Really liked it.
It could have used better copy editing.
I loved this book from beginning to end!
It’s a wonder how the characters will twist up their lives so badly over jealousy
Nice writing, but entirely predictable!
Thoroughly enjoyable with several plot and character twists that make the story memorable. Strong female characters to balance the male-centric storyline.
Some interesting historical background information. Characters will developed. Good read
Escapist reading at its best! knew nothing about the country of Tasmania or its history, but the author’s knowledge and beautifully written descriptions take you there. Something different, loved it!
I love these books. The love of the natural world is obvious, the twists and turns in the plot keep the reader interested and engaged. The characters are wonderful and well developed. I also learned more about Tasmania than I ever thought I would, an important bonus from any book.
Great Book! I wish I had found this author sooner. I will be reading more from this author.
Took me to New Zealand, apart of the world I knew little about
I just finished this book and was sad for it to end. I loved the characters even with their flaws. They were well developed and I was always hoping things would work out well for them. Would recommend this book and would like to read another by this author!
interesting; plot good
A great setting, an original plot, and well researched story line. The twists and turns of life captured in a realistic way yet managing to be upbeat.
A marvelous book! Lovely writing, breathtaking descriptions of nature, piercing glimpses into the best and worst of our human psyche, constant surprises, joyous and devastating adventures. Multi-themed, including what constitutes true beauty and love. Also touches upon abuse of women. Follows twins Tom and Harry, who are guided by opposing principles in life. Set in Tasmania Australia in pre-, during, and post- World War II.
Opens with a shocking scene and is always inttiguing, with diverse well-defined characters. The main protagonist Tom, despite his virtues, makes some mammoth mistakes: antagonist Harry, despite his jealousy, anger and greed, shows he is capable of nobility.
I resented whenever I had to stop reading because I’d arrived at my train stop, or lunchtime was over. Profound, lyrical, intense, revelatory. A masterpiece.
Original characters, little known location , and unexpected turns throughout. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
I found these characters to be multi-dimensional and believable. Their personal stories and the overall plot were crafted very well. Ms. Scoullar did a terrific job of re-introducing me to the lovely country, including its flora and fauna. Such a great book!
Well written, exciting, and a very captivating story. Will be reading the rest of the trilogy.
OK if you’re a romantic but misleading with a spitfire on the cover. A little of the Battle of Britain. Used to develop the character.
Great book
