One of Book Riot’s “9 Not-To-Be-Missed Romances Hitting the Shelves this Summer” Can a woman who’s down on her luck find love with a dashing Duke-to-be? Find out in The Luck of the Bride, the next Regency romance in the Cavensham Heiresses series from Janna MacGregor. She’s leaving nothing up to chance. Not even love… March Lawson is an orphan who, for the past eight years, has struggled to … Lawson is an orphan who, for the past eight years, has struggled to raise her siblings on a meager allowance. Most women March’s age would be picking out ball gowns for the upcoming season. But March’s focus is not on finding a husband. First, she must devote her energies to just one man: the coldhearted skinflint who refuses to release her inheritance.
Michael Cavensham, the Marquess of McCalpin, is not a heartless man. When he learns that Miss Lawson has been forging his name to procure funds, he can’t bring himself to have her arrested–not when the bold-faced embezzler is so enchantingly beautiful. Instead, McCalpin agrees to visit her home to assess the situation more closely. March has no choice but to accept. But how can she manage the handsome trustee who controls her purse strings–when he tugs at her heart strings as well?

Closer to 3 1/2 stars. I LOVED the first 3/4 of the book. I had literal tears running down my face close to the ending. But the last 1/4 of the book, everything was rushed to be tied up. I hated how quickly one was forgiven of such a hurtful episode, things like that should have taken a bit longer to forgive instead of instant forgiveness. March was such a strong willed sister, taking care of her family from such a young age with tons of responsibility. Michael was a nice hero, although I liked his brother almost better. Bennet, I have to say, stole the story for me! Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy to read!
Boy, talk about a strong woman. March had to take care of her siblings from the age of 17. Her trust tied up, she has little to no money and embezzled her own money. Until her trustee, Michael finds out and realizes he has not done his duty. A cousin of March’s devises a plan to ruin her as she and as she and Michael fall in love things start to fall apart all around her. Will Michael and March be able to be together as scandal surrounds March? You will need to read this wonderful story, keep tissues nearby, you will feel the heroines pain. I received a complimentary copy and I am giving a review voluntarily.
Janna MacGregor has once again impressed me with her storytelling abilities with The Luck Of The Bride. Not only that, she’s presented it in a well-written book filled with phenomenal characters. March is the oldest of the four orphans in her family. Their small family was left to struggle on their own and mostly ignored by guardian and trustee until she was forced to forge the trustee’s signature to withdraw funds from her dowery. Michael steps in when he learns his signature has been forged. He tries to manage this small family while hiding his own secret. March and Michael’s story is loaded with drama, humor, suspense and spice. I loved this book from the first page till the last and look forward to reading my next book by Janna MacGregor. The Luck Of The Bride is book 3 of The Cavensham Heiresses Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The third book in the Cavensham Heiresses series is an absolute must read, even if you did not read the first two. I have really enjoyed the storylines in all three books, but there is something about these characters that make this read very special. It is my favorite book in the series so far. March and Michael are made for each other. Their storyline allows them to discover that, even though the road is not smooth. I had romance, great famlies, characters, and of course a dastardly villian that tries to foul things up royally. My only disappointment is that Michael could have trusted March more towards the end of the book. Thankfully there are more books in the series and they are in my TBR pile.
Outstanding regency/historical romance. March has done everything in her power to try to care for her three siblings. At age 16 her parents died and she was left to care for her infant brother as well as her sisters. She worked the estate doing not just the book work but physically shearing sheep to keep food on their table. She got desperate since no one came forward to help. Unfortunately, her cousin did everything go make life difficult in order to force her to allow her youngest sister to marry him. Eventually, the family was assisted by the Dukes heir Michael. Sadly, even he had personal issues and was unsure if she was trustworthy in spite of their attraction. There is intrigue, suspense, life changing accusations and so much more. As you begin to think all is well then another issue occurs. This book keeps the reader interested from beginning to the last page. Well worth reading. I received a complementary copy via Net Galley and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by Ms. MacGregor.
