Not all who wander are lost. As Justice of the Arcana Council and an experienced artifact hunter, Tarot-reading Sara Wilde prefers to track down the missing on her own. With her latest case, unfortunately, everyone’s dying to help her out.Determined to locate the Lost Queen, a witch destined to fulfill a dark and twisted prophecy, Sara finds herself corpse-blocked at every turn. Not even the … at every turn. Not even the electric, provocative, and deeply powerful Magician of the Arcana Council–whose newest arcane pursuits test Sara’s emotional and sensual boundaries–can help her find her mark.
Worse, Sara isn’t the only hunter on the case. From the shadowy labyrinths of Budapest to the ancient churches of Moscow to the glittering lights of Los Angeles, the world’s most powerful male witches are gunning for the Lost Queen, demanding her as their rightful consort. Right before they end up dead, each more gruesomely than the last. There’s definitely a pattern here…and one Sara needs to break, before her own mercurial Magician becomes the prophecy’s next target.
Better hope you don’t find what you’re looking for when you hunt The Lost Queen.

Once again, Jenn Stark has brought me along on a wild ride with Sara Wilde and company. Her new role as Justice is bringing her new and unusual adventures while she herself embarks on a very steep learning curve. This work is so very outside her bailiwick that she’s never sure if she’s doing things right or not. All she can do is follow her own sense of justice and hope for the best. And continue learning from those around her that are older and wiser and definitely more than happy to give their opinions.
This particular case is a weird one. She’s chasing an ongoing prophecy that comes back to bite the world every 28 years. Problem is, while complaints have been submitted to Justice, they haven’t been addressed in a very long time, if at all. So Sara has a backlog of complaints around this prophecy that just confuses things for her. Especially since the complaints generated about this curse/prophecy date back as far as 1542. Which is not to say that’s when it began, just how far back the complaints go. So, confusion? Yeah, lots of that.
So much happens in this volume to Sara, Amraeus, Nikki, Danae and a multitude of witches across time that you need to pay attention. Jenn is going to take you through a fun house of horrors, all seeming individual in nature, yet all connecting as well. As in all good fun houses, she’s going to try to get you lost to force you to you to find your own way out! Basically, she’s going to force you to think!
Jenn Stark is really bringing us her A game with this continuation of Sara Wilde’s life. She’s making us think, and feel, and truly listen to all she has to tell us if we want to really understand where Sara’s life is heading. With her new role in life, we find ourselves having to readjust our viewpoint of Sara and her crew. She certainly has had to readjust her own perspective! Be prepared to meet a whole new Sara Wilde who’s role in life is so very different than her previous one as artifact hunter. She’s not just learning a new profession, she’s gaining wisdom in ways she never expected.
So Very Well Done, Jenn Stark! I am still a huge fan and most likely always will be, particularly if you keep this up!
I received an ARC copy of this book, but since I buy a copy as well I don’t really need to tell you that this is my own review in my own words and given of my own volition. It is, but then, my reviews always are. The Lost Queen is now available for pre-order. Do yourself a favor and do that. It is so worth the read
In this second spin-off from the Immortal Vegas Series, Sara Wilde fully embraces her role as Justice of the Arcana Council and faces her most dangerous and difficult foe to date. The Lost Queen is an ancient witch tangled in a dark prophecy that threatens to unsettle the balance of magic. As always Jenn Stark takes the reader along for the ride from the underground catacombs of Budapest, through the majestic churches of Moscow to glamorous Los Angeles, where Sara finally confront the witch. This time the battle becomes personal as in the pursuit of fulfilling the ancient prophecy, Armaeus becomes a target himself.
As Justice of the Arcana Council Sara powers evolve and multiply, and consequently her relationship with her friends and co-workers, and specially the interaction between Sara and Armaeus, changes. Sara becomes a full member of the Council, without losing her own personality as the connected artifact hunter that we learn to love in the previous series.
Finally, it is not necessary to know the original Immortal Vegas Series to enjoy the new series, but I heartily recommend to check the books as they are great reads.
Jenn Stark’s book never cease to deliver great entertainment especially when it comes to any book involving the character of Sara Wilde. Once again, Stark has delivered a tremendous storyline while further developing the characters of Sara and Armaeus leaving us, the readers, dying to learn more about them and the futures that they will be involved in future stories. A truly great series and book. This series never disappoints.
I swear I need therapy after reading these books! A session on the couch to discuss all the feels! Excellent story, lots to digest. Definitely recommend this story!
I am loving this series. Not only is Justice Wild a badda$$ but she’s an evolving bada$$ which makes her all the better. She gets in and out of so many situations finding out she has a new skill I find myself continually chuckling. This time the fight takes them from Vegas to LA and a few non-distinct locations hunting for answers. She acquires a few new skills which get her out of some messes and into others but who cares since she finds a way to make it all work out for the good. I love Nikki and some of the other characters that seem to support, needle, harass, make fun of and of course there’s some torture too. So many good things about this story I can’t wait for the next one. As usual this author spares no punches and yet packs a wallop between the first and last page.
Once again, Sara is on a crazy adventure. She seems a rogue witch which is kinda killing other witches. She gets help from some of the members if the council. We learn more about the Magician, Sara and some of the other council members. There is plenty if action , twists and surprises.
Oh, I LOVE how this series is developing! Mystery, true love, fabulous characters – what’s not to love?
In this series Sara, as newly called Justice of the Arcana Council, must go through the backlog of cases and ensure justice prevails. Her partnership with the similarly newly called Judgement of the Arcana Council, Gamon (who everyone loves-to-hate) is developing apace. There is a delightful twist at the very end – which I will say no more on to avoid spoiling the surprise.
In this novel, Sara is searching for The Lost Queen – and is helped by friends old and new. The ever fabulous Nikki is along for the ride, and Death, The Devil, and The Magician play their parts in this mystery. This novel is more about strengthening relationships than the first one (The Red King – buy now!) but oh, how wonderful it is. For me, the hardest thing about letting the original Immortal Vegas series was potentially saying goodbye to those characters – and so it is a true delight to have them appear again in this series. Yes, even Eshe, for all that she’s not my fave on the Arcana Council.
Sara has some new tricks up her sleeve, and is reminded she needs to keep developing her existing skill set, too.
You have to buy it. You just have to. Treat your self – you won’t regret it.
