Falling in Love for second time is almost impossible, especially after my wife’s sudden death. And falling for my daughter’s nanny is a big no-no.But my defense is crumbling and I think I am losing my heart too! When my daughter, Violet’s last nanny rejected the offer to relocate with us to Chicago, I had hardly any choice but to appoint a new nanny as soon as possible. And then Megan walked in like … possible.
And then Megan walked in like a blazing sun-ray in my otherwise dull and grey world, with her hot and sexy features and her charismatic persona.
Violet and Megan bonded pretty well which came as a big surprise for me.
And now I think my little girl is obsessed with her and so am I.

A great book that you won’t be able to put down. I couldn’t get enough of it once I started reading it. This story is very well written and will have you hooked from the start. So many things happen to every character that you won’t even imagine. An amazing rollercoaster of emotions. I received this book from the author and reviewed voluntarily.
The Healing Power of Love
As a little girl, the eldest of 5 siblings, Megan learned from her dad two lessons which guided her life. First, her dad had shown her every day that family was always central—his wife and children were his everything. The second lesson she learned was to always face life with hope and positivity. She watched him face with strength the challenges of life, even the premature death of his wife, and later, his own losing battle with cancer.
So, when her mom, a talented hairdresser who dreamed of opening her own boutique died, Megan stepped up and focused on family. She helped her dad keep the little ones on track and fed. And when her dad was diagnosed with cancer that consumed his body as well as the monies he had saved as a mechanic, Megan once more stepped up, quitting beauty school training, to be able to care for her siblings. She got a part-time job at the local beauty shop to help pay off the bills and support her younger siblings achieve their futures.
Now as a young adult, the platinum-haired, green-eyed beauty should be well into her own career, but she is still helping her siblings pay for their dreams and their mistakes. So, when Mrs. Barrymore, one of her clients at the local hair salon where Megan works part time, shares that she would like Megan to consider accepting the well-paying nanny position that Mrs. Barrymore currently holds, Megan is interested. Milo Hudson, a recently widowed father, was relocating to Chicago and Mrs. Barrymore did not feel up to the move. And, knowing how Megan had cared for her own now-grown siblings after their mom’s death when they were young, Mrs. Barrymore thought that Megan would be perfect for the role of nanny for the young motherless Violet Hudson.
Dark-haired, gray-eyed Milo Hudson is the young widowed father of 5-year-old Violet who is about to begin elementary school. But, with his company moving him to Chicago from Irving and Mrs. Barrymore not willing to accompany the little family on their move, he doesn’t know what he will do. Irving is home—he and his 3 brothers grew up there and most of the brothers were still based there. He met his recently deceased wife during their high school days in Irving, and later when they married and started a family, Irving was where they settled.
But, now Irving was not his safe space. He needed a new start away from the sweet memories of life in Irving, and he also needed distance from the bitter betrayal that surround him in Irving. So, when Mrs. Barrymore introduces him to Megan, he needs her to say “yes” to leaving Irving, her home, and relocating with him to Chicago.
Emma Vikes, through the relationship of Milo and Megan, explores how individuals can be brought to points of despair and helplessness in life and love, but are also offered second chances to move forward and to start over. This is a sweet and passionate tale of hope and love and second chances. I would have enjoyed the reading experience had there been better editing for detail consistency and grammar.
I received a free copy of this book as an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review, but I enjoyed the reading experience so much that I bought a copy for my “read-again” titles.
Enjoyed the storyline and Miles and Megan coming together. Two people needing a change of scenery. Being led to each other as they choose to make that change.

There are lots of single dad and virgin nanny romances published, for the simple reason that it’s a great trope if done well. Happily, Emma Vikes’ The Lost Love (The Hudson Brothers Series, Book 1) is done more than well. I loved the romance of Megan (dad) and Milo (nanny), the relationship of Violet (daughter) with both Milo and, soon enough, Megan. Realistic but wonderful. Perfectly presented too. No surprise I highly recommend this book.
A beautiful emotionally well written story. This engaging storyline has very realistic in it’s situations and emotions that kept me engaged from beginning to end. The characters are interesting and well developed with undeniable sizzling chemistry. I voluntarily read and reviewed this incredible ARC.
Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. Milo was devastated that his wife died in a car accident, with that he needed to get away and try and start again with his daughter Violet. He had to get a new nanny and hired Megan. It was an emotional train wreck at the start and then blossomed.

This is an emotionally well-written story that has loss in more ways than one. The characters are well-fleshed out with depth and histories. He is not ready to acknowledge he needs her and she is all in – pregnant and all. She overhears that she will only ever be the “Nanny” to him and nothing else and she runs and he has to chase, because he realizes that he must have her in his life – almost too late. Will she forgive him? This story is very realistic in it’s situations and emotions, a must read story.

Starting over with a new nanny……………with “benefits”
The Lost Love is the first book in the new The Hudson Brothers series by Emma Vikes. It is a good story about Milo, his daughter Violet and her new nanny Megan. Milo’s wife and love of his life Rebecca died suddenly in an accident. He now has to raise their beautiful six year old daughter Violet alone. When he is given a promotion at work he has an opportunity at a fresh start in Chicago where he will need to relocate to. The only hitch is that their current housekeeper/nanny is not going to be able to go with them. But she knows another person who is willing to go with them, Megan. Megan is wonderful with Violet but she is also a temptation for Milo that he keeps fighting because she is only the nanny. Before long they start a secret relationship with benefits and Milo keeps her at arms length still. When Megan leaves quickly, with a secret little bonus growing in her, she is determined to make it on her own. Milo will have to decide it he is willing to admit that Megan has come to mean a lot more to him than her being just the nanny. Will Megan tell Milo about the “bonus” or not? Will Milo go after the woman he really loves? You will just have to read the story to find out the answers………..but here is a hint – there is a HEA.
Will I really liked the story and the characters I did have an issue with the lack of proofreading and editing. There were a lot of errors that should have been easily caught and corrected.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The characters were so believable. Their angst touched my heart, because life is so unpredictable. I cried at the end of this saga of kindred spirits. I’m recommending this book as a must read!

Such an emotional book of how a lost of someone from our lives can change our out look on the work.
Milo finding out if his wife’s lies and death at the same time cause his view of happiness to be crushed. Megan face with her struggles of positive out look even when it seems dark.
Together the characters help heal the hurt and fill in the missing voids they didn’t realize was missing. Megan is such a strong a character and a bright spot that warms your heart.
This is an intense story and I and looking forward to reading they rest of the Hudson brothers’ stories

This is a solid read! It is well written, consistent, emotionally deep, engaging, and relatable. The characters are well developed, strong, and likeable; the chemistry between them is off the charts. The author takes us on an amazing journey of heart break, grief, loss, falling in love again, and moving on. A very interesting and compelling read. Definitely recommended!

This was a great book! This was actually my first time reading a book by Emma Vikes but it certainly won’t be the last! This book pulled at my heart strings. Milo and Megan were wonderful characters. Milo was left to care for his daughter, Violet age 7, when his wife Rebecca died in a car accident. However, he didn’t actually look after Violet. When Rebecca died, he fell into his work. Mrs Barrymore, the nanny, took care of Violet in the absence of her father. When Milo gets a promotion and is told he has to relocate, he thinks maybe this is a good thing. To get away from everything Rebecca. But when Mrs Barrymore can’t relocate with Milo and Violet, she does the next best thing. She recommends her hairdresser, Megan, for the job knowing this is exactly what Megan needs. A fresh start. Megan accepts the job offer. But Milo and Megan’s life are about to get more complicated. I highly recommend this book!
Wonderful love story.
I loved this book & at times this story had me a bit emotional although once I started reading it I couldn’t stop. The connection between all 3 was wonderful & I loved Violet. I wanted to believe that Megan & Milo were meant to be together from the minute he almost ran her over & there was an instant connection to each other. The sexual chemistry was amazing & even before they started sleeping together Megan started having feelings for him. Milo however kept on insisting to everyone that she was ‘just his daughter’s nanny’ which hurt her more than she let on. After Milo found out his wife was having an affair & was with her lover when she died he refused to allow himself to get too close to loving anyone again believing they would hurt him aswell. I was desperate for them to be a happy family hoping Milo would come to his senses that his brothers & even his own 7yr old daughter were telling to aswell. This is definately a book to read.

An emotional gut wrenching story that could be based on real life. The characters are relatable. Milo, dad, is looking for a babysitter for his daughter, Violet, because he is having to relocate due to his job. In walks Megan, babysitter, at the request of the current nanny, who can’t relocate. The story flows smoothly. It is fun to read about the relationship between Milo and Megan, Megan and Violet, Violet and her dad, Milo. The characters also face real life situations and struggle to deal. Amazing book.

I loved the story that was told in this book. I felt it really touched on the emotions. The push and pull, each thinking about the other first along with the love they have for the little girl….just all consuming! WOW…..Emma Vikes has written a heartfelt and strongly emotional read! I believe it is one of her best books. The Lost Love is the first book in The Hudson Brother series and focuses on Milo Hudson, a widower who suffered the sudden loss of his wife who he felt was the love of his life, and Megan, the new nanny for his young daughter named Violet. Megan enters this devastated family and works to heal their tremendous pain and loss. Overtime, Megan finds herself drawn to Milo and finally admits her true feelings. Is Milo willing to risk finding love for a second time? I strongly recommend this beautiful novel with the touching storyline, realistic characters, and a second chance to find love.

This is such a feel good story. Don’t get me wrong even though there is plenty of sadness in the journey the story left me happy. Megan being the oldest has looked after her siblings at her own cost yet she maintains a positive outlook. Fate steps in and she gets hit by Milo and their story together begins.
Milo has his share of misery. His wife cheated and left him feeling unworthy of most everything. As he gets back into being a dad and Megan he has to face what he hasn’t seen all along. His brothers help with that and make for great secondary characters.
