Expected to hate it based on the premise. Finally decided to read it after a family member gave it to me because it was set in my old home town. Turns out to be an absolutely engaging story.
This is by far one of my favorite books and I think everyone should read it
Good read.
This was amazing and breathtaking. I cried, and I laughed a bit. Overall, it was an amazing read. Unforgettable.
Heartbreaking.
Great book. Very different from others in this genre! A unique view of the victim.
Read it years ago and was struck by the terror and tragedy. Haven’t been able to read again since I now have a daughter. That said, absolutely recommend!!
Horrified. Mystified. That’s how this book left me.
“Our heartache poured into one another like water from cup to cup. Each time I told my story, I lost a bit, the smallest drop of pain. It was that day that I knew I wanted to tell the story of my family. Because horror on Earth is real and it is every day. It is like a flower or like the sun: it …
Another story of a sick person murdering an innocent.
I read this immediately following the death of my father, so the timing probably wasn’t the best for me. I was not enthralled with this story like many others frankly I couldn’t wait for the story to end. I almost quit on it several times. Found no reliefwhen it did end either. 🙁 haunting is definitely a good description.
A novel way of looking at what happens after we die. It is a frightening story which I could not read again. This stayed with me for a long time.
So much better than the movie. A tragic exploration of the connections in our lives and how we need to treasure them.
This was not an easy read, but I’m so glad that I finished it.
I have not cried like this for a long time. Truly heartbreaking. I think I need to read a humorous book now to be able to get over this book.
I did not enjoy this book as much as others. There seemed to be so much information without resolution. Though resultion is not always key, a story this tragic, is disturbing if not tied up at the end. Blame my traditional Liberal Arts education.
This is an absolutely heartbreaking story, how the disapperance of a girl completely destroys a family. How the murderer is one of her neighbors and the complete heartache that he inflicts.
This was a hard book to read, but a great book to discuss in a book group.
Fantastic
Story told by the ghost of a murdered young girl who is trying to connect with her past and lead to her killer.
Pulled my heart out and stuffed it back in my body.
