Haunting.
I was grabbed by the very beginning and drawn deeper by the dead girl’s first-person narrative. I found it more tragic than scary. I finished it in one night.
Well done. A real thriller!
While I found this book haunting, it was so good. Not upsetting , but memorable. Such an interesting concept. You will be happy you took the time to read this book!
This book is sad and told through the eyes of 14 year old Susie Salmon who was raped, quartered and killed by a neighbor. The book focuses alot on how the family falls apart and pulls together almost a decade after the incident. It shows the destruction and healing of her sister Lindsey and brother Buckely and the parents Abigail and Jack. I loved …
My book club read this and generally agreed it wasn’t our favorite. I’m glad I read it because of the promos it received, but couldn’t appreciate the plot or the characters. It was kind of weird, but book clubs are supposed to challenge us. So, I’m not recommending the book, but encourage you to try it, if you don’t have your next one …
This book is unique ,
some people might like it , some dont ?
But its teaches us about the reality, that life can be gone within a blink . It teaches us to be alert of those close to us . I’ve learnt alot by just reading this fantastic book. Take a wild thought and read this book !
Disturbing
Told from the perspective of a murdered teenage girl, this book was an interesting exercise in suspending disbelief. I loved the highly original concept, but the ending left me wanting more.
Badly written; offensive plot.
I do not understand why this book is so loved. It’s tragic and hard to read in every sense of the word. You basically watch the murderer live his life unhindered after killing the narrator and her family fall apart.
Me book club read this several years ago, and found the atory disturbing. I can only recall the general feeling about the story
Read it when it was first published, and am still haunted by this novel (in the best possible way).
Gave me terrible nightmares.
I really enjoyed this book. Once I started it, I couldn’t out it down.
I think if you’ve only seen the movie, you must read the book ! It’s difficult to sum up just what a profound effect this book had on me, mainly because it’s so beautifully written and so disturbing at the same time. The characters are completely believable, their reactions so well scripted and the central storyline is just uniquely woven.
An extremely good read. Allow yourself to suspend reality for a moment and learn much about life.
The opening pages of this book are haunting. I will always remember them!
As a parent, this novel terrified me on a deeper level than most books of its genre.
A story with a wide range of strong, emotions. Definitely worth reading
