I loved that this story did not follow the typical, historical romance ‘formula’. It was a very unique tale that immediately drew me in. The characters were vivid and complex and made the story seem so realistic, that I often felt like I was actually there watching the story unfold.

Bridget Barton’s The Lost Love of a Stunning Lady is a stunning historical Regency Romance book that only a true master of the genre can produce. Luckily thus author had such mastery for produce it she did. I adore Mimi Hancock, the heroine here. The trials and tribulations that she and Richard go through in the course of this book’s pages are mighty but the power of this story is one that will grip you till it’s funks pages. A wonderful tale that’s wonderfully told. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.
This love story is a tragedy. The tragedy is Mimi’s mother. The woman is a walking and talking tragedy. What she does to her daughter is criminal and only in the best interest of herself. I don’t know if I could have ever forgiven her for the things she put Mimi through. My character would have axed murdered her or thrown all pride away and begged Richard to take me away on the promise he made Mimi. I felt horrified for Mimi about 75% of the book and the other 25% hoping Richard would stop feeling sorry for himself. There are villains and there are monsters. The Duke of Hertford fell into the later. Although this book has an HEA, this story spent more time on the evil that was Mimi’s mother than the actual relationship of Mimi & Richard.
