everything at stake, can the Five solve the mystery and finally learn the truth about the night that cost them everything? Or will they find themselves victims of a fate they should’ve succumbed to years ago?

Engaging and Thrilling!
A truly engaging story that keeps your attention all throughout! The Lucky Ones is a thrilling story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. You honestly have no idea what’s gonna happen next.
Great characters and great story!
The first story I read from this author hooked me in and didn’t let me go. It let me know when I was ready for twist and turns and to be totally invested in the outcome of a story I knew where to turn and she has stayed in that category. What do you do when your life has been totally fubar’d. Yeah these 5 survived a nightmare, well physically at least. We get taken down a rabbit hole as they come together out of fear and stay together out of the need to know. How can you move forward when everyday you are waiting for something to happen. That’s all they had done for 5 years was try to move forward.
As they come together nearing the 5 year anniversary the answers come. But of course with this author nothing is easy and these 5 keep it that way. Who is innocent and who is guilty. Who’s truth is real and who’s truth is manipulated. As the pages fly by you will wonder and wander as the author takes your through her who done it and why maze. Trust no one and cast no stones. No time for judgement because it may be misplaced. Then when you’re done take a minute to ponder. Is there really a lucky one in this entire scenario.
This was an interesting read. It was steady paced and kept me entertained.
Wow! I had no doubts that this book was going to be good but it was even better than I had anticipated!! I was sucked in from the very beginning and was unable to put it down. Very suspenseful and full of some amazing twists & turns. There was never a dull moment.
I absolutely loved this book! From the moment I started it I needed to know what was going to happen next. I had a hard time putting it down to get some sleep! Grab this one for yourself.
As soon as I heard Kiersten Modglin had The Lucky Ones Coming I couldn’t wait!! As soon as I got it I stopped reading the book I was halfway into and started this one! I was caught the first couple pages, I couldn’t put it down! I had to know what happened. I thought through most of the Book I knew the mystery, but I was so wrong! Then the Twist in the last few pages…. Stop it right now!! I couldn’t Believe it! I actually reread the last part again to make sure I read it right! I Love Kiersten Modglin’s Books every one I’ve read so far has me excited for her next one!!
The characters in this story are amazing. I loved them. Then when the other characters come into play, the storyline gets really intense.
One night in the small town of Fallen Oaks, a horrible unforseen tragedy takes place. Five children are left without parents. Now five years later, the fallen oaks five, are all brought together. They all received letters from an unknown source. They want to get to the bottom of what happened five years ago. This story will pull you in and not let you go. It’s a page turner that you will not put down. The twists and turns just jump off the pages. Will these five ever find out what really happened five years ago? The end will shock you.
Kiersten Modglins writing is full of twist and turns that you will not see coming. Kiersten knows how to pull you in and keep you there till the very end. The emotions just jump off the pages. I absolutely loved this book and I highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed.
Kiersten has done it again!!!! This story, so amazingly written, will have you on the edge of your seat from the very first sentence up until the last word. Mystery, intrigue, twists, turns, suspense and interesting characters are the very reason you should be reading this story. The way Kiersten’s mind works when she’s writing these stories is truly a work of art. Can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!!
I’ve read a few of this author’s books and really, really enjoyed them! I had no idea that this book was releasing or anything about it until the author sent out an email with a review request option! The synopsis sounded very intriguing and I love the cover, so I obviously said yes to reviewing and I started reading it as soon as I received my review copy! After reading, I can say that I loved this book! The plot developed at the perfect pace and it got better and better as it developed! I also told myself to only read a few chapters at a time, but it ended up taking my three sittings to read lol! The plot had a lot of action and suspense in it and I couldn’t put it down until I had finished reading it and everything had been revealed! The plot also kept me intrigued and it did go in a different direction to what I was expecting, but it went in an interesting direction! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! Ellie was the main female character, and in this book she had witnessed something very horrific and it had a big impact on her, which was completely understandable! She then went through even more as the plot developed! Ellie tried to keep her head on straight and she was the voice of reason a lot of the time! She had also come a long way, even though she still had issues! There wasn’t quite a love interest for Ellie in this book, but there were four other secondary characters that were important! These characters were Gray, Cassie, Cole and Monica! All of these characters added a lot to the plot and were essential in the development of the plot and what happened in it! I loved the relationship between all the characters and the way they helped and supported each other! This book was only written from Ellie’s point of view, which I loved! I have to be honest and say that I thought that this book was maybe going to be written in third person and from a few different point of views after I read the synopsis, so I was pleasantly surprised when I started reading and it was only written through Ellie’s eyes! I loved it being written this way and I was still able to connect with the other characters! It helped me connect with Ellie as well and see how she was dealing with everything! It allowed me to find things out at the same time as Ellie as well! I can also completely understand why this book is a standalone! Everything in the plot was wrapped up and all the questions raised were answered! I wouldn’t say no to reading more on one of the secondary characters though lol! I now can’t wait to read more books from this author! I still have a few of her books to read, and I’ll definitely be doing that soon! I can’t wait to see what she’s going to release next as well! I’ll read anything by this author now because all her books have plenty of suspense to keep me desperate to read more! The cover for this book is also absolutely stunning! It would attract me to the book if I didn’t already know the author’s name and it actually makes more sense after you read the book and you can see the significance of the daisy!
I loved this book. I sat down to read it this afternoon, and I didn’t stop reading until I finished it. I had to know what happened next! There are the trademark Kiersten twists! No one does twists better than her!
Kiersten Modglin has done it again!!!
The twists and turns in “The Lucky Ones” had me shaking my head and going “Are you kidding me?”
I was enthralled with this novel from the moment I picked it up. Kiersten Modglin has away of grabbing you and keeping hold until you read the shocking ending.
It was emotional yet complicated and exhilarating at the same time!!!
If you are looking for action packed thrillers, you must read “The Lucky Ones”, and all of her other books, too….You cannot go wrong and you will not regret it!!!
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for fair and honest review.
The Lucky Ones is an intriguing thriller about The Fallen Oaks Five, five people who survived the murders of their families when they were children.
The storyline is well written and kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish as The Fallen Oaks Five faces the killer once again, with secrets, deception, twists and turns, suspense, drama, and danger.
I cannot wait to read more books by this author.
I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
3.5 stars!!
This book starts off crazy good!! Has you excited to read more! The characters are kick ass!
I think shortly after the first few chapters it just fell off for me. It picks back up through out the book but it didn’t keep me wanting more.
I do love the twists and the relationships through out the book. The mystery that was behind all the key players was my favorite part. The end was a little predictable but it may be your cup of tea.
The one thing with this author is she can create a space. I could see this town completely and she can write wonderfully.
**I received this book as an ARC and in return gave my honest review**
